I know it won’t be easy but, Toronto has a lot of resources for immigrants and even undocumented immigrants. I worked for a shelter and although it was the only one that takes undocumented families, you learn there are resources out there. \nIt’s about aligning yourself with the right community support Center, finding the people who will fight for you. There are so many people here who welcome and want to help all types of immigrants. No matter your background.\nThe people who work helping these communities they are ruthless in their fight for citizenship, or at least finding you a job and home, they will guide you through the system. Social workers, ones in community resource centres, not government centres, will be your best friend. They know where the red tape is and the resources available to you. \nYou could even go to a specific shelter to t all out your options and where you could go to get help.\nI understand this is not ideal. \nBut, if you want to be here, your best friends are non-profits, finding a center that aligns with your story, your background, because they will fight for you. We have people here from every country and resource centres geared towards your own language, religion etc.\nAnother big way to set yourself up for success. Churches, rich churches to be specific. \nMy mom works in a very rich church and it helps them feel better about themselves helping people, you could be nice enough to alleviate their guilt through their wallets, and connections. Under the table work, shelter, space for your family, set you up, they might even have the lawyers you need pro Bono in those rich churches. Church shopping, do not be above it if you don’t have resources. You don’t just get help, you build a community and support system through a common bond, the church. \nI know these aren’t revolutionary tips, but without specifics of your background it’s hard (for me specifically) to give specific advice online as to what services could be provided for you.\nIt’s kind of like a doctors appointment. You need background info to diagnose the resources for you and how to access that help.

Why is everyone surprised Canada has immigration laws??? We do not hate ppl who want a life in Canada but you need to inform yourself properly before actually showing up here.Canada’s immigration system is not unnecessarily strict like the us, but that doesn’t equate to anyone coming here. There is no false hope. Also Vancouver is literally the worst place for an immigrant/ refugee to start their lives; way too expensive.

You can't move to a country and want everything your way because of your culture. I'm mixed and don't think it's fair that people are being pushed around because the choices they make. England isn't a country from the Middle East and people who immigrate here need to accept it or go back!

Both me and my wife have Master’s degrees. Problem is I got a CLB 8 band getting us a totalk CRS score of 402 only. I wanted to write IELTS again but not able to get test dates here in the USA; earliest is May 2021. \nNow, I also know of two other ways of improving CRS; PNP from Alberta and BC Tech Program.\nHere are a few questions popping in my head:\nWould it be a good idea to create an Express Entry profile with 402 score and wait for Alberta to pick us for PNP? \nWhat happens if I submit my Express Entry profile and later I get a better IELTS score and want to submit that profile?\nI’m obviously using the Alberta PNP only for PR, so what are restrictions on us to stay/work in Alberta? Our plan is settle down in Vancouver, BC. \nI just found out about the BC Tech program from one of your videos and planning to prepare and apply for jobs there. EVERY Country has immigration laws. You can’t just walk into any country you want and instantly be granted the same benefits as citizens and legal immigrants. It doesn’t work that way in Canada, USA or any other country for that matter.

Considering you only have to have a student or work visa and say you are going to apply for citizenship and have a bed and breakfast or rent rooms to buy a house in Canada. Also rather than having our housing market correct for average Canadian to purchase he wants to increase immigration to keep our housing market up his words. And those poor people being sold Canada are coming into a Country with huge unemployment.

This is whole story is kind of amazing and incredible. Usually people want to stay in the country they immigrated. And other countries (like the US) are always trying to forcibly push out / get rid of people that are already there. Here, you have strangely the opposite problem.

Here I am, working hard to get requirements for immigration, reading pages and pages of info while feeling the pressure of my work permit expiring and these ghost clients don't even want to live here. Pffft. This is why the process is constantly changing because of scammers. Making it harder for us who want to do it legit.

The bigger question is why rich people don't want to live in Canada? Is Canada economy big enough to sustain and grow wealth? Or Taxes are too high for them to stay rich? Is immigration only solution to all that Canada is facing globally? The real success of immigration will be when Canada can really attract global immigration like USA did in past.The truth is new immigrants struggle for job and Canadian experience so they prefer to go back.its a catch 22 situation for Canada ..they need people and money and have limited job and business opportunities. I pray Canada becomes more dynamic and grow more globally.

Canada has been getting rich off all the Chinese immigrants for year's. Starting with Expo and the man that everyone loves Jim Pattison. Do your research. The growing Chinese population is rising and molding Canada to be a new version of China. The problem is that it's happening everywhere and the new problem is that it's become easier to play and flash the overused racist/discriminative card. If the government does not act now and recognize their manifestation of this major problem that is shifting Canada's true values and this will grow out of hand and it will be to late. Many Canadian's are already feeling the rage and soon someone's rage will explode causing a ripple. There has to be a conversation and although it appears it would be a late of a game play it still needs to be addressed and stop sweeping under rug. Canada is known for it's non confrontational image but someone will shake it up and it might be to late by then for the government to step in and of course not be accountable. They get a lot of money each year from the demographics and don't want to do much about the growing explosive problem. Housing is a key problem and the Chinese population has gravely diminished Canadian born lives and their families. Yes understandably their are many born Chinese immigrants but we are discussing the new blood with deceptive intentions.

