Obviously, no country is perfect, but I moved to the US this year and really like iit, Canadians can get US work visas like TN or L1 adjudicated at the airport, a huge benefit as US consulates are very slow.\n\nMy reasons for prefering the US:\n\nMuch better career opportunities, paid morre, less tax,most things are cheaper , from eggs to houses, even Amazon..much better selection and variety in the US.\n\n\nLiving in cold weather is bad for your health, sunshine and being outdoors is much better. Even in November I can go outside in shorts. The long winters in Canada are depressing and bad for your health.\n\nUS has every climate, if I want cold/snow, I can go to Colorado or Montana etc..you can go to Florida, Hawaii ...Vegas NY..\n\n\nMuch better flight options available in the US. Houses are cheaper and bigger.\n\nMuch better infrastructure and highway network in the US, awesome for road trips, very clean rest stops.\n\nMuch better to be paid in USD, helps when you travel the world, CAD is worthless.\n\nAgain, if you are in your 20s/30s, and qualify, emigrate to the US.

Did the people who left those neighborhoods leave voluntarily? I am an American. My house became surrounded by Muslim neighbors. I was repeated harassed. I had the police called because I was grilling pork, had a statue of The Virgin Mary in my yard, and not requiring the women in family to dress according to Sharia Law. I’ll ask again a question I’ve asked many times before, if that life was so great why did you leave the country you emigrated from?

Yes I agree Canada’s prosperity was build by emigrants but there is a “but” by emigrants from Italy, Ireland, emigrants from Eastern European countries skilled workers, housing was booming. Now Canada gets 1/2 million of Amazon workers from India, Home Depot, Pearson Airport. Canada use to be multi cultural now is becoming one culture.

Actualy all my friends who emigrated to canada in early 2000's are already back. I see we exeprience all over the planet the same cost of living problem, but what hapenes in canada is quite hard to endure

It makes huge difference what field one is, engineer doctor etc. Now a days both india n canada can b enjoyed not like 50 years ago. Also at what age v emigrate too makes huge diff. Visit visa yo right and correct thou there other channels, you could enroll for a short course at any college or university, after you can b legit to apply for a work permit.. You could give in for asylum, looks pretty a long process but also if done tactfully that's one of the most legit ways. Alot of emigrants have different sucesful stories. Still if yo in Canada you can look for work and work illegally to fend for the small probs as u pursue legit paperwork its possible 100 percent thou risky

Yep, I emigrated to Canada (Toronto) in 1994 and lived there for seven years. The property prices were out of reach even then, so we moved east and bought a house in Pickering. We then moved to Calgary in 2002 and started a business. Now retired, own properties, and grateful to help others find reasonably priced accommodation. I speak often with my fellow immigrants, and many are returning home. Canada has become too expensive for them - and increasingly unsafe.

The vast (I do mean vast) majority of Nigerians live in absolute poverty and in virtual war zones. I think it really depends on the type of person you are and what you're looking for. I've lived in central Toronto for 25 years, and a few more in the suburbs prior. Family emigrated here from the UK when I was 10. Really look forward to the prospect of going back to the UK when I don't have a regular job (semi retire) anymore for a variety of reasons. Nice to live in Canada, but long for the beauty of the town and country life in England.

Doctors won't emigrate to Canada and the U.S. unless they're from impoverished countries or unless they're so determined to work there they apply to train for thwir residency there, which has become borderline impossible.\nSo, basically, almost no Western IMG will move to either country.

I can only speak as someone from a developed country, but for me the biggest barrier to even considering emigrating to the US was always the state of their healthcare system and the associated costs. Canada having a system much more similar to my own (UK) made it the obvious choice when it came to emmigrating.

I graduated from the one of the top engineering universities in Canada (a place that Facebook hires the most engineers from). I was born in India and moved here as a kid. despite the fact I am Canadian Citizen and specialize in semiconductor engineering (something that is needed badly in US) it is nearly impossible for me to emigrate there and have a chance at citizenship or green card. It is quite a frustrating process. US Immigration system and the uncertainty surrounding it is one of the biggest reasons I have not gone down for even work.

Well, despite many of the answers here, there are more Canadians emigrating to the US than Americans immigrating here. Considering the population difference, the disparity is huge. To make things worse, most of the emigrants are highly educated in specialized industries. Often, it's for economical reasons as income in some industries is ridiculously higher in the US than anywhere else in the world, Canada included. This brain drain is one of the reasons cited for the expected poor economic growth for Canada in the coming decade, at least compared to other developed nations. The one saving grace here is that there are a lot more qualified immigrants coming in from other countries than Canadian emigrants.

I'm British, now retired and living in Spain for 20 years. Have noticed that in the last 10 years there are an awful lot of Americans who are moving here mainly because, although they still have to have private health, it's hugely cheaper here and the service is good; also the lifestyle is more laid back and they can visit a lot of different cultures. In the late 1960s my husband and I emigrated to Toronto, Canada. Visited the US a couple of times. First to NY city, second time down to Kentucky /Tennessee. My parents came on that trip with us. Met Americans at the motels we stayed in and a couple of times my father nearly lost it (don't know how he just kept quiet) as Americans his age were quite abusive and kept on about about how we'd never be able to repay America for their help in WW2 (my father fought in that for all 6 years). Anyway left Canada after 4 years and returned to England; not because we didn't like it but I was terribly homesick. None of the Canadians we're still in touch with would ever have moved to the US.

A problem created by Justin Trudeau's Virtue Signalling. Instead of ensuring that all Peoplekind wanting to emigrate to Canada were properly vetted both to protect Canadians and all other emigrants he opened Canada's borders without any oversight. I’m a dual citizen, and I’ve noticed that the most highly skilled, highly motivated, entrepreneurial Canadians tend to emigrate to the States. Why work hard and take risks when the government is just going to confiscate more than half your income? Not to mention how the Trudeau regime has become increasingly corrupt and authoritarian.

It is unfair to the people like me who goes through rigorous process and many interviews with US embassies (even emigration officials on arrival) just to enter the US through official procedures.

My wife of 32 years came to the United States legally in 1987, we met in 1990 and got married one year later, she has fully integrated as an American. My wife is the first person to tell you that the illegal aliens coming over the border is wrong on so many levels, first is we do not know who is coming over that border, second it is not impossible to emigrate to the United States, it just takes time, effort, and a clean record. These people crossing the border have no respect, come for free handouts, nearly all of them commit crimes once here, from murder, prostitution, drug trafficking, theft, child trafficking, assaults, and robberies. This is an attempt by the Democrats to create a Socialist Marxist System in our country, the illegal entry into this country has got to stop, and Democrats must be held responsible for doing this to the American citizens and people who came here legally.
