It’s exactly the same in Australia, and has been getting progressively worse under both left and right leaning governments. The conservative government was a disaster for housing/cost of living and the liberals haven’t been much better. The vast majority of elected legislators here are relatively wealthy landlords with substantial investment property portfolios. It’s not in their interests to fix the housing crisis. They also vote themselves huge salaries and regular pay rises. They are relatively immune to the cost of living crisis. Australian food banks and similar charities are overwhelmed. We have two main supermarket chains, Coles & Woolworths. They both perpetuate rampant price gouging with abandon. Big corporations, especially international ones, pay very little to no tax. This is happening all over the world under governments of every stripe.

Wow the entitlement is mind-boggling. If that is the attitude that people have coming here on a temporary Visa. 33 years ago I had a temporary work reason to work in the UK I worked six days a week paid rent paid bills and we built a business that hired other people and put money back into the economy. I can’t imagine being out in the streets protesting it to the UK government that I haven’t been pretty to the privileges of people that were born and bred in the country and were there before me in Ontario we definitely do not have housing available. The cost of housing for a room is $1000 a month outside of the city, basement apartment is 2000 and Condo, one bedroom and den is about 3000. I’m not sure what jobs students are expecting when employment is not at all-time high and the healthcare system is already strained and failing people that need vital surgeries. Seniors are waiting three months for an MRI and students that were born here are having trouble finding employment because entry jobs are given to immigrants we are approaching UK and Ireland crisis levels, it’s not about racism. We don’t have the infrastructure.

It is happening in the whole world. Don’t talk like Canada is the worst you probably haven’t lived in a 3rd world country and there’s even worse than 3rd world in some countries.

Sorry to hear you’re leaving Canada….I haven’t been watching your vids lately but will catch up. As someone born and raised in Toronto, I love being in Canada. I’m proud to be Canadian. Unfortunately, I am sad to say that we have been going so downhill ever since Trudeau and his gang of idiots came in AND the pandemic. It’s not really easy to maintain your finances here anymore, so many people are struggling in this country. You can’t really afford anything today, it’s so sad. I’m unhappy with what has been happening to our country and the state we’re in. As you said, problems have arisen and continue to plague this country, from crime, cost of living, homeless crisis and quality of life.\n\nIf other of my fellow Canadians are leaving this “great” country, that’s their choice. Essentially because Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada didn't care who they let into the country and flooded it with anyone from violence--ridden countries who could make it to our borders. Thus while no doubt getting some worthwhile immigrants plenty of people who were troublesome in their own country were now gifted to Canada. This resulted in increased crime and violence at the same time the Liberal Party of Canada moved to disarm Legacy Canadians and to reduce punishments for criminal behaviour. Pretty much the same as in not so jolly old England although we haven't reached English levels of daily violence.

After the COVID outbreak, II quit my job and traveled all around the world, including 1yr staying in Toronto. During that period, I experienced firsthand the inflation and social challenges Canada was facing. After much thought, I came to the same realization as you—I need to leave my home country. Ironically, I’m about to move to the very place you're leaving.???I admire your courage in embracing this new challenge and hope you find a place you'll truly love. As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!

I've lived in Canada all my life I haven't had a doctor in 2 years. In my 60s I now have to go and sit in emergency every month to refill my prescriptions. I often spend 12 to 14 hours a month because there are no doctors in Alberta! These people should go home we don't have the room and we have enough Truck drivers!

The immigration file has been completely botched and mishandled by an inept and very stupid government. Mass immigration without a plan for increased housing, medical staff, infrastructure help, or even increased staff at immigration centres, etc. is madness, and chaos has ensued. I studied in India for several years, and was careful to respect Indian culture vis a vis dress codes, learning Hindi, and behaviour. It is only normal courtesy to do so. It becomes more difficult when numbers increase drastically over a v. short period of time since people coming here are not widely exposed to Canadian culture. This completely inept and corrupt government needs to go: like yesterday. I think of myself as anti-racist, but when I go for a medical test and see that 95% of patients appear to be of middle-eastern origin, while I haven't been able to find a family doctor for 10 years, I do get a little irritated. And I'm a boomer; younger people in Canada are competing for education, jobs, housing, as well as medical care, so I can understand people becoming angry. I think that currently this backlash is against the government, not immigrants, and not one community in particular. I am cynical enough to think that this government went for mass immigration because they have no economic plan for prosperity, and bringing in several millions would raise GDP. But percapita GNP has been falling for 8 quarters, so we are definitely in a recession. I think Trudeau did this so his economic incompetence would not be obvious. Anyway, that's my appeal: we should be upset at a government that caused this chaos, not at individual immigrants nor a specific community.

Sorry we haven't got enough housing for Canadians already here. The International students must pay their way and then go back home to start new educated lives. I work in a food bank and see many international students taking food from Canadians. This is not supporting themselves. Thousands either quit school or failed and then demanded citizenship. I'm outraged. There are many issues that must be dealt with asap.

Living in Ontario and visiting BC many times I have notice more and more elderly Indian individuals. I been to hospitals in both province's and I see more then ever elderly Indians requesting health care. I wonder to myself how many years have these elderly Indians pay into the health care system. I don't want anyone without care but those who have worked in this country for 50yrs have paid into the system. So is it right that those who have paid into the system have to wait for care do to ones who haven't paid into the system?

There's no possible way housing will ever catch up to demand. Our country is a train wreck. We haven't even gotten close to bottoming out. Rentals will be high for many years. Most people can't even entertain the thought of buying a house. Even a moron can figure that out.

My community is home to many wonderful Indian immigrants whom I've had the pleasure of getting to know over the years. While most are fantastic individuals, there are a couple of unsavory characters, including one family that has brought some drug-related issues from a larger city in BC, leading to multiple visits from the RCMP. It's interesting to note that many businesses have been established by Indian immigrants, yet I haven't seen any Canadian-born youth employed there. Despite this, it seems that the majority of Canadians appreciate the Indian community, as they are generally polite, engaging, and friendly.
