I watched a news reel this week about drug addiction and poverty and I could not believe how extensive the ‘downtown down-and-out’ areas were in many cities in EVERY state. I can’t believe how the governors of certain states are focused on attacking LGBTQ issues, controlling women’s health, allowing anyone (regardless of their mental health and past criminal behaviour) to buy guns- lots of guns, guns that only armed forces or law enforcement would require. Why aren’t they focused on the huge hollowing out of their cities due to drug addiction? It’s a bizarre country - certainly not a 1st world country anymore.

He could have told the crew or her parents first .....instead of shouting at the girl...is he a super hero ..he should learn ethics and family values first

Tyler's reaction to Canadian fears about school shootings throughout this is that this is a big city problem, and if you move to a small town, you'll be safe and not have to worry about it. So, I got curious, and looked up the population of Sandy Hook, home to one of the most famous (feels gross to describe such a tragedy that way) school shootings. It has a population of less than 10,000 people. What is a small town to Tyler, because 10,000 people seems pretty small to me?\n\nAs a Canadian, I was utterly flabbergasted going into a US pawn shop and them just having a gun room. Enough guns to arm a small army. Hunting rifles. Handguns. Even one that looked like some kind of assault rifle. You can get guns in Canada, but at like, a hunting store, with proper licencing. The fact that you could go to a pawn shop and just...browse the guns there is so alien to me. Every country that has tighter gun control has fewer school shootings, and shootings in general. Like, shootings still happen here, but not to the same extent they do in America. American gun culture enables them because they both make guns so readily available, and have a culture that celebrates gun ownership in a way other cultures, like my Canadian culture, do not. I think our last school mass shooting was in the eighties? So, if I lived in the US, I don't think I'd be afraid to send my kid to school, but it would be way more of a concern than it is here, where I don't even consider the possibility of that happening at all.

I live in a country where if 2 people collide they both apologize and are sorry it happened, and you want me to move ti a country where either or both sides could be armed? Naw

I'm a proud Canadian who would NEVER move to the USA for a ton of reasons. I only wish our best neighbors---I still believe this---would get their act together. Unfortunately I think it may be way too late. The fact that a known scumbag like Donald Trump could still,I think,get back into the White House says it all. The warring political parties should be lining up to put him jail. Far too many shootings and violence down there. When I meet Americans up here,they are always nice folks,always respectful. Maybe they're relieved I'm not armed. I'm kidding. Still,all things considered,very proud and very lucky and very happy to be a Canadian.

I would consider immigrating to the U.S. for love. And I did consider it, but the romance did not work out. Otherwise I would be more likely to consider moving to Scandinavia. : ) I could have immigrated to England, but decided on Canada as my Top Choice of the two, mainly for the prices, and my family. UK Real Estate is very difficult to obtain.

I have no formal education beyond grade 12 and no money to afford school and no credit for a loan. If not for the child tax credit and social assistance I wouldn't be able to live without my(former) abusive partner, I would have been stuck living on the streets.\n\nBecause the system was designed to help people stay afloat, not get ahead, I broke even and can now work a full time minimum wage job and care for my son in peace and stability. It's a nice feeling <3\n\nWelfare covers most all prescriptions so you only pay $5 for each regardless of what they cost.\n\nThe system could use some major improvements in several areas(dental and eye care being two of them), but it works for our current situation\n\nI only recently found out that the states doesn't have the child tax credit as a regular form of income for parents. 1. While McDonald's was originally created in the US there is a 2nd version and its 100% Canadian. After the u.s. McDonald's began franchising one of the brothers became so disgusted with the lack of regulation in the US on what is considered 'food' he moved to Canada and relaunched the chain. While the restaurant named remains the same and a handful of the main burgers the two companies are completely separate and have nothing to do with one another.\n\n2. Gov work, nurses, doctors, teachers, etc have a regulated minimum wage of 7.25 are you ....... kidding me??? 3. The US has no paid maternity leave u have the baby take 2 weeks off unpaid and back work 4. Server's make 2.13 + tips an hour ...... 5. The federal and state government recommend homes in the city have sewage plumbing BUT it is not required. There are literally houses in the southern states with the toilets flushing right into the front or backyard. 6. Perfectly fine to pay a man more than a woman in the US because a woman isnt a man. 7. And if a woman literally becomes a man by changing 'her' name + physically in appearance via surgery/hormones/whatever she still won't get paid the same as a man because she still not viewed as a man: no gender rights. 8. Where's the healthcare when the US has the highest taxes in the world??? 9. Classist. 10. No regulated education. Literally there is no rules on teaching the students these days are learning absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as regulating education in the US anymore 11. The country is over 33 trillion dollars in debt..... It's never going to fix that.\n\nI could go on and on for another hundred reasons before I'd have to Google something else to add to the list but these are only a few of the reasons why any Canadian who knows anything about the US, would never willfully move south of the boarder. American people themselves, aside from a personality trait here or there are fine. Its the demon structure of the country that make America deplorable. Sorry.

