You keep saying that the US health care system works fine for most people unless something big or unusual happens. That’s not a working system. A health care system should be something that people who need HEALTH CARE can benefit from. If only healthy people who don’t need to use it are okay with it, it’s broken. It’s the equivalent of offering cheap cars to people but only to those who don’t have a driver’s license but, as soon as you get your license, you have to pay top price.

There is zero reason to move from here in a Canada to the US. Most Canucks would and do go to Florida in the winter. There’s SO many islands in the Caribbean that would do the job for winter snowbirding. I enjoy going on and not worrying about getting ?. PLUS, as a woman, I enjoy my rights here in Canada. Our healthcare is not the best but it’s there when needed.

So I just want to say just the fact that you have to think about where you want to live for religious, race or safety reasons that is a problem. As a Canadian that travels/moves for work when I look for a town or a city to live it’s how hard is it to visit family/friends is there hiking/fishing/hunting how long do I have to drive to the kids school. I never look at the crime rates in a city, or the number of school shootings, can I get insurance at the new jobs if needed…. And it’s really sad that most of you do.

I'm sure there are places in the USA where I could be happy. You need to consider though that as an foreign worker, the opportunities are in the large centers. You'd have to tough it out in a big city for a while until you could get established, then you could move somewhere more desirable. I had an opportunity a long time ago to work in silicon valley. The pay raise was unthinkable and I was certainly tempted. Then I did the math, it is an extremely expensive place to live, or at least it was at the time. When it was all said and done I would have about the same quality of life (however in a desert, no snow, yay!). I would be thousands of miles from my family and have pretty serious job insecurity. Without citizenship, it could get bad real fast. So it just wouldn't be worth it. Now I'm older and there just no way... Not happening.

US healthcare helps you if you don't need lots of healthcare help... Most people with very serious conditions can't easily work or get work as most don't want to hire people with health issues. This leaves those in dire need of health insurance without many options for health insurance that covers them. Then there's the insurance companies that will not cover you if you have any preexisting conditions.\n\nHealthy people generally have no issues with US healthcare, People who need it.. well.. usually die.

Employers dont hire people without experience because of Justin Trudeau and his dam skilled immigration crap. Now there is too much skilled people looking for the same jobs. I went to a local job fair in a small building and it was overloaded with immigrants. There was only 7 employers hiring and in a room about the size of a classroom for 30 students. Yet there was 500 immigrants. You couldn't walk without pushing people. Even the hallways and the outside parking lot was crowded.... This is ridiculously way too much! We not to put a stop to the immigration and start making people go back to wherever they came from! And Justin Trudeau needs to be put in jail! I am a bilangual white french Canadian with perfect fluent french and english. I was born here in Ottawa and even i am struggling when trying to find a job and Justin Trudeau keeps trying to get more people in. That guy is seriously mentally unfit to be prime minister. He only got in because of his father's connections!

I think you need to look at several things before you say most Americans are OK when it comes to health care. First, what proportion of Americans are NOT getting health insurance through their employer? (Hint: it's more than half.) Second how many people feel they must stay in a job they hate just to retain their health insurance? Third, how many Americans go bankrupt every year due to health care costs? (Hint: it's in the hundreds of thousands. This doesn't happen in Canada.)

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

The french hospitals in Canada such as Hôpital Montfort here in Ottawa Ontario treats people based on severity. Not first come first served. When i had my surgery i was taken in right away because i had a serious guts infection that would've killed me without the surgery. But when my mom stepped on a nail and had a surgery to get it removed, it took 2 months because its simply not as severe as my case was. Sure its painful, but a nail in the foot wont kill you. Plus it wasn't infected. Montfort also has a wait time of like 24 hours or so but thats just the maximum wait time, usually wont be that long. In my experience you divide the wait time by 3 or 4 and thats how long it'll take. if you need to wauit months that because what you have is not setious and they scheduled a meeting for you at a specific date.

