I am Brazilian, also an immigrant in Canada. In my case, in Quebec. I lived similar experiences here too. It's tough. But if it's really your dream, don't give up. Make your efforts and people will help you on the way. Keep on trying and make good loving friends.

I moved to Canada over 20 years ago from Kenya, and it's safe to say that this has been the best decision I ever made for myself and my family. Today, I want to share some insights with those who are considering making Canada their new home.
\n
\nCanada boasts one of the world's most robust social systems, but let me be clear: it won't be a stroll down a red carpet from the airport to your dream life. You will need to put in the effort and work for it.
\n
\nIf you're a nurse from your home country, don't expect to land in Canada and start working as a nurse the next day. You'll need to go through the process of becoming registered in this country, just as you would in any other part of the world.
\n
\nWhen you arrive in Canada, give yourself time. Follow the established systems, and trust that these systems are designed to work for you. Fortunately, there are no shortcuts or backdoors in this well-structured country.
\n
\nWhether you're coming to Canada as a Landed Immigrant or a refugee, understand that there are distinct pathways to follow. Canada has a well-defined system for both.
\n
\nNow, you might have heard stories of people sleeping on the streets of Toronto for a brief moment. But let me clarify that these instances were temporary and not reflective of the broader reality. The media may not always provide the full context of such stories.
\n
\nIn major companies and hospitals across Canada, you'll find a significant number of employees who are immigrants, just like us. This illustrates the opportunities that exist in this diverse and inclusive nation.
\n
\nFor those planning to come to Canada, it's crucial to have access to the right information and cultivate the right mindset. With patience, perseverance, and a willingness to follow the system, your journey to a brighter future in Canada is well within reach.

While settlement in Canada is hard, packing up to go back soon after is even worse. While it’s a good country to come when you’re young, it’s hard for old people to adjust, especially the weather.\n\nI feel you got tired too early, just because you had to do all your work yourself. This is way of life in most countries and I’m surprised you didn’t know.\n\nFor sure you overlooked your kids’ future by refusing to sacrifice a few things. For them it would have been worth. Besides, you overplayed the fear of drugs in your mind.\n\nWell live where you are happy instead of taking rash decisions to upset lives.\n\nGood Luck

Have you seen the ones (refugees) being bussed around New York and other US states? If you come in the right way (to any Western country, Canada or otherwise) your assimilation will be much smoother. Moving to a new country (or even city for that matter) is always riddled with challenges, not just financial, also social, technological etc. As an East African immigrant to Canada, I meet a lot of newer immigrants with over ambitious and dreamy expectations, most having entered the wrong way!

Great job n great research by the Nitish Rajput's team. This is 100% true, most of the people migrated to Canada in 80s-90s remember punjab negatively. Most of the news these people hear is through the indian media houses which very negative. They expect the same rights from indian government as they get from Canadian government. Most of the Khalistani supporting got active because of ruling party politics where a regular sikhs whose son, brother n father served in indian army and marines is called Khalistani without any reason. This has definitely created a divide in society, and media houses are also spreading the negativity towards a community. \n\nWahi baat h ki Modi is not india n humei ni pasand uski politics. Doesn't mean ki hum anti nationalist hogye or we hate modi. Bhai nahi pasand humei politics jo society mei divide kre. First thing a sikh child is taught is that everyone is equal. Ab tum fundamentals attack kroge toh humei ni pasand ayega.

I have been living in Toronto for more than 2 year now and in addition to their contribution to India, I have huge respect for the Punjabi/ Sikh community in Canada. Despite whatever derogatory comments the locals might have, reality is they are honest and extremely hardworking people. The seva offered to everyone at various Gurudwaras is just so emotionally overwhelming. Unfortunately, there is one section- mostly the international students who have recently arrived seem to be influenced by Punjabi pop music and try to emulate which looks absolutely cringe and stupid. The situation now is their stupidity gets recorded and posted on social media which has resulted in local stereotyping the entire Punjabi/ Sikh population as destructive immigration.

Toronto has changed because of the immigration policies of inept Prime Minister Justin Trudeau... since he took power... Toronto is full to hell... bringing immigrants from Pakistani India and other countries that do not have the culture of people born in Canada…they only come to destroy the country and bring them with citizenship papers so they can vote for him and remain in power

Hey Lynn, I pray that you are well, I live in Canada but currently in Kenya on ministry for about two months.\nHii stori ni mrefu, As you say, things are not easy everywhere, One has to do what is needed or required of them anywhere they live. Yes, it can be extremely hard in Canada but again, it can be the best direction one takes in life. \nThe question is not where you want to be, the question is always where does God want me to be. Maisha ni ya God. Good job and God bless.

