I pay 11.5% of my income directly to pensioners as a contract worker making less than 50K in 2023. At total tax rate of 26% all inclusive. I have to live at home, and I can't find a single job that isn't contract work, and I'm a designer who's worked with F500 companies. The best Canadian rate hourly is 30$, my American contracts have paid 135$ an hour. It's such a bad deal to be a Canadian millennial. Canada has two classes. The ruling pensioner elder class which makes up 60% of the country and everyone else that they've impoverished. Canada has poor pay, worsening living standards, extremely high white collar competition, few job prospects and a disintegrating social fabric. But somehow I think this is the story of the entire commonwealth right now. So that makes us no different, and I don't really believe the grass is greener among the G7 either.

I think the one thing wrong in this video is I don’t believe Canadian’s would rather spend more on living then elsewhere. The cost of housing takes up most income and therefore can’t invest it… not much of an option. For example a dumpy house in Canada costing more then a castle in Poland (not joking).\nI get the importance of Immigration but come on man… i just wana buy a home lol.

We have a leader who seems to be deeply invested in shutting down our oil and gas industry. He shut down oil and gas. Which put hundreds of people out of work. Then he slapped us with a carbon tax. He told us the carbon tax dollars would be invested toward producing green energy projects and manufacturing jobs. So far, the Carbon tax went up again, he banned plastic straws, he’s hitting our farmers with heavy restrictions on fertilizer, because it’s not green enough. \nMany of our indigenous communities have been living for years with contaminated water. He promised he was going to ensure the indigenous communities have access to clean drinking water. He has not fulfilled that promise. \nHe’s bidding $30 billion dollars to hopefully sign a deal to manufacture electric car batteries for Volkswagen. \nHe’s investing in other projects, as well. Unfortunately, he’s only investing in eastern provinces. \nSo far, there has been no investments in western provinces yet. Many of the out of work oil and gas workers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are still waiting on the jobs they were promised. \nLow wages, high inflation, high taxes and high income housing is bringing a lot of us to our knees. \nOur leader is corrupt. It seems like every week there is another corrupt scandal he and his government are involved in. \nI can’t speak for every Canadian, but I can say with absolute certainty that a large number of us are sick and tired of our current leader. Most of us live with the hope that if our leader can get voted out. Canada may have a chance to go back to the way our beautiful country used to be.

Yeah, I've been talking to a Canadian over discord for almost 2 years now trying to learn more about the country and what he told me was shocking. Canadian make about 25% less and pay 33% more in taxes then American and somehow a house in the middle of goddamn nowhere cost as much as a house in Portland. If you live in NYC, SF, or LA yeah you can forget about buying a house but its not like in America housing is unaffordable everywhere like in Canada. In Texas, you can get a big beautiful house for 300k, the catch being that real estate taxes is really high and you still be paying that even after the mortgage been paid off. Florida is affordable but hurricanes, Cleveland is really cheap despite a good reputation, and a house in the rural areas is easily under 100k. Canada pretty much have no houses under 300k which is made worse by the fact that they make less, taxed more, investment is harder + more expensive, and it actually hard to establish credit because they don't have looser standard like in the US.

$57/h value per hour are mostly white Canadians not the immigrants and colored people. Immigrants are making huge mistakes by coming here in Canada and living their good jobs back home. If US today stop investing in Canadian market, the Canada would become like Eastern European countries or may be South American countries. In Canada same goes for jobs. If local government post a job for cleaner then they ask some post secondary education???. Not worth to live here very expensive country. Only people having a good time here are government employees and politicians.

I waited in Mexico for my residence for 3 years when I married my husband, he is Canadian, I never lived illegally in Canada... before, I used to come to work with a work permit and these people cry because their papers did not arrive for a year.., I I was separated from my family for 3 years and I never tried to cross illegally... what happens with these people, they want everything easy and they only abuse the Canadian system

Some of your points are great - some are regional - housing issues are definitely a problem in some cities - Toronto and Vancouver are ridiculous- Calgary at the moment has tight inventory- landlord issues really depend on where you live. Taxes are due April 30th not the 1st. It can be difficult to get hired in your trained profession as an immigrant for the reasons you’ve shared. Our company consists of about 80 percent new immigrants, but we need people with Canadian work experience on their resume. It is costly training - and firing is something we DON’T want to do. So we need good references to hopefully avoid that issue. You were very fortunate to get a Dr so quickly. Again the specialist referral issue truly is more about your Dr than the system. A lousy Dr won’t refer patients because they don’t have the contacts. It’s more complicated than you’ve shared. I have had no problems with referrals because I’ve had good Drs. New Drs will have a harder time and unfortunately those are the ones taking new patients- hopefully those issues change as they get established.

