We have a nickname for Canadians that spend the winter months down in the States. We call them Snowbirds. These are mostly people who are retired and just want to spend the coldest months in Canada to a place like Arizona or Florida where the winters are more like spring time for us north of the 49th parallel.

I've recently had experiences with the US healthcare system through my partner, who is American, and I was appalled. I would challenge that the health care is higher quality in the US than Canada. I saw a complete lack of care, unprofessionalism, incompetence, and a bureaucratic mess the likes of which I've never experienced here. Even the premiere hospital in the region couldn't compare to the level of care I have experienced in the larger city hospitals here. Of course, his care did cost several thousand dollars a day, for which they sent him a bill after sending the original bill to the wrong department to get paid (through his insurance). It was a mess, all during which he suffered, had them come up to 2 hours late with his narcotic pain meds, taking up to an hour to answer a call bell, and generally being the antithesis of care. I am very happy that when we first began our relationship, I made it clear that I would never move to the US, and he was okay with that.. In fact, he's very much looking forward to leaving the country of his birth, for whom he served in the military for 20 years, and moving to Canada.

I used to think we were very much the same and I wanted to live in the US for the weather. But as we go often I have found the atmosphere and attitude has changed greatly in the last few years. People we used to be friends with don’t speak to me anymore as I called them on their awful beliefs. I know it’s not everyone but those beliefs have become way more common. The US used to be more global but now has become way more worried about themselves. \nYou can not talk about politics in a way that’s just a calm exchange, the hate is palpable. I went to an event the morning after a mass shooting and was visibly upset, not one person there talked about it or really thought about it. I asked someone about their thoughts and said “I don’t know why we have so many shootings here in the US” \nEducation is my next thing. The people I talk to know nothing about Canada and that’s not such a surprise but I know more about the US than most Americans I’ve talked to.\nI agree with a comment previously 26:29 that the north east is better educated and less dangerous.\nI feel bad for you as this is harsh but even on the news when Americans talk about being the greatest country etc on earth it feels arrogant. Maybe some years ago but now….. not so much.\nI’m afraid for your Democracy and I think so many people are just not listening

Beant Singh indeed was responsible of killing thousands of innocent youth of Punjab. Not to point fingers, everyone need to do their own research and not rely on only Indian government provided sources such as newspaper and other media. Now these days media and YouTube channels get paid blindly by our government to defame Sikhs and call them terrorist even if they are fighting for their own rights. In the India airline bombing over 70% were Sikhs that were killed. Ripudaman Singh Malik was found not guilty, but he was shot dead in his car and suspect was not found, only one burnt car nearby. May be it was the same people who bombed Indian airline and killed Ripudaman Singh Malik to defame Sikhs. We all know how our Justice system works; Suspect get created by assumptions and then encounter. Sajjan Kumar is one of the master mind behind Sikh genocide, he was sentenced life imprisonment by Delhi high court in 2018, but he’s out of jail now-why? In 1978 Bholanath pandey and Devendra pandey hijacked airline to release Indra Gandhi from jail. Both of these guys were not arrested/encountered nor called terrorist instead they were given MLA seats; Is this our justices system?

@10:55. Canadian system shows a better way?\nYou have not tired our system.\nA friend in Montreal Quebec almost lost his thumb in a workplace accident. He was in pain and the nurses would not give him any pain medication in the emergency waiting area, wait for the doctor. He called me at work and I took pain killers to him in the emergency room. He was in the emergency room for 14 hours before he saw a doctor, had to sleep upright overnight.\nIf any American favor's our universal medical system as it is so called free (comes from taxes we pay) come try it and see if you like it. Sit and wait for your service.