The United States could not even get through a transfer of power without violence. This is beyond pathetic. The peaceful transition of power is the #1 job of first-world democracies.\n#16. Attitudes toward social problems such as poverty and drug addiction. \n\nNotice that #4 - #7 could be subdivided into more than one reason.\nI thought this list was going to have 5 or 6 items on it.

I have lived in different parts of Canada my whole life, but always seem to end up in majority conservative areas. I do not consider myself a conservative. Even though I don't agree with everyone's politics, I can still live here feeling relatively safe and accepted.\nWhen things get a bit much and I feel like maybe home doesn't feel safe or match my values, I never look at the USA as my exit plan. I have considered Sweden, and Finland before anywhere else. I also wonder if it's just the sheer volume of people that Canadians aren't used to when they visit the states. Your population is massive compared to ours, and it's hard to imagine the quality of life that I have here being easy to emulate down there without drastic changes.\nThen there's my vacation and sick time at work. Maternity leaves etc... so many quality of life things to consider. I look at the housing prices and really wish I could get over the other things. But as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, I could never work in your fee for service word. I know what hospital CEOs are doing to your healthcare from the diagnostic side - the shortcuts that are being made to make more money - and I could never do that with my ethics.\nI hope Canada wasn't too rough on you - we can be pretty shitty some times lol... and not even be sorry about it.

I think the US has lots of interesting places and practices; unfortunately, they also have batshit crazies like Marjorie Greene. That's enough to keep most of us on this side of the border, LOL. On a sad note, in 2022 the US had 51 school shootings. I love my American neighbours (yes, it has a u), but I don't think I could ever feel safe there.

I’ve been to the U.S a couple of times, not in the last 15 years though. The times that I went I really enjoyed it and found people to be very friendly. Americans that I have gotten to know who live here in Canada or have been visiting, I have also found to be quite friendly.\n\nAs I type this you are talking about the importance of making sure you move to an area in the U.S where there are like minded people, like mined political views etc. that’s such a strange concept as a Canadian, because we don’t really have to think about that in terms of where we would live in Canada. \n\nMaybe you should come and visit us here in Canada? There could be certain limitations that you have become used to living in the U.S that you might start to see more clearly when those limitations are not there.

No. Never. Given the state of politics, gun violence, mass shootings, suppression of rights (abortion, etc), I could never live in the united states. I find it hard to believe that a third of the population adores one of the worst humans alive and might even re-elect him president, if he is not in jail by then for his role in January 6 and the classified documents cases. My last visit was in 2018 to Bangor, Maine and through northern Vermont and New Hampshire, and it was depressing. Lots of shuttered businesses and homes everywhere. I won't be visiting the country any more. Europe is a much more enjoyable (and safe) vacation.

School shootings don’t happen only in cities. That’s the scary part. They could happen anywhere in the US. In Canada I have never been worried about my kids safety at school. Our mindset is the total opposite of Americans when it come to guns and “their rights”.

