A train wreck is coming down the tracks. Tariffs will increase the cost of living in the US because the cost of paying it will come out our own pockets, not the foreign countries. The problem is simple. If its an issue of cost of living, while its true that it is very high, its very high across the industrialized world. That is because the causes influencing cost of living are not related to inside Canada but are being influenced by foreign actors which Canada has no control over. The Ukraine-Russia War for example is causing increases to food costs which are not easily overcome. The situation in the Middle East between Hamas and Israel threatens to spiral into a regional war and that threatens the oil supply and the present price for oil and gas. The Houthi have been making it hard to traverse the Red Sea which is forcing shipping to travel around Africa rather than directly through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea meaning those additional fuel costs get transferred over to the consumer. As for housing, while efforts to cool housing markets have been made, Canada's housing market is still relatively hot meaning the prices remain high in big cities. Its like a perfect storm. Increased costs on mortgages are an attempt to push down inflation but in the short term you are going to feel that as well. Also we are living in a transition period as the world sinks back to the older model of trade before before Bretton Woods in 1947 which is leading to a decoupling of product lines that at one time coming from Asia were cheap but are not more expensive because they are being made back in the home countries. Transitions do come with a price. Finally, add taxes which help to deal with health care, social programs and government services like embassies, foreign missions and the army well yeah its a perfect storm.\n\nI hope you have luck where you end up but do not for a minute assume that the grass is greener on the other side. Even Japan which attempts to keep certain costs low, has been forced to increase its national consumption taxes to offset overall costs. It isn't going to get cheaper but more expensive as we move back to the old trade model. However, as the world weans itself off of the World Trade Organization and the IMF, the world also re-opens the potential to a Great Depression because that was the reason Bretton Woods appeared in the first place. The world isn't going to get better but far worse.

The reason why it's increasingly more expensive to live now is mostly due to Covid. Worldwide, aproximately 1.7 TRILLION USD was given to corporations after Covid, and almost none of the money has returned to the governments, because well... they didn't plan for it to happen. The rich have gotten richer and the middle class have gotten poorer. When giving away so much money, there is bound to be inflation. The money was used to invest by the rich, buying mostly properties, which is why property prices are skyrocketing. There are so many apartments, particularly in Canada, where nobody lives, because there are so many rich investors buying properties. This phenomenon is not restricted to Canada, but most other large cities in western countries.\n\nYou might think the grass is greener in other parts of the world, but it literally isn't. I live in Norway, one of the richest countries in the world, and the situation is exactly the same here. Everything is getting more expensive, salaries stay stagnant and our currency is absolutely dogshit at the moment due to a failure of basic economics by our government and the central bank. Our oil fund, the wealthiest fund in the world, is actively making trades against our own national currency to make money, but they are making the currency itself worse, thereby reducing the value of it. The value of the oil fund evens out, but it lowers the purchasing capacity for everyone else. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. \n\nPeople would chop off a limb to get a passport in Canada. It is, as you said, a relatively safe place to come home to. There aren't too many countries like that in the world, and you are fortunate. I would advice you to reconsider moving abroad. Sure, Canada has many problems, but I can guarantee you, that living elsewhere in the world at this point is not going to ease your grievances unless you live a very frugal life.

I agree with the reality of cost of living crisis, because we face it everyday, however, even today in Canada, if you are ready to go back to school and learn highly technical and highly skilled trades specifically required for the oil and gas industry by companies based in Alberta and for aircraft or airplane maintenance,repair,servicing,overhaul,you would thrive.