I'm Canadian. I was born here, raised here, and have lived here all my life. However, my parents are American (they came during the Vietnam war), and I have full dual citizenship. I could cross the border into the U.S., get a job, start working and live there for the rest of my life if I ever chose to do so.\n\nHowever, I will never live in the U.S. Why? The cost of healthcare insurance and healthcare in general is definitely a part of that, but another huge factor is the socio-political atmosphere down there that is very unappealing to me. Everything from politics, the gun issue, much higher violence than we have in Canada, more racism issues, the media, and from what I have observed from decades of visits to the U.S.: there just seems to be a lot more people that are on edge and hostile than I am used to compared to Canada as well. For me, the general culture and mindset is just not something I want to live amongst.\n\nThere are some things I enjoy in the U.S., and there ARE wonderful people there too. I have several friends in the U.S. (born and raised), not to mention my entire extended family is American. But for me, the U.S. is a nice enough place to visit, but it's not somewhere I'd ever want to live.\n\nNo matter what kind of trip I take to the U.S., whenever I get back home to Canada it's always like a deep sigh of relief. I feel safer. I feel more relaxed. I feel at home. No matter how good my trip was, when I set foot back on Canadian soil again I always get a feeling of humble gratitude that I live here. For me, other than the warmer weather and some of the sights the U.S. has to offer, I'm much, much happier in Canada. I feel very fortunate to live here.\n\nAs a side note, I have never found our public healthcare system here in Canada to be lacking whatsoever. Any healthcare I, or anyone else I know that has received any, has always been prompt, of excellent quality, and reassuringly delivered in a professional manner.\n\nAs an example, in 1994, my father had a seizure and it was discovered that he had a benign brain tumour that had to be removed. Not even a week later, he was booked for his surgery and he had his procedure. He was operated on by one of the top two neurosurgeons in North America at the time, he spent three weeks in recovery at the hospital, and he had months of rehab afterward. About 2 weeks later, he had another seizure (the last one he ever had), he stayed in another hospital for an additional two weeks.\n\nHowever, all of what I just mentioned, and I mean ALL of it, was paid for by our public healthcare system. All he had to do was show his healthcare card and sign a release form for his surgery, and that was it. Nothing more. There were literally ZERO bills, no insurance companies, no paperwork, no phone calls, and ZERO hassle. Nothing.\n\nAnd no, our family was NOT rich or privileged either. Just an average middle class family. However, my dad's neurosurgeon told us his surgery and all the months of care he received afterward would have cost $180,000 (in 1994!), and our family would have been out on the street if it wasn't for our healthcare system. My dad also had a very minor heart attack in 2007 which didn't require surgery, and he didn't have to pay a dime or do anything else other than show his healthcare card for that either. Since those two events, my father has lived a healthy, normal life thanks to our public healthcare.\n\nIn Canada, EVERYONE receives that kind of care, regardless of if they are a billionaire or they are homeless. Because that's the moral and ethical thing to do, and is just one of the many reasons why I plan on staying here.

Recently had a mammogram at the hospital and received a call back the next day for another one and ultrasound. At the second visit they asked me to wait and informed me that I had to get a biopsy. Upon getting that done 2 weeks later they told me I would find out my results in less than a week. 4 days later my doctor called me to deliver to great news. The nurses and doctor at the breast clinic at North York General were amazing. We are so blessed here and I am so thankful. The cost of this was parking…. What a joke! My father immigrated here in 1950 and am so glad. Would never live anywhere else but if I had to, I certainly would never live in the US.

I lived in the US for 4 years. I was 12 when I moved with my parents. I had a teacher who expelled me from school on my first day. I refused to do a pledge to their flag. The teacher went nuts. I said I was not pledging anything yo a flag of another country. The teacher then tried to tell me that I was lying and that Canada was a state, not a country, so I had been pledging my whole life. This was a teacher, and I did not know Canada was not part of the US. He called me a traitor and that I should be charged, then had me expelled. When I came back to Canada, I had to take an extra year of school because my grade 11 from the US was so far behind. The US school system was bizarre. The had clubs where people dressed like the military and marched around. They were taught to fire guns, and it was all part of school. They spend more time learning about their history and never learn about so much of it. It was like an oxymoron. The teacher did not know about the War of 1812, did not know that Washington was still trying to stay with in the British Crown even months before the end of their insurrection, and that Canada was a major contributor to the US moon race. It was a very confusing tome for me. Thing I had learned in elementary school, where just being taught in middle school, and other things were so far a head I did not follow like things about their Presidents. They could not spell, yet I got makered wrong for it and I found the teacher were either very nice or true demons, and they knew nothing but their own subject. I also felt like I was treated not as a student but as a criminal who had just not commented on a crime yet. Very strange.