Canada needs a cooling off period from immigration. We have a lack of housing crisis and unaffordable rentals. To bring more people into this country will further the problem, and continue to have higher inflation. This is not acceptable!!!!

The Truth is the developed countries have lots of opportunities to offer only if you go with the right intention. The problem with we Africans we like short cuts in everything. If you go to Canada as a tourist or visitors Visa and then you end up doing refugee status think you smart jokes will be on you. Let's talk with people who have gone to canada with PR or work visa and tell us their experience. Then we will know if moving to Canada is a good or bad idea.

I want to live in Kenya. I have lived in Canada for 30 years. Canada is a lonely country, not easy to make friends at all. I was born in Europe and came to Canada. I had the same opportunities were I came from. I have always been interested in buying land. However, to buy land in Canada, it will never actually be yours. In Africa, if you were not born in any of the 54 countries, you can only lease the land. There is a big difference knowing that you can pass land on to your family , creating generational wealth. There are pros and cons in many things in life. Had I known then , what I know now, I would have stayed in Europe.

Living in USA is very different from living in Canada. Mortgages in Canada is very expensive compared to USA. Utilities, insurance, gas, food,, clothes is twice high in Canada. A simple google search can show that. I had moved from USA to Canada and had to return to the USA. Winters are so long in Canada just heating your house takes up half of your paycheck. Agencies are selling Canada more because its harder to get USA visa

Gun crime in Canada between Sikh gangs is very common but is only now being noticed. Remember Gohel in the 1990's he was involved in 20 murders.

I’m Canadian living , for 15 years living here I would like to say Canada is a wonderful place. Many opportunities if peoples acknowledge the requirements. Foreign education is not expected here they have to upgrade and get Canadian education before any thing starts.

IF CANADAV IS JUST A TRAP, WHY MAKE YOUR MONEY AND INVEST BACK IN CANADA? WHY NOT INVEST IN THE CARIBEAN????
|
| 2023-10-02 | 0 |
I am from the carribean living in canada since I was 20 now 50 still living in canada just doing the job I love babysitting even if I have a medical deplome in health care and able to work with the Government. You cam make it if you're money smart but the best thing to do first is to invest in your own country first because the trap is if you invest in the country you move to you will be working and paying bills for ever. The skill and luck is what makes it like me. Plus stay as long with roommates until you save enough money to invest in your country.

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you Lynn! Continue being the good person you are boo❤️. \nHere are my two cents on this matter: Not only in Canada, but people who get an opportunity to come abroad, should \n1: Know where you are going before you get there (stop doing things out of desperation). Know where you are going to work, know your host company, if you can’t find out by yourself, please ASK people who have been there, they can help you. \n2: Use appropriate agents (can you use eligible organizations instead of these one to one agent’s?) \n3: Make sure you follow the government procedures guys!!! (This keeps you on a safer place!!!!!!) many people skip this in the name of ‘janja janja’ just to get there. But if you follow the procedures and do the paperwork, guys huwezi tu kuenda mahali.\n4: KNOW YOUR HOST COMPANY! (Do research ? make sure it’s a legal company), UNDERSTAND YOUR CONTRACT before you choose to travel. Please this is very important. You can seek deep information about what you are going to do, information is everywhere guys. SEEK information. Many people just want to go ‘majuu’ but they don’t seek information yawa??♀️\n5: Lower your expectations (you can’t just blossom in two months). Usikuje na idea at ohhh I will be investing home blah blah! Manze, pia huku kuna bills, the rents, the TAXES, you still need to eat and your whole welfare! \nAnd don’t go majuu thinking things are easy there, NOOO guys It’s never easy! People just SURVIVE ?.

I think it's a matter of where someone's blessings are. We have people who go there and are successful and probably live there, we have those who go there maybe for further studies but end up working in their home countries. We have others who don't go there at all they make it in life in their respective countries. I think one thing that people need to figure out is , if this dorbst work, what else can i do and where else can I go before I waste so much time on something that is not working. \nSi ata wewe Lynn ulikua majuu and here you are living your purpose in your own country...\nSo people should gree to make changes especially their beliefs that when you go to Canada you must make it there and therefore you stay there for so long and by the time you realize that place ain't for you, you've wasted so much and you start regretting..

Hi, I am also from Zimbabwe, and I have lived in both Australia and Canada. I left Australia 2009 because I felt the place was not an open society. In Canada job opportunities can also be tricky for immigrants. I moved back to Australia after 10 years in Canada. At the end of the day the choose is yours but the grass is not always greener on the other side. Calgary is just identical to Perth. I would advise you to live in Toronto. In Australia I live in Melbourne now.
