Canada does not have a shortage of people for labour; Canada has a shortage of educated people who can perform. Our education systems are an abject failure that have produced a generation of citizens who are not prepared to work. Our students understand their LGBTQs but can barely comprehend ABC123s or what a T4 is, much less write them down. Our shortages are knowledge and skill, not population.

A friend is high placed at immigration told me dude in 23 we accepted 1m foreign workers 500k in on and 500k in qc. 1m students, 500k legal immigrant, 350 illegal immugrant, 600k refugees etc. The sum is a wee over 4m ppl. So brutal. I have a 15 year old looking for her first job and all her friends ate too. Guess what.....all those jobs we used to get as we entered the workforce are gone. Every single DQ A&W grocery store McDs etc jobs go to foreigners. So where will all the high school kids work? They are becoming despondent and depressed. It's really sad. Go to any Walmart and almost 70% of the staff are Indian foreign students and some of them dont even speak English.

The middle income high school kids use to enjoy part time jobs saving for school and then sustain themselves part time during their higher education. Now with the flood of international students, refugees and illegal immigrants they have decimated the part time employment opportunities. There’s nothing worse than pulling up at the drive-thru and the person on the other end doesn’t speak English. This is so common where I live. You don't pay taxes as a full-time student, of course you can live off minimum wage, try paying taxes. You will find you need two part-time jobs to survive.

The small town I live in now has every fast food drive through, and grocery store staffed almost entirely with Indian students. None which live in the town, but commute in every day. No dislike of immigrants, but the last two years has seen a seismic shift!

You have people who have close to minimum wage jobs who bought a house in the 90s or early 2000s and are winning the lottery with their home being worth 2 to 3 times what they paid for it. Along the years they took out equity and bought more places and are now millionaires. While this generation pays for student loans and comes out making about the same, adjusted for inflation, and can't buy a home. Everyone thinks their million dollar home that was 200k 20 yrs ago has the price justified. It's a pyramid scheme

An immigrant (aka landed immigrant) is someone who has permanent resident visa.\nAn international student (aka foreign student) is NOT an immigrant as he/she has a temporary student visa.\nAn international student might have a chance to become a landed immigrant once they graduate (but it is NOT a guarantee).\nA student visa does not automatically make you a landed immigrant.

People need to understand that the modern university is a neo-liberal sh1tshow run by useless overpaid administrators for the benefit of useless overpaid administrators. Many of these hapless students can't understand, speak, read or write English adequately, and the exploited sessionals who typically teach them are pressured to pass them anyway because the university needs to keep their bums on seats. Basically these jobs jobs jobs are agencies so a company or a warehouse they need workers in bulk so it will be difficult for them to hire every single applicant so what they do they reach out to these agencies and these agencies provide them workers in bulk instantly, so what students and immigrants do they register themselves here so whenever there is a vacancy, they can get a job or they can be hired that’s the point of these things ?

Students who come from certain countries (you know where) come to look for free food and free benefits from Canada. I work at a well known university and see them come for food bank the first day they landed. Even some came to complain that their grants got cut (of course, coz they never finish the thesis) and demanded for financial support as they need to pay for family expenses including car loan!!