I call bullshit on Quebec being the best !Take away the transfer payments from the West and they are screwed ! Not only that they are not bilingual so if you can’t speak French you are sol !

The USA(taxpayers) pay twice as much for healthcare as Canada does. And the USA comes in very low in comparison to other so called rich nations for life expectancy.
2023-10-13 0
Yes Canada is better for care but at my hospital you can wait 12 to 15 hour on the emergency waiting room. Montreal same, Québec same. Thats why you are call a patient, because you need it to wait.

Canada has high quality every thing as well. The only issue I have with our health care (in Ontario it is called O.H.I.P. - Ontario Health Insurance Plan) is that sometimes there are long waits for specialists and specialized tests. I have had a reason to be a burden on our heath care system recently. In December of last year I did some major damage to my arm (severed the vein, nerve and muscle that works the inside part of my left arm). I had an argument with my angle grinder while using a thin metal cut off blade. My angle grinder won the fight! I was in hospital for 19 days, had three surgeries, attended an out patient hand therapy clinic for 5 months, had a nurse come to my home to change my dressing twice a week for 5 months, then attended a nursing health care facility for four months, and about 5 follow up visits (so far!) with the plastic surgeon. I know what this cost me in Canada. $0.00. Any guesses what that would have cost with no medical plan in the U.S.? Me either but I know I would have that debt for a long time I'm sure!

I live in Toronto and I am not rich. I am regular person. \nIf you are an immigrant and especially if you are considered from visible minority group aka not white, DO NOT leave Toronto at all ! Work hard and make it work for you. I am sure the majority people from your coutires in Canada are located in Toronto and its close cities. If you chose to live outside this multicultural heaven called Toronto then expect to deal with deep racism. Yes people in Canada are rasicst althogh it is not openly like USA.\nIf you are into education and you want to do your degree, move to Montreal. Tuition fees in Montreal are way more cheaper than in Toronto or other parts of Canada. I lived in Montreal before and I went to university there. Montreal is great for education, aba rent are cheaper than Toronto but not for living there if you are visible immigrant. You will never feel you belong down there. Where as in Toronto, you will feel you belong to it within 30 mins max of you arruval. Toronto's motto are : you belong here and we have been waiting for you.\n62%of people in Toronto weren't born in Canada. You will find your community from your country in Toronto and the people are well established. I have been in different cities in Canada and I always felt stranger, even cities as close as ashawa.\nIn conclusion I would say to the visible minority immigrants stay in Toronto as much as you can for work and if you want to study in university go to Montreal. There are two major English universities in Montreal :Concordia university and McGill university, where McGill is one of top 10 university in the world.\n\nFor you Alina, I understand what you are saying and you can go somewhere in Canada and try it out with no racial or inclusiveness issues. Good luck and I hope you will come back to us again one day and I am sure you will. You belong here and we will be expecting you to come. No matter what enjoy your life wherever you are, darling.

Highly researched and thorough in Nitish Rajput video. You have great team in research.\n\nI am Hindu and was quite proud of Sikhs and with that interest I learned more about their presence in USA 25years back.\nWhen Sikhs and Hindus migrated to North America (Canada and USA particularly Orange country) and they were called Hindoos and they were successful in Agriculture. Some of them married to Mexicans as they looking for partners, and are videos / documentaries on this and I had watched them..\n\nMy personal opinion, Pak wants to take revenge for their loss of East Pak (Bangla) and nurtured few disgruntled Sikhs. \n\nWhen I went to USA and met acquaintance (who is Sikh and moved to use based on asylum) in 1996. When I enquired his visa status, he mentioned that he got some letter from local political person and used it towards asylum and like wise many are there in USA and Canada.

