As someone born and raised in Toronto I have seen the massive delcine, problem is most big cities are getting worse, when they finally let me leave Canada for being unclean at the end of 2022 someone who travelled a lot before the pandemic, I have noticed many cites in the US and Europe have became much more violent, tent cities and much more expensive, so more of a global problem.

I live down the 401 from Toronto. Visited it many, many times since I was a kid. It has definitely changed, but as you say, the changes (not for the better) have accelerated over the last 10 years or so. The traffic is crazy almost every day now with accidents that lead to unbelievable congestion. One can no longer guarantee that one can get to any appointment on time.\n\nYour assessment is balanced but honest, Alina. Although you are lucky to be able to work remotely, you should look for someplace that has good travel connections. Unfortunately, in Canada, that usually leads to the most expensive cities. Diversity is our strength. Think of all that we gain from being home to the best of all that is available from these diversified cultures. Think of all of the worst that we also gain from so many of those diversified cultures. When we import people from all around the world, we import, along with all of the good, all of the bad. What is culturally and morally acceptable in a great many of these foreign countries, is NOT acceptable in Canada. However, our accepting liberal society has a solution for that, we simply change to meet the ever moving social and moral target. This is why our Prime Minister gets away with stating that Canada has no national identity or culture worth preserving, since we just accept and then change to suit.

A somewhat depressing video, because it's an actually accurate portrait of the city, as it is. Toronto and Canada as a whole is governed by politicians and bureaucrats, who rely on experts opinion of what could be, if x,y,z all come together as envisioned. These cities also were viewed as examples to follow by other Canadian population centres. So the same issues keep reoccurring, because in abstract theory they could work. The main problem in Canada is you keep toiling year after year but you cannot really see you achieve a life where you are secure that you have made it. Cold weather, there are many cold countries like Scandinavian countries etc. but even migrants stay put because one's life improved. Canada just wanted to extract money from foreigners like international students, migrants without or even PRs but the promised benefits are in fact also gotten from them due to the many stiff taxes, & not really from the gov't. My nephews & niece supposedly given education but those are loans that must be paid after graduation. But the problem is there are no jobs even if they graduated with flying colors and nice courses. It was said work is easier if already citizens and studied there but no use. If there are jobs, so many asked like work history, credit background how can they have it when they just graduated so accepted jobs for undergraduates like mopping floors, fastfood crew & entailed years, so how can the payback be with just minimal earnings? Canada just make slaves of migrants with nothing done in their lives but work, work, work no spare time to rest then taxes, taxes, taxes. No savings even if very thrifty. Everything has tax - Exorbitant income taxes, home tax, rent tax, car tax, insurance tax, bank account tax, electricity tax, internet tax, cellphone tax, and many more. Slaves because you only live to sustain the government BUT YOU CANNOT RECEIVE THE PROMPT AND COMPLETE SERVICES promoted. So people got depressed and unhappy especially with the gloomy cold weather. It's not like jobs in other countries or even in one's home country where even if you toiled hard and made sacrifices, you moved forward by assets acquired like lots, houses, big bank account balances but no, in Canada you can't, it must all go to the Govt. It's like Communism.

I survive a lot in Canada but I speak more than the two officials languages .I don't get a good job , they are some discrimination in Canada .They need immigrants for a cleaning job or tim Hortons.... Daily life is very expensive....Now Canada is not Canadian dream.....

My family and I got permanent residency in Canada back in 2016 and it is true it is not worth it. My spouse and I hold PhDs in Health Services Management and Biomedical Research and were educated and trained in the UK. I was serving as a professor of Biology in my country at that time but Canada wanted me to start over at the bottom as well as my husband despite our proven track record of experience and credentials from accredited British universities. We opted to stay in our home country and today we are far better off and more accomplished at home than we would have been in Canada. The skilled migrant worker program offered by Canada is really for young persons under 30 without families, straight out of unoversity and who are not senior or established in their career. Most notably, we are minorities and felt that we were discriminated against when trying to acquire housing in a surbuban community in Canada and the same was experienced when registering our children for school. Honestly, we did not feel welcomed at all and opted to return home after 8 days in Canada.

India is in a much better situation in this recession.. even better than the US and Canada. I have a good job here.. Enjoy my weekends with great food from swiggy zomato and beer?. You get better salary packages in India. Cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Navi Mumbai are great to live in and earn. I work from home...nice work life balance, enjoy my vacations in Goa... Go for a vacation every 4 months. Thoughts came in to shift to Canada... but decided not to go. Why struggle so much abroad.
