You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent) \nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY \nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY \nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY \nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY \nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

Canada isn't going to make it much longer.

They have started loosening zoning laws in many cities across Canada two years ago. I have noticed discounts to new homes in my area and some used homes started to go down in values. Even as a home owner, I still hope housing values go down. It will make it much easier to move into a nicer neighbourhood or into a larger home if life requires it.

Canadian here. Didn't know about the American copay for doctor visits !!! For a comparison I had something wrong last year and had to go daily to doctor appointments for over a month. I spent money on gas, 1 parking ticket (messed up one day with free on street parking), and a huge box of Tim Hortons doughnuts for the clinic staff as a thank you gift when it was all over ❤ the copay sounds horrific and explained so much. So much misinformation in this video. First off, Trump didn't force Canada to do anything. Canada had the $1B security plan already in place and was going to do this long before Trump came to power. Secondly, more people come in to Canada illegally from the US than the other way around. Entry into North American countries most be much more restrictive. It is actually very easy to keep the border closed in the north. Outside of roads, crossing the northern border is not going to be fun. You have the St Lawrence, the Great Lakes, Forests that are no fun to try and cross, the badlands then mountains. And all of that is in the summer, the winter it would be near suicide as is being shown. Spring and Fall you get rain so it becomes much harder to cross.

Please stay away from Canada I moved here and I regret it every day. I'm a citizen through my parents and getting my certificate took YEARS which stopped me from being able to go to school or work which means years of my adult life wasted that could have been put to much better use for something that wasn't even my fault. I also lost good opportunities too because of it!!!! Not happy especially since I genuinely needed the money. I won't forgive Canada for that. Also everything here is really expensive and the selection is just not very good. Also work opportunities are not as good as in the US. Anyways I finally got my certificate and got my life started up again just over 2 years ago, but I still often think of returning to the US after just being here for 4.5 years. I now warn some of my US friends not to go to Canada just for the hype if they mention it. I also know of a friend who moved here and left after 1 year, they came to hate it here.

tyler i don't think u realize how bad the usa education system really is. i'm canadian but have lost count of the number of usa teachers who have complained about how bad they are held back from teaching kids properly, how kids can't be failed or held back, how kids graduating gr 12 can't read or write past gr 6 level. in fact recently there was a statistic put out that something like 60% of ALL americans cant read or write past gr 6. considering all your universities that is terrifying. not to mention with gun violence, straight up violence among kids and at teachers, the disrespect and the severe lack of good parenting, kids are not being educated at all. u yourself have done videos on where someone interviews americans and asked them questions about canada and they haven't got a clue. not one clue. yet canadian kids are regularly taught all about their american neighbours. are kids know more about america then american kids do and thats shameful. u need to do some research on this because unless u live in a rich gated elite community and go to private school the public education system in the usa is very dismal and woefully inadequate. \nalso he's right about politics. here we can discuss it rationally and then move on to other topics. in the states ppl are shooting ppl over differences in politics. beating ppl up trashing their cars and property etc. and many police are definitely not presenting themselves with professionalism tons of racism going on. and so many police because everyone is armed. here in canada we are not allowed handguns and pretty much ppl only have hunting rifles. it takes a lot of work and clearance not to mention time and money to take the necessary classes and get the necessary permits to even own a hunting rifle. in the usa show a drivers license and wait 10 days u have a handgun no matter how mental u are. therefore u need way more police than here in canada. i think u have a well to do upbringing so u have not and do not see the true picture of the america u live in. \nalso i have talked to many american friends who had insurance and still cost them about $5000 per birth of a child. with good insurance and working full time. so thats about average. here in canada u pay nothing except maybe parking for hubby while he visits.

These students can't complain about the student fee, Housing , food and living cost .\n\nU can blame trudue for lowering the standards for student visa. \n\nTo my knowledge from friends i know as students durring high-school vs students coming to study at college. \n\nPrior to this issue these a few mandatory requirements \n\n- parents most make over 200 k usd , and assets .\n\n- you must have xxx amount in usd dollars equivalent in your bank account and open a HSBC bank account with xxx amount \n\n - u must show you can afford for your child to stay at a mandatory homestay , all the associated cost staying and studying in canada for min 3 years \n\nJust passing the first 3 requirements, most ppl get rejected. \n\n- most leave the home stay due to culture differences and end up renting a 1 bed room condo. \nThat alone back in harper days was 20 k a year.\n\nMind you these students i met are from Vietnam, a 3rd world country where a university graduate with 2 degree will make only $500 usd which is consider a very good job . Its equivalent to5 k / month . \n\nSo thier dollar isn't worth much , for their parents to have that much money to send a 15 year old to study hs in a foreign country is a luxury only a selected few can dream of\n\nAlso none of them worked and work permit wasn't allowed. Even they were allow why would u when ur parents give u their debit card ~ visa card with allowance of 2- 3k to spend .\n\nInwould say 25% of these rich students go home within a year as they get home sick.\n\nToday standards\n\n- not many come as high school students as it's alot harder and still up hold strict standards as their still a minor. \n\n- college is easier route\nOnly have to prove u can afford the 1st. Immigrants are young people usually. These are persons who do not go to doctor often, let alone do surgery. I really doubt they can be a burden for social net. In many countries immigrants pay much more taxes than whey receive back in government spending.
