Same with most of the other non Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta cites and of Course greater Vancouver- the rest of Canada is Colombus Ohio- who the fuck cares

Move to Washington state and the economy is much better than British Columbia. In Washington state you save 50 percent of your earnings. The American dollar goes far and many many many jobs. There are no job in British Columbia and they are called slave labored jobs working at Walmart or as a Amazon delivery job. As a Canadian who has lived in almost all the provinces and territories, all my life, I can tell you that a lot has changed as I think the best time or era was in the 1970's and you may have come at the worst time as the worst appears to be now when everything has become too expensive. The other problem relates to Canada, its size, the distances to travel, the smaller tax base with a smaller population than that of United States or India. This is not intended to provide excuses but most people here do not even have a family doctor as many doctors find greener pastures in the United States where the dollar is 30 percent higher in value and salaries are not limited to government health care. It is hard to change when American influence dictates much of what transpires. Homelessness hasn't been a problem but the last five years has provided more hardship for many who find it hard to cope with how things have become.

As americans i think we should be able to tell these people to stay the hell out of our country since every other country is allowed to say it. Unless youre coming here legally just like any other country stay the hell out

I am Canadian with a lot of health problems, I can already tell you that if I were an American I would have been bankrupt several times over, not just for hospital visits but for the cost of all of my meds, some meds I can't live without and have been on since the age of 11 and I am 41.

A few years ago, I knew an American, living in NZ who would consistently pass himself off as a canadian(even before tRump) which should tell you about how Americans are viewed overseas. Heard on average it cost around $25000 just to have a child in the US. NO thank you going into debt just to have a kid. Here in Canada free no matter what. Also rather be free then availability. We as people are actually retarded. Any way to get off work and get tested for covid just so you can tell people you have covid like really people. Also not true about weather there are like 7 to 8 states that are way colder then us right now and over the winter then us here in Southern ontario. Maine, Montana, colorado, washington state usually are way colder during winter months and also get alot more snow. Its crazy how we have a sterotype here which yes is true but not for a majority of Canadians. More Americans live in Colder areas combined then Canadians in all of Canada. As a second generation Nigerian immigrant (parents were born in Nigeria and I was born in the US). I 100% agree w/ his perspective. I’ve spent consider amount of time in Nigeria w/ my side of the family that’s doing well and the other side that aren’t. Aboard should only be for people who have no opportunity back home as in they have tried everything and nothing worked for them. If you are doing well in Nigeria, try and give birth to your kids in the US so they can retrieve citizenship. There is no reason a successful person back home should sell their things and move aboard even for kids as you can send them aboard to receive an education and help them gain citizenship and from their they can file for you. The amount of systemic racism, odd jobs you will have to work (God forbid you don’t have a degree and you move aboard for non degree purposes that’s when aboard will show you pepper), cost of surviving is expense here especially now as inflation is high. It’s just not benefiting especially if you were better off in Nigeria. However, this shouldn’t stop you from coming just know that the road isn’t easy and some places are worse than others. I’ve never been to Canada but have been to the UK and by far would advice anyone from back home to avoid UK at all cost. Canadian s always complaining about USA but it is probably the number 1 place for us to visit. Border crossings are often jam packed. Millions of snowbirds spend months in the USA for the weather and all the other advantages. Canadians don’t always tell the truth. Canada has it share of problems too but never talk about it. Canadian here with many American friends.....\nWe have frequent conversations about the fear of school shootings and the parents being concerned for their kids safety. The fact that you and your friends don't discuss it may very well be cuz it's an uncomfortable subject. The ones I've spoken with sit with me on the phone year after year and cry about having to buy the inserts for the backpacks having to tell their kids no flashy shoes cuz it'll give your location away if you move, needing to teach them how to hide to survive. \nI'm in a very large city in Canada and we have the drills here too, it's terrifying for us just having that part, I can't imagine being a parent in the states worrying about my kids surviving school day by day. And the risk doesn't end there, it's the start of day 216 of 2023 and the USA has had 424 mass shootings events in those 216 days (well 215 days cuz day 216 has literally just started). And that's just the events that have 4 or more victims. \nAdd on the ongoing war on women's rights, wanting to legislate who ppl can love and marry. I’m a Canadian myself, and it’s very interesting to see your reaction to Canadian’s response to that question. I think what you said about being desensitizing is true, I think because the gun violence, the crazy politics, and the attacks on women’s and minority rights, these are things that have become so common in the US that American started to see these things as “normal”. And to a lot of Canadians, these are our core values. A lot of us are proud that we don’t have that (serious of) these issues here, so I am not surprised in any sense that majority if not all of those people in that subreddit said no.\n\nI used to travel to the US for a living, and I actually asked to change my job so I don’t have to do that anymore. I didn’t feel safe, I didn’t feel good when I travel there. You mentioned it’s depending on the cities, and you might be right, but I can tell you I have met A LOT of very crazy people during my years of travels, and they are all friend very different places: the east, the south, the west, big and small cities.

Any trip outside the United States will tell you about how few people would want to move to the US if they could live in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or Europe instead. Probably a whole lot of other places, too. The United States has too many of its citizens living in fear. That’s a culture whose very admirable democratic and social goals are subverted by worshipping aggression and religious extremism, the very things they say they were fighting against in the Middle East and Afghanistan. I know that many Americans feel that way about their country and their fellow citizens but feel powerless to change it and that the plutocracy (which is largely in day-to-day control) seems to block any progress towards a better way of living.
