I don’t know if people realize that there is a bunch of factories in Canada near the border that make fentanyl. Trudeau is imposing tariffs on the U.S. to make everything Canadians import from the U.S. that they need more expensive to Canadians and Trump is doing the same thing for everything from Canada though we need none of it and therefore will stop buying any of it. Back in 2016, Trump introduced 25% tariffs on China 301-classification imports that severely damaged my business. For whatever reason, he then exempted the tariffs, but the public still assumed that they were in place. It was a perfect Trump win-win move to make the voters think that he was acting tough, while actually exempting the tariffs for us importers. Unfortunately, Biden got into office and immediately took away the exemptions and screwed us. I mention all of this in order to exemplify how nothing is as it seems when it comes to Trump. Sometimes you have to let this stuff play out before overreacting. I think that Canada made a mistake by overreacting so quickly. This will force Trump's hand to pursue the trade war, even if it was not his actual intention.

Honestly everyone is to blame. Canada and Mexico have both been riding the American gravy train for decades and never got slapped by any of the former presidents. And now that a president who puts the US first comes along everyone acts like America and our president is in the wrong. Just because something wrong was allowed to happen for so long that doesn't mean it was right. So two things these tariffs will do to Canada. One your economy isn't exactly stellar right now. Two Trump just has to pump up the pressure further and Canada will fold. It's that simple. As for Mexico they are squarely attached to America's teet. They need us WAY more than we need them. They will fold. And during negotiations we will make them ok US military operations on the Cartels. All people see is the word tariffs and don't think about the strategy behind them. Tariffs are a tool to apply pressure and gain leverage. Canada and Mexico would do the same if they could. So lets stop with the pearl clutching.

Maybe I shouldn't like this but I do. Firstly, Canada has the luxury of not really needing to protect itself, they get to spend 3% what the US does on their military so they can focus on other things, like letting immigrants into the Country to price out the native Canadians and jailing people for misusing pronouns. Also, I want to see the US become slightly more isolationist, I'll happily pay more for US products. A tariff is paid buy the businesses who attempt to pass that cost down to the consumer. We need tariffs high enough that making things in the US makes more sense to these businesses.

For a start I'm thinking of all that farmland in CA that will have water and a good reason to grow crops now because of Trump and the increase of jobs when we have to make our own stuff.\n However, I am in favor of letting Canada sell their goods in China or Russia since that is likely where all the fentanyl and illegal immigrants are coming from and I know 1% doesn't sound big when DW says it but with an estimated 15 million illegal immigrants in America from the Biden admin alone that would be 150,000 from Canada.
