Hi Lynn, l live in Banbury, Oxfordshire. There is nothing in the west, Africans are better off in Africa. Life in England is like attending a top school where you have to work so hard to keep up. Theoretically in the west, the first 40% to 50% of your wages goes in taxes. This leaves you with half your income. Your half income will then cover your rent/mortgage and all other bills. Once you have paid eve body, your basically left with nothing. Our lifes are in forever debt spinning wheel. I am a Ugandan, lived in the UK for 33yrs. This is home and is l know. But l am sure many places are better than here. What is guaranteed is food and health. Food is very cheap in relation to people's income. Health services are free, kids education are free too. These are the things you can't guarantee in Africa. Could be the main reason many foreigners choose to settle in the UK. Thank you.

Yes we have so many unregulated agents who are applying for visit visas which doesn't allow you to work. The only option is to destroy identity documents and seek refugee status afresh . These unscrupulous agents very popular on Tiktok charge btwn 150k to 200k unrefundable.... That's the problem. I’m Canadian living , for 15 years living here I would like to say Canada is a wonderful place. Many opportunities if peoples acknowledge the requirements. Foreign education is not expected here they have to upgrade and get Canadian education before any thing starts.

Hi Lynn. First of, I would like to say that I'm such a huge fan of yours. Since you started at Tuko and still following to date. You are an inspiration to me and so many people out there. I love and respect what you stand for and your work. I completely resonate with everything you are about. Second, I've lived in Canada for over 30 years now. I am Eritrean and was born in Kenya. Moved to Canada when I was about 9 and have lived here since with my family. I have to say that for us, Canada has been a God Send. It has helped us in so many ways, and we are so grateful for the opportunities and life it has given my family. From health care to schooling and job opportunities. We also cane here in 1989. So times and cost of living was very different than it is now. Of course, times have changed now, and the economy and standard of living have too. There are pros and cons to everywhere we live in the world. Everyone is different and has different experiences. There are various factors that may affect everyone's perspectives and experiences when they come to Canada, whether it was a long time ago or recently. Some factors could be, weather, economy, feeling lonely ( no family), language barriers, support...etc. Change is not easy at all and can affect t your whole emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Social life here is also not like it us back home...just alot of factors. People here work and work to make it. My mom brought us here as a single widowed mom. My sister and I were very young. But she was determined to give us a better life and worked her whole life, and it has paid off. It depends on how you look at everything and what your goal is. My mother was determined and made it happen and has raised us on her own very successfully. She loves Canada and appreciates it for everything it has done for us. Everyone's experiences are different. You have to do your research before coming and come with an open mind. Overall... Canada for us has been a blessing. \n\nI hope that helps somehow. (This keeps you on a safer place!!!!!!) many people skip this in the name of ‘janja janja’ just to get there. But if you follow the procedures and do the paperwork, guys huwezi tu kuenda mahali.\n4: KNOW YOUR HOST COMPANY! (Do research ? make sure it’s a legal company), UNDERSTAND YOUR CONTRACT before you choose to travel. Please this is very important. You can seek deep information about what you are going to do, information is everywhere guys. SEEK information. Many people just want to go ‘majuu’ but they don’t seek information yawa??‍♀️\n5: Lower your expectations (you can’t just blossom in two months). Usikuje na idea at ohhh I will be investing home blah blah! Canada isn't perfect - but it is definitely better than many parts of the world - better than Japan.

I am in the moving business and I can't tell oyu how many people i've moved out to st catherines, cambridge, barrie, london, windsor etc who were born in Toronto and have had enough of the city. Most of the poeple who are from Toronto are no longer there... It is a city of professional foreigners and mentally ill people

I was in Toronto this summer and agree with many of your observations

I am outraged!! Why is someone on the most wanted list able to come and live here so easily? What about national security and keeping the public safe? Meanwhile, those who are hardworking and want to reunite with their love ones have to go through so many obstacles to come here. This is absolutely ridiculous!

