You can buy good healthcare in America. You go on a waiting list in Canada, and good luck finding a family doctor. Although, wait lists are prioritized by urgency, not first come first serve. ie. Triage first for all medical needs.

We always lie to ourselves and happy doing that. If Canada is not good.....why is he still there? We Africans are not used to paying bills and taxes.....also, when we go abroad, we want them to adapt to our ways and not we adapting to their ways. Always complaining and complaining. Yet, we still see people trooping out of Africa every year.

Everyone from India wants to move to Canada to make it like India - this mentality has to change. \n\nI don’t get why we cannot learn or adapt to new things and learn a thing or two. \n\nYes Canada teaches you responsibility and accountability. Passing a buck just because you don’t feel like it, don’t want to is frowned upon.\n\nEveryone in India loves to have a maid for every little task ans pay them so little the maid remains a maid while the one employing them feel good and Score brownie points. This is the hard truth we want to succeed, we want to give an illusion of success to someone but cannot be happy or appreciate it, why because we miss India or India wali feeling. It is also fair that you pointed out pros and cons.\n\nIf you are young, just starting your career - nothing like it. But if you already have 5-7 years of exp and want to earn 6 figures right out the gate. Tough luck. Ans expecting 30% raise for every job jump is unheard of.

I live in Toronto and I am not rich. I am regular person. \nIf you are an immigrant and especially if you are considered from visible minority group aka not white, DO NOT leave Toronto at all ! Work hard and make it work for you. I am sure the majority people from your coutires in Canada are located in Toronto and its close cities. Tuition fees in Montreal are way more cheaper than in Toronto or other parts of Canada. I lived in Montreal before and I went to university there. Montreal is great for education, aba rent are cheaper than Toronto but not for living there if you are visible immigrant. You will never feel you belong down there. Where as in Toronto, you will feel you belong to it within 30 mins max of you arruval. Toronto's motto are : you belong here and we have been waiting for you.\n62%of people in Toronto weren't born in Canada. You will find your community from your country in Toronto and the people are well established. I have been in different cities in Canada and I always felt stranger, even cities as close as ashawa.\nIn conclusion I would say to the visible minority immigrants stay in Toronto as much as you can for work and if you want to study in university go to Montreal. There are two major English universities in Montreal :Concordia university and McGill university, where McGill is one of top 10 university in the world.\n\nFor you Alina, I understand what you are saying and you can go somewhere in Canada and try it out with no racial or inclusiveness issues. My daughter has been living there for last 7yrs now. She moved to Ottawa when she was only 18yrs old . Started at Carleton University. She did well at univ and now working at a reputed establishment. She also got her permanent residenship of Canada. So if a 18yr old can make it there all alone than why not anyone. Every place has its positive and negative. Weather is contrast but we get used to that too. Nothing comes easy in life, if you want to succeed it's totally on you. The people there are very polite and well natured. Standard of living in very good.

I moved to Canada in 2006. We are happy here. Initial days are tough but you should have stayed 2 years and then decided. Life is very good and winters you get used to like how we get used to summers in India.

Have the 700 to 1000 students whose immigration application for permanent resident status been deported back to india.. They need to be deported back to Punjab. The community is over representrd in Canada and not in a good. Why is 18 ,% of crime in Canada associated to just one community. The appearance of Delta and Brampton will vastly improve if you see other folks there.. Indian government should shutdown the Canadian consulate in punjab. Isn't Punjab the most backward state in Present day india.. Green revolution is long over. Dont need hear annoying Punjabi music being played loudly from cars in Brampton and Delta.

Canada is not a good country to move now a days. No jobs and expenses are high. US is good but hard to get in unless you cross the border like the illegals then you get free everything ?.

Born and raised in Ontario, from immigrant parents. What I can say is Toronto was holding on before the pandemic and once it hit things fell apart. Parts of Toronto look like a Batman movie. What's wrong with Toronto? People who live in the city don't want to pay higher property tax like every other municipality surrounding it, so they can't pay for everything. Maintenance is neglected, very few rental buildings being built, a safe injection site at a tourist area (Younge-Dundas Sq) isn't really smart. Add the fact Canada was coasting on a good reputation internationally, so all types of people coming here seeking refugee status, which fine we are compassionate helpful people but at a certain point its too many people. Things aren't being run to benefit people and improve their lives, it more feels like we're patching things with duct tape and saying its fixed.

The huge prices don't affect the many millionaires and billionaires of Toronto,in all Canada and in the U.S.\nThey can buy anything they want,but then they don't help much the middle and poor classes that need to be helped. It is not a good idea to turn those social economic classes into the poorest ones in their regions and in their countries. Why can't there be higher taxes on the super rich so they can help those struggling? The canadian and american gov might help more but the super rich should help out too. Creating more poverty due to inflation is not progress and it is too harmful to societies. That is my honest opinion.?

