Why are people who clearly understands history..learned history act like the countries belong to them? Never was theirs and never will be. All are on borrowed time.

I see he is a family man and hard working but you need to learn the language and not move again and again in order to avoid these appointments. If they tell you bring you papers and that is it. Not showing up shows that ypu are unwilling to comply with the laws. You are breaking the law my good sir.

I agree with a lot of the things said in the comments. He didn't properly look into what is required for refugee status and came illegally so shouldn't receive preferential treatment. However, his not speaking English...where could he go to learn as an illegal immigrant? And likely he had to work long hours to save money for lawyers, etc. The language thing to me seems a bit harsh. He may even know passable English, but the reporters may have wanted the interviews to go more smoothly and so spoke in his native language.

You are looking for a place to start your life? How about your own country. If you've been in America for 20 years, and you've NEVER put in the time to learn the language. If you want to fit in here and make it more easily, you need to speak English. And they have free classes all over America that teach English to people from South America. If you want to make a life in any country you have to make an effort to fit into their country.

It is just plain rude not to learn the language of the country in which you want to reside!

This is strange, how they chose a subject for reportage. Refuge status is not for everyone who want to improve there economic situation. He must to prove that his life and life of his family was in danger, that he was discriminated and absolutely not have other choice, but ask for refuge in other country. It is very difficult to prove, even if it is true. 90% of all entry asking refugee status will go home. It look like he should try to make professional immigration and not waste his time on something that he never receive\nIt is amazing, how he feel in title, real refuge simply not have 15000$ to spend on lawyers \nJournalist must learn a little bit about subject before report on it.

He is not speaking English and expecting to find a job in English speaking country? If these people really want to be in another country please at least learn to speak the language....in ten years at least learn to speak English...you want to live but not really participate or asymilate just use the country...

Why is he speaking in Spanish?! He was in America for 15 years and you are speaking Spanish. You want to raise your family in a country that is not native to you, take time to learn the language will help.

He's illegally in the US and never learns to speak English then goes to Canada and doesn't speak English or French? He hasn't put forth much effort to assimilate. Try coming through Ellis Island in the late 1800s and early 1900s and not knowing English. You're an evil racist if you say these things but it's the truth. If you want to move out of your country you learn the Language and assimilate. The problem with the immigrants from Central America is they want to live in our country but continue to live life as they did there. Assimilate or leave.

That makes him and his family CRIMINALS, and rightfully so... They should be found immediately, arrested and subsequently deported back to the US to face whatever charges, and then deported back to his home country... Period...

Most countries have immigration laws enforced. Hahaha.. What was he thinking!? They are more strict than the USA. Point: Lesson learned don't illegally enter countries.

My grandpa had to learn French when he emigrated to Canada from Holland more than a hundred years ago. When him and my grandma emigrated to the United States, they learned English and gained citizenship. They only had two kids and my grandpa employed people who he refused to let go during the depression in the 1930’s. What have you done for our country?