If your first act in this country is an illegal one, I don't have high hopes for you as a citizen. Stop calling it immigration. It's unlawful entry!\n\n“Illegal Entry”/8 U.S.C. § 1325 makes it a crime to unlawfully enter the United States. It applies to people who do not enter with proper inspection at a port of entry, such as those who enter between ports of entry, avoid examination or inspection, or who make false statements while entering or attempting to enter. A first offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine, up to six months in prison, or both.\n\n“Illegal Re-Entry”/8 U.S.C. § 1326 makes it a crime to unlawfully reenter, attempt to unlawfully reenter, or to be found in the United States after having been deported, ordered removed, or denied admission. This crime is punishable as a felony with a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Higher penalties apply if the person was previously removed after having been convicted of certain crimes: up to 10 years for a single felony conviction (other than an aggravated felony conviction) or three misdemeanor convictions involving drugs or crimes against a person, and up to 20 years for an aggravated felony conviction.\n\nCombined, violations of 8 U.S.C. §§ 1325 and 1326 became the most prosecuted federal offenses in recent years. Indeed, as of December 2018, they constituted 65 percent of all criminal prosecutions in federal court. Prosecutions for entry-related offenses subsequently declined when the government began expelling migrants back into Mexico rather than prosecuting them

So true brother you are spot on brother first I thought you will call us Sikhs as kmkhalistani

I live in Toronto. I simply cannot reasonably afford it. I've already witnessed close friends forced into homelessness, for about two years now without fixed address, and unable to secure a bed through the primary homeless shelter hotline, which you have to call repeatedly to even have a chance. My friends were homeless due to a lack of affordable rent options. Lack of rent control in Toronto has been insane for quite some time, it seems criminal really that price gouging is allowed like this.

It breaks my heart when our Hindu brothers call every Sikh as Khalistani. The Punjabi community has already faced a lot during 1947 partition and 1984 riots. We Indian Punjabi and innocent NRIs do not deserve hate. Thank you for this awareness video Nitish.????????

Being a Punjabi, i do not want to leave Punjab, the people are Loving, the area is surreal and everything is like... YE TOH APNA HAI! but you have to, cause there is no oppurtunity. I am hoping that i can go back to my hometown and just relax there if the job scene is improved. BTW i am a Hindu and i have NEVER faced discrimination, yes we joke and call each other NAMES, but we as Punjabis be it SIKH or a HINDU, we never even ask the last name of the other person. That is PUNJAB for you.

Sikh community got wiped out from Afghanistan but not a single Khalistani helped those poor Afghani Sikh. At the end it was Indian government who had to airlift Afghani sikhs from Afghanistan. KHALISTANI CALL THEMSELVES TO BE SIKH BUT THEY DO NOT HELP THE POOR AFGHAN SIKH POPULATION TO EVACUATE FROM AFGHANISTAN.\n90% Sikh hate Hindus but 90% Hindus have no animosity with Sikh and this reality.
2023-10-08 0
You failed to mention the state oppression that is ongoing since 1955s, 1984 wasn't the only time Indian govt attacked Darbar Sahib at Amritsar. Yes it's right that we don't want the massacre happened in 80s to return again. But it's all about the fundamental rights, our waters which are being ignored and our representation in this Nation is not at par based on our contribution. That's what is worrisome and this won't be covered by so called impartial Indian media.
2023-10-08 0
You started out telling the truth then showed your true colors… \nSeems you people have forgotten the history lessons is you go against Sikhs you will always lose. Call them Khalistani or extremists or separatists or terrorists or whatever it doesn’t matter… the Muslims tried it British tried it now Hindus can try it too… no matter who Sikhs will always come on top you HinduShaitan especially should know that by now.\n\nHindus like you are many but only a few telling what the truth is … \n\nKhalistan just means Khalsa Raj what is wrong with you people..

