I was born and raised in Brampton (but of South Asian descent via the Caribbean) and it pains me to see how the city has changed over the past 20 years. I was raised to be a proud Canadian and to be grateful for the opportunities that this country has afforded my family and I. I am a Canadian first, and Guyanese/Indian second. The issue I have with the city is that you have enclaves of ethnically homogenous people who refuse to assimilate - I once went into a Tim Hortons at Peter Robertson and Dixie, and was laughed at by the cashiers because I could not speak Hindi/Punjabi (despite being brown). There is nothing wrong with immigration - it makes the country stronger. HOWEVER, that only happens if the immigrants work to collectively advance the interests of the country and accept the rules/societal norms of the country they now call home. Instead, they find ways to circumvent/exploit the system - they are less interested on making society better, and more interested in individual advancement. I live in Professors Lake, which historically was one of the more affluent areas of the city. Now, there are several houses on my street that have essentially become boarding houses, divided into units of four with 10+ people living inside. I fully understand why white Canadians are feeling displaced, and it pains me that anti-immigrant sentiment has soured the way people look at me (despite being born in Canada).

Funny no one talks about the 1 milllion Ukranians that Canada housed and spent over 1 billion to accommodate them in the last few years.. Meanwhile these int'l students are playing triple the fees.

Intense Concentration of any one ethnic group in on area typically ends up becoming a problem. The birth rate in Canada is insufficient, immigration will always drive the country’s growth but it needs to be diluted with multiple ethnic groups. Nearly a million Indians in one small area will make the area just like India. Conestoga college has done the same thing to Kitchener.

Thank you for this report on Brampton. For context, I am a 4th generation Canadian, my ancestors immigrated here a few years prior to confederation in 1867. I have worked in the tool and die industry for decades and many of my associates work for or manage tool and die businesses in Brampton. Everyone in Brampton knows what is changing there. When I try to explain to my friends that what is happening in Brampton is not balanced, they do not understand, they think I am a racist. I told them that my Indian friends in Brampton feel the same way I do. They look at me like a deer in the headlights. Nothing has turned me against a politician so vehemently as Justin Trudeau's management of immigration. The man had no idea how to effectively manage immigration in a way which would integrate people into a culture and society such as Canada. That certainly is not creating a microcosm of one nation in a city.

I have been working desperately to leave Canada. I would rather live in a 2nd or 3rd world that doesn't allow their country to be over run by globalist liberal schills. The video also doesn't really do a good job of concluding. Props to the religious orgs who hand out food and have food banks. Good to care for others and look to take care of others who are poor in the area. That's good religious orgs. A community that cares. Obviously more immigrants from the area is a good thing for relations between India - Canada and other SEA countries. Also, Brampton has been able to generate lots of revenue and wealth. Lots of successful business. Good for Canadian culture as well given we are a multicultural country. Personally, I didn't learn much about India going through school but I am sure there are lots of interesting connections between India and Canada. 😄

I totally agree with descendants of Canada. Immigration should be limited to a certain percentage and shouldn't be encouraged more than the set percentage. Because the developed countries citizens won't get the opportunity in developing countries as they would be limited to their own country or limited to other developed countries. Developed countries numbers are in fewer. Contrary to this Us and western countries should stop conflicts in other countries which would allow other countries to develop.

My only problem with immigrants is that when you are in another country, you should conform to that country not try to make it a replica of your former country. Many don't even want to learn the language. Thank you for showcasing this city. Brampton has long been the armpit of Peel Region, and the cause of many of the rest of our issues. The new entitled migrants that come here spill out into other areas of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) spreading the crime and loitering, and essentially "taking over" certain places and causing massive issues. Our Car insurance rates in Peel are insanely high, primarily because of Brampton also being a part of Peel, and the high accident and theft rates coming out of that city. We have a massive issue here in Canada with unchecked mass immigration, and we don't see do be doing anything about removing the people who have overstayed their welcome, aswell as an issue with letting the new population move only to the same already developed places, overpopulating those areas that never had the infrastructure to support those numbers of people. Especially the households that are housing more families than just their own, the people who arent citizens that are clogging up our healthcare systems, all the jobs taken up by the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the lack of openings in universities and colleges because of international students. Its unbelievable how much they take advantage of the system.