While I sympathize towards those who really need help, there will come a point where Canada can't just take in all these people. The system will be overwhelmed and there might be negative changes in the country with too much people... if we do take in all these people, there has to be really good support for them so they can assimilate into the Canadian culture and work better lives so they won't be a burden...

I have Canadian citizenship, but these and so many other reasons I have decided not to move to Canada due to financial cost and loss making while trying to to live there. I think I will stay here in rainy Ireland :)

Canada life is great, provided you work your *** off. \n\nDon’t come to Canada and do begging on the streets or get free money from government. \n\nWe as Canadians cannot be paying for this as these free money will raise taxes.\n\nCanada winters are harsh so if you are don’t like cold then just stay home.\n\nRents are high as well especially in cities so is your cost of living.

Every single reason you mentioned about why you left Vancouver (Canada) is valid. My husband and I left Vancouver a couple of years ago and have been living in Spain since then. It's been an eye opener. The Covid situation was especially bad and I hate to see how politicians have divided Canada. Under Trudeau, Canada has become a tyrannical state. I am not sure if there will be any hope for change since most Canadians watch CBC and have been brainwashed to believe he has done great for the country.

I just got admission in one of Canadian college, my tuition fees and living expenses are estimated to be $25,000CAD but I only have $18,00CAD to pursue the visa approval. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I live in El Salvador, but I've been thinking about moving somewhere in North America. The US is cool but, I don't want to run across all of the salvadorans who are already there LOL, I want something new. Also, I'd like to still live in, or at least not very far away, from the Americas. I'm too lazy to go to Europe, and have to learn the language there, sorry, I already speak Spanish and English well enough. Only Japan, or Brazil may change my mind, language wise (my Portuguese is enough so I could get by, and I'm also a Japanese music aficionado).\n\nOn the other hand, I love dressing very flamboyant, and, seeing how Canadians wear in the winter, with those huge sweaters and winter clothing, I wonder if it's the place for me ? I’m not trying to be disrespectful to anyone who comes to Canada but if you’re coming here legally, you should be arrested and charged but I also got a question. How are you going to take care of yourself food here is expensive rent is expensive utility bills expensive everything here is expensive, so how are you going to support yourself if you’re coming here with no money no resources it doesn’t make sense to me where the rest of us Canadians who live here are already struggling with high taxes. Canadian here, and this video is right on the money for some of the most frustrating things about Canada! \n\nOur proudest achievement is our healthcare system, but up until recently, the government has been choking it little by little. Making it so difficult for any Doctor/Nurse to even consider finding work here (and making it impossible to afford getting a medical degree) because you are literally doing it for the love of the game at this point. \n\nEven if you become a specialist in a specific field (which pays really well compared to most careers here) it is unlikely any hospital will hire you. Our hospitals are only interested in making profits by pushing painkillers on Canadians, rather than hiring medical professionals to help fix them. If you become a family Doctor, it is a bit better, because you can open your own practice. But kiss your social life goodbye if you do! The most annoying part of this problem is some people blame all this on the fact that we have healthcare and assume a private American system would be better. Where the real problem is we need more workers and funding into our healthcare to make it better. Not making lives harder for poorer Canadians!\n\nWeirdly enough our Tax system issue didn't stand out as a problem to me until I left Canada and see how taxes are marked elsewhere! It blew my mind that I didn't have to do math when I visited another country and the way we advertise wages is purposely deceptive! In Ontario, we succeeded in getting a $14 hour minimum wage (only in Ontario and maybe one other province). Which sounded amazing until you realize that's $14 without tax... To compare, I was incredibly lucky in Toronto where I found a place for 750 a month and was earning $16 an hour. Sounded like more than enough for the cost of living, but after taxes I was pretty much putting more than half my monthly income in rent. On top of that I had to pay for student loans and other bills. \n\nBottom line, if you are wanting to move to Canada for our beautifully scenic environments, free healthcare, and a stable job? \n\nMove to Finland.