Some immigration lawyers make you believe that you have a good chance to be approved as a refugee but they only want their money. If the asylum seeker gets refused they just wash their hands.

This kind of people are making difficult immigration for people who are truthful in nature and really want to migrate to Canada.

I'm white, I've been followed in stores. I'm not stealing so I don't care. I rented a room to a woman from Iraq, she was nice but didn't speak english. She often left bits of tp where she sat, instead of womens pads I think. She moved 3 months later, she had stuffed cig butts under the plunger in her sink instead of the toilet. Immigrants had convinced her we overcharged and she moved in with them to her regret, but I wouldn't want her back. She was a needy pain. We have refugees in an apartment across the street, Many different plumbers the last few months, now all new tenants are white. I can understand why.

I'm from El Salvador and you have no idea how many immigrants live in the US and Canada without being able to get their legal status fixed even with money in their pockets. I don't think Canada ever lied. Unlike the USA Canada does not play around. We welcome legal immigrants and bona fide refugees. Unfortunately there is a lot of greyness in what it means to be a bona fide refugee. Perhaps too many people think it means one thing. \n.\nMy heart goes out to all these foreigners wanting to make a life here in Canada - after all I am one of them. The ONLY difference between the guy in the video and me is that I was lucky to have an opportunity to get a degree'd education and was accepted into Canada.

To me, it looks like Vice is really trying to pull the emotional card to get people to sympathize with this man because he really is in a rough situation. But, he is in a situation of his own making. It sounds like he had not done any prior research about Canada before deciding to claim refugess status. Yes, Trudeau was not giving the full truth when he made those public announcements to the media. Yes, people (educated or not) can be swayed by words of leaders they respect. But, to think you can just enter another country and claim refugee status without understanding what that actually entails is very naive. Canada has very transparent laws that are easily accessable in a multitude of different languages. The provinces also have legal assistance for those who can not afford lawyers. So, the fact that this man was able to spent $15,000 when he is being portrayed as a low income earner makes me question his income, or if he was even aware that he could apply for legal assistance. And since he has a lawyer who has been working his case, I would like to assume that the lawyer would have said something about assistance.\n\nI really want to be sympathetic for this man and his family, because security uncertainty makes life extra hard. But, as I have had to live in more than one country due to the Canadian immigration system refusing my husband due to a very old DUI (which has set our life on a completely different plan than anticipated), I have a very hard time being sympathetic when I feel as though they did not reach out to educated themselves on the laws of another country. I am a Canadian who currently can't live in Canada with my husband of 3 years and I still don't hate my country. I respect the hell out of it (this is not to get into our historic treatment of BIPOC, which deserves it's own seperate time and is a bloody stain on our land's history.)

Okay. A lot of people here have no clue how the immigration system works both in the US and in Canada. “He should just have come here legally”. Well, most of the time a legal path to emigrating to the US/Canada just does not exist, and its getting more and more impossible to be granted asylum. In the US you can’t just apply for a work visa, you can’t just apply for a green card. You got to be eligible to apply for it. For a work visa you need a job offer first, you need proof of income and most of the time the employer will have to prove they couldn’t find an American to take the position. To get a green card you either have to get married to an American, invest at least $500,000 or try applying for asylum (which is almost impossible to get nowadays). ALSO to apply for asylum you need to be either inside the US or at a US port of entry. Try to be less “patriotic” and more empathetic. People flee their countries because of war, violence, cartels, gangs, terrorism, etc. They are desperate and want to protect their families and have a better life. If you were in their shoes and staying in your home country put your family in great harm you would have done the same thing. People need to stop judging, stop being selfish and start leading with empathy.

Honestly, what did he think. It is not easy when you have no education to come and get accepted. Plus her chose Alberta when there was way better choices. For example, Montreal and Toronto are better to immigrants. There is reason why is difficult also. If Canada was to accept everybody,it may not be as safe as it is now. Canada does not welcome everyone. Many immigrants came to a white country. They should integrate, become Canadians, respect its culture and language. If this is not what they want, it would be better for them to return where they came from. They should not create problems for themselves and Canada. This is fair for everyone.

Eliminate duel citizenship and this problem will go away. If you want to immigrate to Canada you must relinquish any previous citizenship. That would eliminate the possibility of these people moving back to China which means they wouldn't move here in the first place unless they were serious about being Canadian citizens and not just doing it for profit and access to Canadian real estate, social programs and future pensions for family.

The dude and all his clients are scammers. The real victims are the nation and its honorable immigrants and citizens. \nI applaud how the immigration department handled this case even though I still want to see him behind bars for a few more years and the penalty fines should’ve been higher. Keep in mind, he scammed over 10mil CAD in the course of ten years operation.