Toronto is a beautiful city but if you don't make a lot of money you can either live in studio apartments and hardly buy food to eat or end up homeless. Toronto is much more expensive than most american cities, it might be as expensive as New York City or a bit more. Canada is a truly gorgeous country but it is too expensive. The US is getting so expensive even in Texas,you feel like moving to another country too,in my case my country Panama. Makes you think when will the inflation stop and be controlled in Canada and in the US. We don't want all poor and middle class people to have no money and be left with nothing and end up homeless. Right now it is not a good idea to move to the U.S. or to Canada, just to visit for some months but living in those countries is crippling people's lives.?

At least wherever I have lived, I can’t tell you how many times I forgot to lock my door with impunity. \n \nThere’s a lot more stressful work here in my opinion, but like you said Lynn, systems work a lot more efficiently and effectively. \n \nThe elephant in the room is the extra hard work that those living abroad must put in to fulfil expectations back home. My humble request to all those Indians who are unhappy in Canada, may please leave Canada immediately and return back to India. The fact is this that when you are kicked and rejected in India then you think of shifting to another country. Canada is one of the best country in the world for those who are not scared of working hard. One who works hard progresses fast. This respected lady is used to servants and domestic helps, that one cannot get here. I am here for just 7 years and I am a senior citizen but me & my wife got very good jobs and enjoying life. No one asks about your religion, what you eat what you drink. So all those who like lazy life please stay back in India. Yes if you want to get a good job you have to upgrade your education. Girls alone are safe even at 2am in buses.

After living in China and before that Europe, Canada is an apocalyptic dystopia. Want to leave hardly having arrived. After so much money, time and energy wasted to come here, quitting great jobs, selling our house and all the rest, here we go again planning to uproot our lives yet again. Takes time tho so tragically we must endure the disaster that is Canada and Toronto for some time longer before we can be free from this place for good.

While settlement in Canada is hard, packing up to go back soon after is even worse. While it’s a good country to come when you’re young, it’s hard for old people to adjust, especially the weather.\n\nI feel you got tired too early, just because you had to do all your work yourself. 100% correct assessment. I am here for last 25 years, came with family leaving a good job at early forty. It is tough for 1st generation of immigrant but good for the next generation. There is opportunity of growth and success if become a canadian professional and hard/smart work habit. My children are wel settled now. So, if you are well off in india and not ready for facing tough life initial years, then pl.dont venture ,as to have better life in canada you need canadian education and the cdn. experience. Not accurate history wise good but you don't know about canada

Obviously if he has a personal driver in Nigeria, then he is part of a very wealthy minority back home, thus his experience and life is much better back home. Canada has better equality in every way than Nigeria & in my own home country as well, if you want to be in a country that tries to give a decent quality of life for everyone equally and not just a high quality of life for a small minority, then he's right, stay in Nigeria. Canada will humble you if you don't have the competitiveness to earn a good life, it's a country designed to serve the masses, not just you personally. The doctor has many other patients to see, they don't have time to hang out with you buddy.

I can't talk from a point of experience in Canada but from a point of experience in Kenya. Yes things are tough everywhere but I believe things are tuffer here in Kenya, well unless you have a good job, good business or money to invest. I have done of research about Canada, Germany, UK and even Finland. What I have learnt is that opportunities are there as opposed to Kenya. Here in Kenya it's doesn't matter if you have a skill, or papers getting a job is not easy and even harder is getting a good paying job. Most people makes less 10 CAdollars per day which today 1000 or 30 per month minimum wage in Canada is i guess 14.5 in the less expensive provinces. If you work 14 hours per \nDay which I believe possible you have about uko na 20k in ksh, pay tax of maybe 30% combined you have about 130 cad per day work for 25 days in a month you will have about 3250 net stay in most affordable place(hujaenda raha) you can get 1250 in low cost province (not Ontario or BC though here minimum wage iko juu), groceries and expenses budget 1000 per month you can save about 100k ksh pm, save in Cad for few years stay like a student on the budget but work like a donkey. Come back home in few years lets say 5 with save coins probably CAD will trading at 150 coz the hit shilling is taking mind-blowing. You will have 6m to invest any interest or forex gain use them to cover your vacation here in Kenya yes land in Diani you will have missed such weather, enda masai Mara (you deserve it), go visit your parents and most importantly find an investment opportunity you can do real estate but find ideal location but only if you have enough capital ya kujenga and then find someone professional to manage the construction not sending money to your relatives wanapiga sherehe nazo unatumiwa picha za mjengo za nyumba za wenyewe. Mam you came back and telling about kids safety, now I will tell you that now they r teaching at school now a days what is LGBT and how to recognise about your self, may be you are boy and how to feel if you feel like a girl, and kids are free to feel like that. And also teaching how to use drugs, even they provide kits to use drugs free of cost at school, so if you want that kit so you can have that. I live in Montreal Canada and as a refugee from Rwanda I have no other options but to stay. \nFor those who are from peaceful countries in Africa and well educated who make at least equivalent of $2000 in Africa, please do not come here.\nFor example: it's not easy to buy a house if you're single, you need to be married to be able to afford a house. Let alone buying a house, renting isn't also easy, the cheapest now for families is $1000.\nLet's say you make $20 per hour, this salary will never get you anywhere unless you're married or have other sources of income. You need a second job and the more you earn the more you're taxed.\nEven those high skilled people can only live comfortably only as working couple because as a single high skilled person even if you make more than $100k a year for you to live a good life here isn't easy. Yes of course, it's still better than the most african countries, but for those doing well in Africa already don't come here, come when you're hardly earning a living in Africa. \nNB: People who make $100k in Canada are less than 11% of the whole population. That's 4257000 million out of 38.7 canadians. The rest are considered low income generating workers who hardly afford things.