Having lived in the US for years before moving to Canada ,I must say that Canada remains & its still better than the US . Of course everyone sure needs peace of mind , adequate security & safety for the whole family . Not guns flying here & there like a movie scene . \nThe only exception I have with living in Canada is the crazy tax rate on goods & services . This is BS ! I have NEVER EVER had to wait a full YEAR to see a doctor. Period . I live in Toronto. I write this in late March 2023. In the USA....you are on YOUR OWN when it comes to things like social issues and healthcare. Your so-called private insurance plans do not ALWAYS cover what YOU THINK they cover regarding healthcare. You could not pay me enough to ever move to the US from Toronto. My parents had MULTIPLE heart-related medical procedures in Ottawa that would have BANKRUPTED them if they were Americans. You are taken care of IMMEDIATELY if your life is in danger when it comes to healthcare. Americans never mention this. This actually happened to my 41-year old daughter. STOP listening to the DRAMATIC LIES among the comments below. Get real. Then there is the HUGE chance of being shot , say , in a school or a church or even a WALMART in the good ol'US of A. Tell me is this what you are wanting from our government? White powerful men murdered, stole land, inflicted disease and forced them onto reserves. They kidnapped their children and forced them to go to residential schools. Many Indigenous children never went back home and parents weren't informed if they died. The survivors that returned home have PTSD which still affects their families and community. Treaties are not honoured and they are the most disrespect people in Canada. There is a huge backlog on legal applications for a lots of immigrants who applied legally, families torn apart and have long weight. They are already in the USA, there are sanctuary cities, New York was just dumping them off there. We tax payers are flipping the bills for them while so many Canadians are living on the streets. Those who are mad and outrage by this, you can go ahead and sponsor them, that mean you are legally responsible for all their expenses. Canadian taxation system and employment is too complicated to outsides. You have to live 10 years in Canada before telling this stories. Very few people own houses in Canada, banks own them and you have to pay taxes from entire artificial value of the house.

Canada's healthcare is not all that. Atleast in Ontario. There is no dental coverage, no eye coverage. But its good for people who old or have critical illnesses since its all covered. \nCanada also has a very weak job market than the U.S. There is almost no opportunity for highly skilled labor. The U.S is a world leader in technology and industry and has more rewarding opportunities for talented people. As a Canadian who has lived in the U.S. I must agree Americans are more willing to be friends with strangers. I also think the U.S is far more culturally diverse but better assimilated. The U.S is a better place if you are talented and hardworking. Canada is a better place if you are a min wager.

You cannot come to Canada on a tourist visa to apply for a job. You can learn about the job market, or come if you are invited for an interview by a Canadian employer, but not apply with the intention of not going back home, if you are entering with a tourist visa.\n\nIt is possible for foreign citizen young adults to work in Canada in certain sectors like tourism, but this doesn't put you on the path to citizenship. \n\nThe best way immigrate is is to learn about the job needs (like healthcare) and to get those qualifications in your country, if possible. Many times, you can read about this in the job postings on the internet. You should also avoid colleges that are set up for foreign students to get their student visa, and which don't have any Canadian students (of which there are many). The government is making it harder for these graduates to stay in the country. Moreover, if you are not well educated, you won't make enough money to be able to afford the high cost of living in a large city like Toronto or Vancouver. You would be better to be a licensed electrician or tradesperson and work in more remote areas or central Canada. Canada admits many immigrants very year, and if you are not well qualified, you will be competiting with these workers for work, with lower pay and job security, in sectors like food service and day-care.

As a Canadian don't see them surviving here. Won't be able to work without a Sin number and rent is extremely expensive. They will be living on the streets in the cold.

As Nigerians you can rightly look down on all the other African countries.... And we Americans look at Canadians as if they live in Mozambique or one of those stupid kingdoms in south Africa that are not anything without south Africa.