I think the best reasons for people to want to live in Canada is for the safety. Laws of no violence and no weapons in public. Our rapid response of Police, Fire and medical (there are bills for the Ambulance and Fire response so we do get billed at times, which also can be brought to our judicial system and potentially the bill can be dropped). \nAll across the world people need safety for their families and Canada takes refugees in large quantities. Refugee families are given a sponsored house, vehicle, paid for bills (including medical and educational) and a paid food allowance to live in until they stabilize themselves with full time work and when they are ready they can make room for other refugee families in need. \nWe have a huge area of land that is underdeveloped and there are plenty of opportunities for work in the infrastructure field. \nCanada is known across the world to host friendliness amongst its free citizens. \nAlso we aid any country in need and are the first country to respond to any natural disaster world wide. \nWe have our flaws but we feel safe and cared for with those flaws.

My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

There are only two conceivable reasons for a Canadian to move to the US. \n1. is the weather. I don't think I need to explain why some of us get tired of winter for six months out of the year.\n2. is the money. If you're young, single, white, educated male, you can get some good jobs down there, but you're going to want to hold on to your Canadian citizenship for when you get sick.

Maybe Canadians are more concerned about gun violence than Tyler feels they need to be, BUT HERE IS WHY! \n\nAccording to USA today and Forbes magazine there have been more than 300 mass shootings so far this year and 200 people were shot on the 4th of July alone. These articles are dated July, 2023. A mass shooting was defined as 4 or more people killed or injured. There is a bbc article from May 2023 that states 48,830 people died of gun violence in 2021 in the US; that’s the population of a small city in Canada. Half those deaths were suicides, which occur because the guns are available. All of these articles mention the shear number of guns in the US, more guns than people, 120 guns per 100 people. So yes, I think Tyler is exhibiting his American bias and has become desensitized. His statements that it’s only in some places and to choose carefully where you live because violence isn’t every where are not borne out by the stats. These shootings happen in all corners of the country and every time they do people are shocked that it could happen in their safe little town. Think back to Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde these were not violent communities yet their schools were targeted. \n\nThe gun culture is high on the list of reasons I wouldn’t move to the US but do is politics, women’s rights, anti 2SLGBTQ legislation, health care, environmental protection laws ( or lack there of), lack of social programs, etc. Canada certainly isn’t perfect but I’ll take it warts and all over a US option. Don’t get me wrong I love to visit the US but living there is a whole different ball of wax. Thanks but no.

No, never. I would NEVER move to the USA. The only kind of weapon a citizen should be able to buy are hunting rifles and hand guns. Both of wich you need special licenses to obtain and can take up to 2 months to get. When guns are the most common way children die, how can you kid yourself it's not a problem. Especially when no other first world country has this problem.

I lived in MA for 17 years. I liked it and have many friends from there. I would go back, but yes, the healthcare would stop me. Getting older, needing more medical intervention. Not having to worry about healthcare costs is easy. I also said that the US was one step away from being behind the iron curtain. There is not the same freedoms there as there is here in Canada. The media controls the nation. Too much news. Not so here.\n\nWhile in Florida recently, my friends granddaughter was in a mall hiding from an active shooter. She was calm, I was hysterical.

Seriously we have a hard time understanding the American view point when it comes to guns. No offence but with the number of school shootings per year in the US and the deep seeded need to be able to own a gun , it appears that your country values gun ownership over child safety . Which is just mind blowing. Don’t get me wrong we have school shooting too, And other types of violence in schools, nowhere near what is happening south of our border . But , from our perspective the numbers speak for themselves. Just look how many have happened so far in 2023. ✌️? * just Google “ School shootings 2023 by country” . I live 20 minutes from the US border, I'm single and doing the online dating thing. I Get lots of people who live in the states because I live so close to the border, but I immediately reject them. That's how much I don't want to even consider involving myself with the US.\n\nAlso, I think you need to do a little bit of research about your own company because your statement that the vast majority of people have health insurance through work is completely wrong. It's less than 50%. Canada's problems could be fixed without a major overhaul of society. \n1. Repeal the Carbon Tax. It's really a useless tax, when you are already forcing society to change through policy, you don't need to punish the people any more than that \n2. 10% reduction in federal tax rates \n3. Get a Canadian style Shark Tank with some federal money involved as a public/private partnership to boost Canadian entrepreneurship. \n4. 2 year moratorium on onerous enviornmental and permit restrictions that are blocking new housing construction. Provide incentives and rewards to developers of starter home communities \n5. Provide provinces with financial incentives to open private Urgent Care clinics in every province that will offer on demand urgent care to anyone who walks through the door without appointment \n6. Ban registered Liberals from ever holding public office for the rest of their lives

The local hospital I work at has to close due to lack of nurses. That means people who need urgent care need to drive 45 minutes plus to get the help they need. Wanna know why? Because people can afford the rent required to go to school on the first place! Does the Canadian government expect Nursing students to sleep in the streets at night and study in the day? Good luck making that plan work at -40° C outside.