Such a badly researched video, expected better from nitish. Got so many facts wrong, \n1. LALA HAR DYAL was not a SINGH, his name was LALA HAR DYAL MATHUR\n2. Gadri babas including BABA SOHAN SINGH BHAKNA never fully trusted him cause he was never a man of his words. He wasted so many vital months of gadar movement just by giving them false promises to start printing soon.\n3. This england’s sikh car was never vandalised by any so calles khistani lol, this rumour has been busted as soon as it came.\n4. In 1985 bombing nitish forgot to mention CSIS officers remarks that to capture the real cuplrit we have take few vans down to the indian high commission and bring them to question.\n5. Calling 1984 sikh massacre/genocide a DANGE? Definition of danga is when 2 parties engage violently with each other. 1984 was a genocide as it a planned activity not only delhi but throughout the country.\n6. Most common mistake on the same level as godi media to start talking about sikh issues and khalistan from 1984. 1984 was the end result, it started way before in 1928 or even in 1909.

Great job n great research by the Nitish Rajput's team. This is 100% true, most of the people migrated to Canada in 80s-90s remember punjab negatively. Most of the news these people hear is through the indian media houses which very negative. They expect the same rights from indian government as they get from Canadian government. Most of the Khalistani supporting got active because of ruling party politics where a regular sikhs whose son, brother n father served in indian army and marines is called Khalistani without any reason. This has definitely created a divide in society, and media houses are also spreading the negativity towards a community. \n\nWahi baat h ki Modi is not india n humei ni pasand uski politics. Doesn't mean ki hum anti nationalist hogye or we hate modi. Bhai nahi pasand humei politics jo society mei divide kre. First thing a sikh child is taught is that everyone is equal. Ab tum fundamentals attack kroge toh humei ni pasand ayega.

Still Punjab has Issues , which where never addressed , no justice for 1984 riots , as a riparian state watee that is ours ,given to haryana and rajasthan , if Punjabi farmer start agitation all the media and most people called them Khalistanis , morons like Major Gaurav arya call Bishnoi a nationalist and justify murder of Sidhu , Cricketer Arshdeep dropped a catch in match against Pakistan whole social media called him khalistani , 2 kaudi kaa banda bi uthega aur sikho ko khalistani flana bolega , hamse nationalist ka certificate mangega , Amritpal ne kya kiya tha us par NSA lga deya , aur yaha par kyi hindu rashter mangte hai un par koi karwayi nahi hoti , why double standard , and stop making videos on sikhs , you are just putting Indian Govt. Facts on video

There is no difference between a sanatani and a Sikh, we all are one. I bow down to my fellow sikh brothers and sisters that the love they and their gurus have show down by sacrificing their lives for my Motherland which I called bharat. Sikhs and Hindus have lived together and will die together. Though we may have differences which is our mutual rights but we are one. ❤❤❤
2023-10-08 0
I don't understand why only Hindus have to suffer. Sikhs went to Canada, they called it Hindu invasion. Operation bluestar and anti Sikh riots happened during congress govt but the Khalistanis and radical sikhs r calling against the Hindu temples and Hindus. Congress govt don't and didn't do anything for anything for Hindus they do work for Christians and muslims very often. \nModi after coming in power started the trial of the congres leaders who did anti Sikh riots. Its hindus and modi who gave and trying to give those sikhs the justice. Why do then spread hatered towards Hinduism, hindus , RSS, BJP and Modi
2023-10-07 0
I request everyone stop calling khalistani to every sikh this creates tension among all of us and not good for our country…if they ask for any demand it doesn’t mean they are khalistan…stop becoming fools. Stop watching india media channels and social media pages.

Nitish bhai never disappoint.. this is called research about the topic... Unbiased....Sikhs community has done immense contribution to the growth of our country.... Politician wants to divide us but we don't....❤❤❤❤❤

Smdh pathetic indeed and the fact that y'all are still calling it migrants is just absolutely mind boggling how clueless these news stations really are though baies and very one sided plus some
2023-10-07 0
Simply put, Sikhs have been back-stabbed time and again. Those who call them names are the ones who own debt to the Sikh community for their valour, sacrifices and support to their forefathers and their children.
