I'm Canadian but It's hard to compare Canada to the US. The US has a population of approx 335 million people and Canada has just reached 40 mil. There's bound to be more crime etc in the US. I would choose Canada for that reason, plus the health care.

I spent five years in Houston before I returned to Canada. I cut my hand and although I had good medical coverage, it cost 8 grand out of pocket for basically 7 stitches. I had an MRI in Canada and it cost three dollars for parking at the hospital. The religiousity in the US is everywhere. They pretend to be all about gods love, but believe that gun ownership is somehow a good thing. They are unkind to the poor and don’t want to help non whites. They are trying to ensure a next generation of poor minimum wagers but not allowing abortions because their invisible friend doesn’t like it.During flooding, a gigantic church refused to let people in using insurance concerns as an excuse and people STILL attended the church instead of calling it out and changing venues. At this point, I won’t even visit the US. It’s a ghastly place.

I’m glad I’m Canadian ??? I enjoy visiting the States but with my health issues!!! I wouldn’t be here to talk about it, some months I see Dr’a more than 6 times/month!!! Not including surgeries, hospital stays and very expensive drugs!! Tyler, re health care: America spends twice per capita what Canada spends on health care. As best I know, it's because we have universal care under ONE administration provider, whereas in the USA there are THOUSANDS of plans, and administration eats up the majority of the health care dollars ? \nUS politicians have done a great job of convincing its citizens that universal health care is socialism, and that's BAD ?

It's just simple facts like our children doesn't need body armor in schools or having police instead of officers or health care if I break my toe it won't cost me 50k or being kind open the door for someone and finally education ! I had two children for free here in Canada. During my first pregnancy we moved from BC to Alberta to Ontario with no interruptions in health care coverage. I only moved once in the last six weeks of my second pregnancy. If we lived in the US we could neither afford nor try to negotiate all the logistics and headaches with the American system.

So when are you visiting Canada?

I lived in California for about 4 yrs. The only thing I really liked about it was the adventure. I was happy to get back to Canada! Would never move it back.

After retirement working for 25 years you may get old age benefits of retirement and pension about 950 cad dollars after age of 65 . Your medicine become free. Wait time in Emergency about 7 to 8 hours in Toronto and GTA. The 950 dollars are a help for bill payments. If you have mortgage you can not survive. Comparing Canada to USA , one can find job easily in USA.

In my opinion Toronto and Canada has changed for worst and is loosing its so precious identity. The last 15-20 years our leaders have been protecting the speculators, importing indiscriminate cheap labor (who can leave in Canada with $15/h?), down graded the education and social system.
