I would venture to suggest that part of the problem is one of language barrier? He's been in the US for 15 years and he's been in Canada for 2, and even now, he doesn't speak or understand a word of English! If he desires to live in Quebec later, he will also need to speak French? He really won't go far in any English/French language country, if, after all that time, he hasn't mastered the most basic terms in anything but Spanish!

People who can't speak the national language shouldn't be moving to another country especially not illegally. I can't feel sorry for this guy. Show Canada that your a worthy addition and eventually you can legally immigrate here. Trying to sneak in and avoid being deported isn't the way to go and it will never help your family in the long run.

Why would everyone here assume he doesn't speak english?? I'm sure he is just far more comfortable with Spanish.... Maybe his english is imperfect? choppy? Who knows, maybe he doesn't speak english at all... but why would you immediately assume that?

A lot of people complain he doesn’t speak English. I’m sure he does speak English up to basic conversations, but for sure not as fluent as what he needs to explain his situation in this video. If all you do is labor work and never had a chance to go to a school or college, all you are exposed to is the everyday basic language necessary for survival. So stop judging based on a 8 min video!

Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I bet he'd learn the word food fast if he was starving. Also, those kids need to be in school. I hope he's not hiding them too cause they'll never learn English then.

While I understand the anxiety the Muslim woman in the video feels, her accent is as Canadian as it can be which tells me she probably was born in Canada or came here as an infant. She's obviously had enough time to assimilate. She either has or hasn't. Speaking as a white man I have to admit I don't quite understand the need for anyone to organize as a race in Canada. First generation clubs from whatever country, sure, but as a race? Is it the elephant in the room... American slavery?  I can't help but think that most perceived problems blacks have in Canada are due to American issues we see in movies and media.\nWe in Canada bend over backwards to offer opportunity to succeed.
