Canada is being too gentle in its initial response. Why not go full throttle right from the get go. It’s shameful what “the most powerful country in the world”,”the land of the free” or whatever arrogant nickname the USA wants to go by. It makes me so sad to feel so angry at the USA knowing that so many of its citizens are good, great people. How can a country which has contributed so so much to the world become so reviled? I’m agog.

There's many reasons not to like Trudeau up here in Canada, many of which are the reason he'll (rightfully) no longer be the PM next week. As a conservative I hated him for SNC-Lavalin (among other scandals), and the fact that his inexperience with the economy Harper left him is probably part of why this trade war is going to hurt more than it could have, and the fact that he's often been kind of a phony more concerned with looking and sounding good for the press cameras. Not this time. Nothing phony here; I've got to give credit to him for capturing the national mood pretty much perfectly with this speech. Good on him. \n\nAnd congratulations as well to Donald for pretty much handing the Liberals their best shot at a fourth term, too. What an absolute idiot. Normally I'd turn my nose up at having to vote Liberal, but I am so, so sick of the brand of empty populism Trump stands for that it looks like that's what I'm gonna be doing come election time.

As an American, I stand with Canada. Most of us love Canada, and tons of Americans did not want this. Still, too many did because they don’t understand what they’re doing.

For all of you GO Canada people. The majority of Canadians oppose what our government is doing. This man has destroyed our economy and done everything he could to stop international trade of LNG and oil by shutting down all pipeline and LNG PROJECTS WE HATE THIS MAN. It is not Trump BAD it is everything Trudeau did above and more that killed us. these Tariffs would mean nothing to us if he hadn’t fiscally destroyed us. We are getting what we deserve. Unfortunately it will lead to destitution of many people. I can’t wait to see his party gone. We are running out of time.

WE didn't do this. WE fought against it. We tried to explain & warn people about what is happening & what will happen, but you didn't EFFING LISTEN. WE are ANGRY. WE will NOT help any of you who caused this & this includes every MSM who is too afraid to speak truth to power. Start doing that NOW. Start with THIS: It's called The Gulf of Mexico, NOT the Gulf of America. Eff every Trump supporters & GOP politician--at EVERY level of government. Trump can TRY to hide what he's doing to the economy in his stupid reports. Do you honestly believe the average American pays attention to those? No, most are too busy worrying over how to pay their bills & all they'll see is that their situation is getting worse. They can't find a job. They can't afford gas. They can't afford groceries. You can't cover any of that up. WE stand with Canada, Ukraine, the EU, & every other ally nation. Not Russia. Putin can go straight to hell & the sooner the better.

Great, unambiguous words by the Canadian president! But one of his remarks stood out: he said that the tyrants want to divide us. He is correct, of course. But the implications are profound! This means that Trudeau himself is measuring his words and deliberately using diplomatic language. He even says that Trump is “intelligent”, which only plays into the imbecile’s unfortunate NPD psychology! The unwillingness to stand strong against American tyranny is harming democracy worldwide! Force Trump to declare a side! And make him choose Putin or democracy NOW!! If you fail to do that, you are taking the path of accommodation, and if Trump is really a tyrant (which he surely is, because of MANY evidences!!), democratic countries weaken their position by not standing strong NOW. If Europe and Canada and Mexico ban Tesla imports and place 50% tariffs on tens of billions of dollars of American products, what would happen? Are these countries AFRAID of the United States? This is not the time for fear! This is the time for courage! Boycott!!!

Just curious why so many support Canada as Americans? If you look at the spending and trade throughout the world, America and Americans have been footing the bill for a long time. I would imagine, that if their Conservative Party Leader Poilievre wins the upcoming election, he will be able to straighten out many of the troubles that have been caused by the World Economic Forum Puppets and their agenda. I sincerely apologize for the MAGA Republicans that appear to have lost their minds. Why so many people support a wannabe dictator, I do not know. Why so many people failed to vote, I do not know. Too little too late Trudeau! Why is Canada still short 2,000 border guards? Why are no railway containers still not checked? Why is still only 1% of shipping containers checked? Why did you leave the borders wide open for nine years, allowing illegal drugs and immigrants to cross over? How many more illegal drug labs are still running in Canada that we don't know about? How much fentanyl is crossing the border into the US from Canada that wasn't caught (only 1% was caught)?

Canada and America should work together. Trudeau is the only one talking about a trade war. Think about that... Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on many countries who later came to the Whitehouse and invested billions to bring business here. Canada has enjoyed the American gravy train for long enough. Just look at the comparison between how much money goes into Canada and how much of that America actually sees a return on.

Agree with Trudeau here, and as a Canadian conservative, that’s not something I say easily. But let’s get real here. Trump is NOT a smart guy. He has cratered most businesses he’s started, he has no understanding of economics whatsoever and he speaks like a five-year old. I'm Danish - we have a big movement in Denmark to boycot American goods. The US has failed in so many ways. They will learn - perhaps to late - what the price is. In the mean time I urge people around the world who supports Ukraine, Mexico, Canada and Europe - who supports the right to freedom - to buy goods from each other. As an American, I wish Canada and Europe godspeed. There are too many morons ready and willing to trade away our freedoms and republic for promises of authoritarianism.