Toronto is horribly congested and only getting worse by the day. TO public transit has nothing to compare with major cities like London, NYC, Paris, Tokyo... just packing in more condos to make billionaires richer and the people left to struggle with 1960s infrastructure. Quality of life going downhill. Know many Toronto born children among our friends now reaching adulthood are leaving.

This is beyond scary. A good majority of those coming across are males, and who knows how many of the cartel have made it into the U.S.!

Say, consider Montreal! Lots of work for models. Inexpensive housing. Very cosmopolitan. Excellent night life. Great social services. An entire entertainment industry. My wife (who is English and doesn't speak fluent french,) was an actress here for many years. Lots of opportunity and much less competition. We'd love to have you!!!!

i was born in Montreal and i moved here 8yrs ago. Everything people hear or say about Toronto is a lie. Toronto is going downhill fast and the powers that be dont seem to care. The TtC is in shambles and prices are sky high and no relief in sight as the blame is put on non sensical reasons. Blaming the poor and international students for Torontos problems is absurd but that is what we have. I know many who are playing the system to get what they need. If an African professional from Nigeria regrets coming to Canada you that you've come to frozen outhouse that simply won't give you the opportunity to make your dreams come true. European immigrants that come to Canada end up going back home because the cost of living will overwhelm your income and maintain you in poverty. Our government does little to nothing to aid this crisis. They just like to talk like they are... I used to live at Yonge and Gerrard for many years. Loved it. I moved away to Alberta in 2009. I am shocked at how much the city has deteriorated as well as the cost of living. \nAllan Gardens has always been no go….but my god! Just ridiculous. No excuse for this level of homelessness.

I live in Regina Saskatchewan. I visited Toronto recently and I have to say I don't like it at all. Even though, I have already saved up enough money while working in Saskatchewan to buy an apartment in Toronto without mortgage, I won't consider moving to Toronto at all. The traffic drive me crazy. There are so many vehicle on Hwy 401 and all other roads even at mid night, going to work will be more or as stressful as your work. I am surprised to find out most of my friend who has better or same qualification as me only get about less than 70% as I get paid. Life quality must be terrible compare live in a more afford city like Regina Saskatchewan.

Alina: Flip the story on its head. If not Toronto, and relying on your very extensive experience in so many places, make up a list of where you think people should come. Now Canadians might not consider anywhere but Canada, so it could be a Canadian list. But a more interesting list would pit Canadian locations against the world. Realizing you haven't been just everywhere, it would be an interesting list within your experience. You said good things about Singapore and Bali. If you have the time or energy, rate the top places (including Japan) you've stayed in.

Uhhh that was a shocker, thanks for sharing this. Vancouver is ten times worse, what I have seen through YouTube videos. Then through the fires in BC and Alberta many people are now homeless and displaced. The housing crises has now gotten unmanageable. For us Canadians who would love to return to Canada, since I got away from my abuser, it is impossible. I'm very discouraged and hopeless, and believe we might never return to Canada to live. It is absolutely shocking how the country has changed for the worse under the Trudeau Government.

As someone born and raised in Toronto I have seen the massive delcine, problem is most big cities are getting worse, when they finally let me leave Canada for being unclean at the end of 2022 someone who travelled a lot before the pandemic, I have noticed many cites in the US and Europe have became much more violent, tent cities and much more expensive, so more of a global problem.

I live in Edm but have been to TO many times and was just there 2 wks ago visiting family. It’s a super fun and exciting city that I love. However your points are valid but I think these things are happening in all the bigger Cdn cities right now. Inflation is ridiculous, the cost of living is untenable considering wages aren’t going up at the rate they should for people to reasonably pay their bills, resources and social services are being cut, our govt is a shit show and isn’t managing any of these issues appropriately ?. All of that leads to people being frustrated and disillusioned, homeless, having mental health issues w no access to help bc it’s unaffordable… it’s a mess. You’re def lucky to have the option to flee