I am from Punjab and I moved to Canada in 2020. I really appreciate that Nitin has tried putting forward all the major factors that are pushing today's youth to migrate to Foreign countries. Punjabis have not just migrated to Canada, Australia and England, there are so many people who have been going to Arab countries for their livelihood. The major push factors at this time I would say are unemployment, drugs and poor politics. Most of the people simply wants a good peaceful life for themselves being a part of India.

I am a South Sudanese Canadian who pretty much grew up in Kenya before travelling abroad. Life in Canada is not easy.. especially after Trudeau came to power.\nI make pretty good income in IT, but i pay like 30% in taxes...30% of my money is gone. I dont see it. I know others who pay more than me in taxes. The grocery is also high, as are the other bills. Rent is really high. In my city, an average house costs 800k. Even my cousins in the US are shocked at the prices of homes in Canada. My rent is much higher than the mortgages being paid by my cousins in the US. In places like Toronto or Vancouver, it is worse.\n\nI went back to Africa last time and saw so many opportunities, that i made my decision yo transition slowly back home. \n\nThe problem i find with most Africans is thinking of finding jobs in the government or private sector. If you are a Kenyan, or Ethiopian or South Sudanese, etc, think of creating jobs instead.\n\nThe opportunities for entrepreneurship in Africa are endless because alot of the problems in society have not yet been resolved. You dont have to have alot of capital to start farming for example. So many Africans have access to free ancestral lands that they can farm and make money from. But many want to spend time in the cities instead. A change of mindset is needed.

Canada is a good country to live in. If you come to Canada to work you need proper paper work. You can't come to Canada on a visitor visa and expect to work. What those agencies are doing is giving visitor visas. You will suffer out there before you get a work permit as a refugee. For sure being here you need a good paying job but if you get minimum wage then you have to work two jobs and work a lot to make ends but. Good thing is there is always a job out there for you if you are hard working or be ready to study for a better paying one. Be ready to pay taxes too. The more you make the more taxes you pay and if at tge end if the year you've made more but payed less taxes then you owe the government. But all in all its a good country to stay no regrets.

Thank goodness I chose the United States for my education. In 2010, I had two options -Texas A&M University and University of Waterloo. I thought of Waterloo at first (being top university in Canada vs 15th in US) as I was naive, but Texas A&M gave me teaching assistantship which meant 100 % tuition scholar and monthly stipend. Being from a lower middle class family in India, I took the option. \nEven 13 years down the line, that was the best decision of my life. I had chance to work with best researchers and professors in world, work in highly funded research labs, publish papers and patent and later get good job in my domain. \nI never aimed for green card and moved back to India. I applied for Canada and even received ITA but didn't go ahead. Things are not perfect but even today in India, most people are impressed by some niche work I did in US.

As an international student, I am currently in Canada, and the grass is not always greener. The narrative spread out there is contrary to the reality when you get here. Sadly, I worked at an agency back home and I regret all the lies I told people, I was coached to do. Don't make the mistake of coming to Canada without the right papers, most people are scammed by agencies through this, and you will have a hard time. Trust me, you don't want to be homeless during winter, it is brutal. Don't come to Canada, if you don't have lots of money, the cost of living here is insanely expensive. If you have a good life in Kenya and earn over 70K, that will guarantee a better life back home than here.

Used to take the bus with friends to Finch and then go to Kensington Market at like 14 never a problem, never an issue, always had a good time. I wouldnt go down to Toronto if you paid me now. It and by extension alot of Canada is no longer what i remember it being and we can all thank Justin Turdeau and Jagmeet Singh for that.
