DEMAND is WAAAAY up, thats why the housing is expensive (see how that works?). We have been ranked second best country to live in, only beaten by Sweden. Regarding making friends... it is hard making friends in Canada. Even if you are an introvert and you come to Canada alone eventually you will want to make friends to find an spouse. People in Canada are too politically correct that will barely talk to you... so the advise is trying to find your own group of people: church/religion, hobbies, etc. and take initiative to invite people to hang out , etc.

Ok hold on a second. Im an offshore person who wants to immigarte to Canada. Ive spent a huge chunk of money for IELTS and Evaluation of my education solely for thst purpose. How the greedy landlords manipulate the market is not being talked about enough. Your government decides to increase immigration because you guys have been complaining about labor shortage. The majority of immigrants are living off basic salasy at an entry level job, are you sure they are the major driver?

I am talking to my friends and family back home and they all say, you are in better condition than us, at least you are earning with dollars. Lol what? I spent with dollars too. It’s not like I earn with dollars and go back and spent with 1:20 ratio. And you are spending 2000$ flight ticket to get there which used to get it for 800$ with promotion. They are like everything is 10x more expensive. Everything is 2x more expensive but when you have high quality lifestyle the feels like is actually a lot more. Mortgage rates went up 5 times more compared to the one in covid times. That impacts who has variable mortgage or the one has fixed concerned about their renewal. That impacts on rentals because most of the owners are paying their mortgages thru these rents. You did a Good comparison on salary vs rent that will help people understand.

Canada, ha you mean India, in the last decade 100s of 1000s of Indians have flooded to Southern Ontario (which by all measures is Canada) to the point that sometimes one feels like they are stranger in a strange land. Of the 2.2 million who arrived last year approx 500,000 are students They are huge profit centre for landlords and colleges and universities. And let's not talk about healthcare!!!\n\nThe other huge issue is healthcare - forget about getting a family doctor these days it's a choice between MAID or going to the US to get life saving healthcare (paid out of pocket of course). If you only knew the half of it.I live 4hrs from this in in Midland TX.The people that support this have not or would not ever support this again after witnessing an invasion that will slowly devour, our Nation ,our jobs, our Healthcare ,our safety ,our sanity. For housing, something that needs to be and should be discussed is the land base. \nI know some real estate players in BC that laugh when people talk about housing and affordability, they say look at the landbase and who controls it. In BC its a crazy amount to 94% and only 5% available for ownership of the people. No option to apply and buy anymore and only lease. That is why even rural lands in BC 40 to 60 minutes outside of a teir two or three city is still thousands per acre! To the coast to coast to coast average its 88%+ controlled by governments and not the people. Do the math there and you will start to see the connection. \n\nAlso, for health-care, its not free just paid for through taxes by the governments on the people. It is broken in so many ways and most likley too big to fix kr repair now without a full ripdown and build up. \n\nMany orher things but just my initial points.

I can't stand this place and especially people! It's sooo dreadful, if I spoke truthfully the comment would get auto deleted. So since it turned out to be the polar opposite of the propaganda and how Canadians talk about themselves to the world (and the type of immigrants who fled poverty and had absolutely nothing back home and for whom Canada is actually an upgrade of sorts), I'll just use Canada as a stepping stone to get back to the US where I studied and got all my degrees and the place was infinitely better than Canada in almost every area. And there people are actually normal, like they'll talk to you, invite you to their home or to go out, make sure you aren't alone for Thanksgiving, etc. In Canada there's none of that, you're on your own! To me living in Canada is a nightmare!

Canada and Australia have so much in common incl. genocidal monarchs as national heads except for the weather i.e., snow vs desert/temperate grassland. As an Aussie, I’ve lived most of my life in Australia — I was making Au$200,000/yr and my partner is an ICU nurse who made around Au$100,000/yr — and by my standards our life was average in real terms although most (ignorant) Aussies would say we had a great life. Thing is, most Aussies (and Canadians) haven’t experienced anything better whereas I have lived and worked in four countries and my partner has lived and worked in three — we appreciate good living standards and I’ve noticed that most Canadians and Aussies don’t even know what we mean when we talk about such things. Anyway we permanently moved to the US this year because I’m also American — now finally we can start a family!

Without sufficient infrastructure to support this kind of population growth, the GDP per capita has been dropping and housing costs have gone through the roof due to the great gap between supply and demand. The politicians only talk about the shortage of supply but let’s face it they can never build faster enough for the people they bring in. As a result, people will keep fighting for the scarcity and fuel on the Canadian housing speculation.

What is the cost of living like in Europe compared to Canada. I would be curious to see that comparison. Also what about inflation, health care, crime rate, etc… \nThis also talks about Toronto a lot, one of the most expensive place in the country to live in. Housing there is unaffordable for many of us. All other places aside from Vancouver are more affordable.

Due to the opening of our borders to a country of over 1B people, sometimes you will look around and be surrounded by 80% Indians. And the people here do not like it. More than I've ever seen before, from talking between friends and posts on social media, there is dislike of immigrants in Canada.

Yeah when Dilpreet was talking about a program and college she had no idea about, I seen it happen here in Manitoba. An international student said she didnt like the IT course I am in and it was kind of too late for her to drop out considering she's international.
