ok so muslims say they should be able to wear what they want so their women cover up. but then when you ask them about western women they say they should cover up and SHOULD NOT be able to dress the way they do. liberals who think they are being so free and open minded need to open their eyes to the religion they are trying to defend. muslims routinely abuse the freedoms that are afforded to them while living in a democratic society that hypocrisy becomes second nature to them. the women that was interviewed says we get dressed up put on fancy clothes and make up with other women, even though to do that is haram in islam and is only meant to attract men. ignorance and regression will lead to the downfall of every western country. it is simply a fact and somehow it always comes off as fear mongering when it is said, no religion should ever have a right over any society. if there was a religion where it was ok to behead people who dont believe in that religion would it be ok for people to believe it, oh wait ISLAM.

Why is it that you have plenty to say about muslim women having their right to wear the burka but when I had to go to Jeddah when one of your stinking, rotten, filthy men, blew up my husband,s car, with him in it, that......... Because he couldn,t get out of his death bed to come to the airport to get me, they were going to send me back to the UK on the plane I had arrived in and..... I wasn,t allowed to leave that airport until I had a burka on! You people make me sick to my stomach and if it had ever been up to me, not one of your lousy people would have ever been allowed to stain my soil.

I'd be interested to know how freely those women would be to not wear the full covering. I understand they said they chose it, but what if they changed their minds? So they place themselves above every other women... It's insulting.

Let's just put it this way. Any religion based on the teachings of a pedophile, that had slaves, that raped women, and taught that having black skin makes you less of a person is not going to be to stable. Plus the fact that it dictates that all other religions should be subjugated to them. The men are to be killed and the women given as sex slaves... Ya religion of peace there. Muslim women here in Canada are not subject to the same lifestyle as they would be in Islamic countries. They choose to follow the Islamic faith only in ways they feel are applicable to them and what they want personally. Not what the faith demands of them. There is a great difference.

well not quite with the niqab, it started in Saudi its not a religious requirement but it stops men from being tempted by your looks, it does not raise the women to a higher standard, if this were the case you would walk beside your man, you would pray beside your man, its suppression plain and simple

lets act like them, if you see a nikab, just tell her you take it off, or i kill you, if a grownup women is stupid enought to wear that in Canada, she doesn t deserve any respect or rights, Would you respect somebody wearing the nazi uniform ? The full niqab - what a great outfit for robbing banks or hiding bombs - there is no way men would be able to conceal themselves this way and there is no way women should be allowed to conceal their identity. And to boot there is nothing in the Koran saying women should wear the niqab - it is a much older tribal custom.

These women have no idea how real Islam looks. If they lived under Shariah law as is what they would have to do if they lived in Saudi or some where they live under Shariah they would soon find out that a westernized view of islam is nothing like the real thing. Islam is a diabolical evil ideology designed to look like religion.

As a multi generational Canadian, I don't really care whether they cover their face or not. That's their choice. During my life I've seen all these different forms of conservative dress from catholic nuns, to Hutterites to Mennonites and these people are just part of the mix. What this is designed to do is to create a barrier between themselves and the larger society which is fine. I would never interact with one of these woman ever because the thin flimsy barrier makes it clear that she is not interested in talking to anyone for any reason and again this is fine. If she was with a man I would talk only with the man and completely ignore her and if she was with a male child I would talk to the male child, not to her. I don't normally chat with women who are strangers other than now and then in a supermarket line or whatever. This face thingy frees me from the need of chitchat small talk and I'm good with that. In any case we would have absolutely nothing in common.

You know what ...\n\neverythings fucked in some sense. I don't mind, nor is it my business how another life wishes to exist. The only thing I know is that In Canada there have been many fundamental aspects that are maintained by Canadians. Such as freedom of expression, freedom from limitations based off of sex or other social cliches and so on. \nSure we tolerate all different ways of life. This is a new wave of idealogies that will bring back the old imprisoning features, just with a new way of presenting it. We eventually found a harmony with Christianity. We will Find one with Islam. \n\nI really dont understand this religion though. I dont get why a women would want to conceal what she is. I guess I have to research it... I got more important things to do though than to read some other persons doctrine on how to exist thankyou very much.