I think you were surprized how much you enjoyed to exploration of Russia a few years ago but quality of life was very good then but even better now, but retaining the unmatched access to culture, very low cost of living much lower crime rate than Canada/US/Europe, and cost of living about 1/10th of Canada, great health and easy to get a residency and citizenship due to being from Ukraine originally. For your travels, it is a little more complicated due to US sanctions but from here in St Petersburg it is really easy to travel by bus to Estonia and fly anywhere in the world. Estonia is the cheapest cost of living in the Baltic. I have flown to California several times using that route and to London the flight is $50 euros. \nAlthough you explored a lot here there is so much more to see and experience.\nThere is no doubt the western countries that relied on cheap labor and resources from colonies are all in a downward spiral and the east is rising. All the BRICS countries have positive growth in quality life and economic growth and a total of 108 countries have either applied or expressed serious interest in joining the largest trade block in history while the US empire fades at an accellerating rate. As a Filipino watching the economy of USA from afar, I think that no other politician has shown significant concern to help its economy except for Trump. He's pretty bold and not scared to voice out issues that make the democrats uncomfortable. It is not for me to decide who others will vote. However, I see a leader in Trump and he's not afraid to fight back. It's only a matter of time for the Chinese to create its own microchips that are of novelty and prestige. Their economy is of course stagnant as of the moment because many foreign companies pulled out from China. Nevertheless, do you think it's going to be forever? They will cope and soon establish theirs given their population and government financial backing. Trump was right to put trade war against them to regulate foreign trade as it did with Japan. All countries will suffer when the dollar loses the international prestige. It is fastly losing it's international reputation as of these days. If this won't halt, imagine a future where the Chinese RMB will be the basis of international trade. You don't know the real plan of the Silk Road guys. Americans are conquerors and we have adjusted with their ways already. And, the Chinese are conquerors as well. Their goal is to really surpass the USA. The rise of China has benefited every ASEAN member, but greatly the former than the latter. We can adjust with their ways. However, America and Europe may not be that ready to adjust their ways for them should they surpass USA. The USA has become complacent and too liberal where individual rights, although important, have gone too far-fetched. This has created entitled individuals who think they own the world. Now, look at the Chinese. While most young Americans are busy dancing in TikTok and the likes of wasting time for entertainment, most young Chinese are studying hard and upskilling. Let's remember that America became great because of its inventions and extremely the nuclear power. Without great minds, minds that are feebled by drugs and misguided philosophies, a society will crumble. USA can use its weapons and influences against other countries, but can it hold the progress of it's rival economy for the rest of the years? You guys need a leader who is competitive and won't back down from a fight. As of these days, given only two political candidates to choose for presidency, I dare say that Trump has a higher bidding for the goodness of USA. Of course he wasn't able to accomplish his plan before after you guys impeached him. How the hell can a leader complete its plan after being halted unprecedentedly amid his administration? Kamala Harris looks promising but not convincing. Aura, although unquantifiable, do speak something. Choose your leader and it will choose your fate. I have some comments about some of the things in the video. Including Olivia Chow in the video when talking about housing affordability with local government policies I don't think is right to inlcude her as she only got elected last year and has to deal with all the decisions and issues from the past Toronto mayor. It's similar to blaming Biden for the economic issues of the US when a lot of the reasons for the downturn economy in the US during his first term was the impact of the economic policies that Trump put in place, it takes time. In terms of the carbon tax, I think its a valid criticism with the compounding issues canadians are facing, but also take into consideration that the provincial governments also have some play with this, as they have the ability to go for the standard carbon tax or implement a cap and trade. A lot of conservative governments like to complain about the federal government about this, but they are also to blame for some of the lack of affordability for political points. As well for the banking fees, we do have a smaller selection of banks, but there are some options that Canadians can have that do not include fees (Simplii, Tangerine). Everything else in the video I agree on, I also think personally that all political parties need a shake up in leadership.

The biggest impact on the declining economic productivity coincides with the Trump administrations trade war against Canada. They ripped up the previous trade agreement, and tabled a new one that attempted to devour Canadian industry. No one ever talks about this, and it's unfortunate. That coupled with the pandemic, resulted in a one-two punch to the Canadian economy. On top of that the amount of investment into automation in the energy sector over the past 10 years has reduced the demand for labour. And now with the ever expanding encroachment of AI on nearly every industry, the Canadian economy is facing an uphill battle. Many think that a prime minister is the main reason, when it's not. Canada is at the whim of US economic policy, which I fear is going to get even worse when Trump returns to office. A transition to Conservatives at the Federal level may lighten the load on a few things like Carbon Tax, and Income Tax (maybe), but they won't be the party to introduce limitations and regulations on investors that are responsible for driving up housing prices, by treating the housing market like it's a stock exchange. \nI will applaud Trudeau on winning over the EV battery plant, for pulling us out of bombing Syria and Iraq, for legalizing Marijuana, and for including Dental Care in health coverage (albeit limited...), but some of his decisions should have been better thought through, like the capital gains tax, and should only be targeting investors that have more than 3 properties. While he increased the budget for the Military, he's spent his first two terms ignoring it and that's severely hampered our readiness, and equipment. And while I do think we needed to boost immigration to stave off economic disaster, the current level that its at is problematic, and many bad faith actors are taking advantage of it and enriching themselves like the diploma mills.

People who apply to come to Canada as legal immigrants , have to go through a strict points system.that can take years . Plus medical and security checks. They have to speak English or French , be educated and most of all have a skill ,trade or profession that Canada needs!as Canada does not have enough highly skilled workers. Like IT professionals, doctors ,engineers, nurses etc. They have to have a job offer .etc etc .They have to have the means to support themselves and their family . Based on all of this, it sounds like you are arguing that capitalism has failed in Canada. Corporations have built huge monopolies and are gouging Canadians, and investors are buying up every home/condo they can, instead of letting average people buy them up. It also sounds like you're arguing that the government hasn't done enough to stop it. \n\nCanada certainly has its share of issues, but I don't agree with the tone of this, which is mostly Conservative Party talking points. If they were running things, they'd have let mergers go on and signed bad trade deals with countries, just like they did between 2006 and 2015. The Liberals have made a lot of mistakes, but they also weathered the largest financial and health crisis in the last hundred years. I'm not sure what the fix is, but arguing that the Conservatives would have done any better is specious.

New immigrants dont integrate in Canada or Canadian life. The priviledge of going to school is for study not PR. Its not a back door immigration program. You dont go to any other country and make demands or protest. Few if any go in the needed trades so time to go home. The numbers are unsustainable and its killing communities with housing and jobs as well as limited resources like healthcare and education. Governments and post secondary have failed Canadians who have had enough of paying the price and need borders closed. With housing crisis if Colleges and Universities cant house all those they bring over on campus and provide the housing then higher caps to meet who they can house. Failure to do so close them down. Most communities are in emergency state for homelessness so of course no sympathy or tolerance for protests. Schools are for study only not a back door.

I am from the immigration system, this country accepted me, humbled me and taught me if you work hard, you'll eventually get there. I slogged my back off to go through Study permit - work permit - PR - Citizenship. And seeing this saddens me to accept the fact that our system has broken. We have a major shortage of doctors, trade workers, etc. But we have none. I am hopeful the next govt. will act on it