I Canada and USA were the same country I would often got south for better weather. And try to work seasonal work so I could work in Canada maybe paving roads then south for winter

Yes, American citizens need to be taken care of first before we let any more people into the country, but let's keep thinking about this... Why are so many people trying to escape Venezuela? Could it possibly be the cripplingly sanctions the US has imposed on Venezuela for decades? There is no better example of how sanctions don't work and only make the population of the country suffer and not the leaders. Why are people trying to leave Mexico, which is a country where guns are 100% illegal? If you guessed violence from the drug cartels being one of the main reasons, good job. Now, why do drug cartels in Mexico even exist? To supply the gigantic appetite that Americans have. Where are the cartels getting their guns from? Once again the answer is Mexico. I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. I lived in southern US for 10 years and I could not wait to get back. I was so grateful. It's not just the healthcare/guns/racist-religion stuff, it's deciding who you want to be as a culture and in America everything is very predatory, super-capitalist 'end justify the means' ideas. It's really a misery when you know that's not how you have to live.

No way.. I did lived there for a year and could not wait to return home to my safe place. I also watch the news and the gun laws and new abortion rights over there are so out of date, in addition I see way to much political divide and religious influence to make it a desirable place to go. As a Canadian that immigrated from the US over 50 years ago, NO WAY! I still have relatives there, even a brother who lived most of his life in Canada - from age 10 to 50 - lives in the US, and I won't even visit him. Find a lot of the area where you would go as a tourist, full of arrogant a'holes (including my brother). If have, to admit that I do enjoy watching your channel, and I am sure that there are a lot of nice people in small town America, but I have to agree with many of the submissions you read. Don't like the politics, gun violence and political attitude to it, the treatment of minorities, the treatment of women, the villinization of the LGBTQ2 community, the book bans in the schools - MAJOR PROBLEM - the school curriculum being adjusted to reflect history in a whitewashed manner.....I could continue.....but my answer is an obvious HELL NO!

Its their personal experience which could happen to anyone in any other country.\nI have been in Australia, and i can say people here are very respectful and an amazing country to live in. Even in the regional area you will find more and more friendly people. Its all about accepting their culture and be respectful about that. Regarding visas and invitation its all about your skills, experience and your english fluency, if you are above the competition you will surely get nominated. Anyways everyone has their own point of views and their own struggles in life which all have to go through it. Just be patience and give it sometime, things will happen earlier or later.

The best thing that could ever happen for Canada is if the USA took them over and joined as 1 large country! GOD Bless

I am from Quebec City and I love my country ! Honestly, the only place I could possibly consider to move (in the US) for my retirement is Honolulu. Hawaii was one of the best experience of my life and one of my favorite place in the world. Yes it's the US but it's also a country of it's own. The people there are the friendliest people I have ever met in all my travels. In short, Hawaii is the only state I would consider to move and it would surely be a place where I would have a foothold to live there for a few months a year during my retirement... I love my Quebec and my Canada too much :) Thanks a lot for this awesome video !

I bought a house in Florida in 2009 with the intention to move into it 15 years later when I retire. I sold it in 2021. You could not pay me to live in the U.S. now, especially not Florida.

I've always wanted to live in the US, so many happy vacations there as a child and teen. Sadly now due to the health care situation, there's no way I could. If someone makes a lot of money and can afford private insurance and the drugs they need, lucky for them. Especially as a diabetic, the price of insulin is around 5 x in the US what it is here. I don't earn enough to afford the drugs I need if I lived in the US, add in every three month blood work, dr visits, for a self employed person, it's just not doable on what I earn. \n\nAn American I talk to said one of his co workers was being laid off and the co worker was a diabetic and he didn't know what he was going to do without the health insurance the company provided him. It's insane health insurance is tied to employment in the US. people that are self employed would have huge private insurance bills, and people that get laid off or are fired, they could be taking thousands of dollars of drugs a month and all of a sudden it's gone with the job. My mom wouldn't even let us go to the US for a weekend without getting out of the country medical insurance coverage.

Middle America is awesome,people are fantastic and I could easily live there...the mega-cities,not so much !!