I don't mean to be rude but how is burqa a choice? Why would anyone want to dress up in a black robe covering from head to toe, except eyes and sometimes eyes too? I know it's religious thing but how can one make it a personal choice to wear it? That too women? It's ok for men, they only have so many colours in their attire to choose, but women? Seriously? I think burqa should be for Muslim men who are ok with wearing the same colour everyday (in general). I like hijab, the head scarf, it comes in so many colours and it's so pretty, hijab makes you beautiful. Not burqa or niqab.

Oh lets call it what it really is ... The niqab looks ridiculous.  It looks like what a bank robber or someone with a facial defect would wear.  The hijab should not be mandatory either.   Even the Quaran is not specific about the modest attire it prescribes (for both sexes).  There is too much pressure for Muslim women to put on this stupid attire.   It's pathetic that Muslims have to fear speaking out to even mildly criticize their religion and truly horrifying that most Muslims actually support killing people for leaving the religion.

I would like to come and experience and be educated more about Islam I am a new Muslim Canadian women but with my husband not here with me in Canada I find it hard to learn on my own. I would love to come to Ontario to know more about Islam if there is any chance for my Muslim brothers and sisters to help me with this Please . Thank You

I would like to know if these women have ever been to Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan? Your sisters in these places dont have the chance to speak freely, speak to other men. I would like to remind these girls where the hijab/Niqab what they aregoing through.\n\nIslam does not give privilege to women like you say... really look at what is going on outside of your comfort zone in Canada ans the west where you speak so freely.

In Saudi Arabia 4 people a week are beheaded women are only 1/4 a person as a male, and on and on I am coming to the conclusion that Islam and freedom and democracy are mutually exclusive.  Canada was a free country before all this gender blending neo-Marxist culture war and we need to get back on track.  And by the way when it comes to analyzing the macro socio-economic situation I am intellectually a Marxist but I'm all about freedom and democracy being the first and most important first step.  These would be cultural relativists vanguard of the proletariat gender blending 3rd wavers need to go back to their offices and once again lose themselves in their navel gazing and pay heed to Plato's injunction in the Republic to leave the masses in the microcosm alone.

Islam is blessing for Germany and Europe. If Islam was there in Germany 6 million Jews life would have not lost their lives. Europe would not have under gone world war II. All the Europeans are making noise and talk ill about Islam must read history. Just for your information when Muslims conquered Jerusalem in 637 A.D , the ban on Jews worship imposed by Christians was removed . Jew occupied high position in Andalusia that is a part of Spain during Muslim rule. Let our brothers and sisters of Europe learn patience, tolerance and love and respect of women from Muslims.

There is NO problem with Muslims in Toronto. This whole story is blown way out of proportion. You know Harper would say nothing about how women dress if he went to Saudi Arabia.

Those women are lying, They cannot tell the truth because the will be shunned by their families. I know a lot of muslims and they all say the same thing, The Hijab is worn because they believe that the Quran teaches women are not equal and that they must wear the head covering so they do not Tempt men.\n\n It's basically a way of men having control over women. All religions are bad, but Islam goes above and beyond bad.\n\nDon't be fooled my fellow Canadians Most muslims want Sharia Law and would pass the law if they could without hesistation, knowing most of us would have to pay the jtsia tax or be executed.

This may seem a far out idea, but if young Muslim women all dressed like belly dancers then everybody would love Islam.

I wonder if that muslim girl knows that we can see her face clearly through that veil? And why impose something on yourself that prevents girls and women from leaving a burning building if they aren't wearing it, leading to their deaths? Why accept this imprisonment? And how can these women think this is them being held at a higher standard? What you mean is that if you are raped, it would be considered yout fault. Islam is the only truth, so yes believers deserve more of a say on the law. There are many prostitutes + women who dress immodestly in my area too, my family, I and all my friends dislike it. I believe the best system is sharia law, if you cared about speech then surely you should not complain that Im speaking my mind?\n\nSharia law as I say would cure Britain from it's filthy crime rates & other problems.