First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. Because of the current president we are in a bad situation where he has made it hard for the citizens that where born here to make a living let alone any new immigrants.\nOur military needs to protect our borders as they do in other countries and any illegal immigrants needs to be deported back to their country and do it the right way it’s an act of terrorism to invade our country the economic strain that it puts on the US is enormous like a bleeding artery that you can’t get tied off. I have obtained the visit Visa and will be coming alone to Canada in couple of months. Need clarity on few issues. \nI will be bringing expenses money for 6 months, more funds will be arranged if required. My target provinces are Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick. I am confident that I will secure a LMIA approved job in HR and hence a legit Work permit. \nCan the work permit holder invite his spouse and children ? \nDoes the whole family have free education and health care? \nBut one must have alternate solution. If I don’t get a job in my occupation, I will be forced to work as a farmer or a laborer or any other low skilled occupation and get a work permit for that job. My technical question is once I have worked as a farmer/laborer for a year, I will have to apply for the PR under PNP. Will my 1 year work experience as a farmer/laborer have a negative impact, since my qualification is in business Management (HR) ?

The base of homelessness in Canada is because they don’t treat them at the time of need if depression is in its very earliest stage it’s treatable but when it gets in middle high and severe level than that’s untreatable why ? Because of the medical system in Canada ✌️ They only give you a painkiller tablets like Tylenol and etc after 1 month appointment running behind there hospitals and clinics than they asks patients to enjoy life and meaning of enjoyment in Canada is go to bars drink alcohols do cannabis strip bars tGirls do cannabis strip bars you are good citizen and you would be cured like this ✌️?

I don't understand where prospective migrants get their information if they somehow believe that racism and homelessness do not exist in Canada. Manage your expectations, do your own independant research, seek reliable and varied sources of information. Canada is far from perfect, true. But as a Canadian, I would never ever rely on any country to educate me on what I need to know before I decide to immigrate there. Being disappointed by the Canadian healthcare system or by the existence of racism in Canada is like being disappointed by the presence of slums all over Europe and garbage at Everest Base Camp. Educate yourself, and if its too god to be true, it probably is.

As a Canadian here are my views on the problems here:\n1.Government waste/spending\n2. Insane taxes, we literally pay taxes on our tax here. When you add it all up the lower tax brackets after their 15% gst pay about 45% of their income in taxes alone. Provinces like Nova Scotia are disgusting when it comes to the tax they pay. \n3. The Liberals have every major news source in Canada in their pocket and in order for you to get news that isn't influenced by them you have to specifically search for them by name, those include Rebel News, TFI Global, and True North. Almost everything else is incredibly biased, they selectively report the news and in many cases outright lie. This causes extreme political illiteracy in it's population.\n6. Housing rules, here in Canada there are some really stupid bylaws like the main floor of your primary dwelling must be 900sqft in some areas, plus building codes prevent cheap construction of homes. You could have a tiny home on piers and it wouldn't cost much but because of our laws and codes it's impossible. You need a proper foundation, footings, building permits, ad in order to get a permit you need to submit blueprints, etc. You can't just buy a prefab building set it on piers and live in it. That'd be too easy, that'd make housing affordable and the government wouldn't like that. \n7. Woke indoctrination centers, The public education system here is all about putting in regular kids and pumping out future Liberal voters. It's a mess.\n8. You can't defend yourself, In Canada you aren't allowed to carry a weapon for self defense. If a criminal breaks into your home you are supposed to do everything you can to escape rather than defend your property. Criminals have more protection under the law than the law abiding citizens. \n9. Low wages, because of immigration wages are low compared to the USA for most jobs in most locations\n10. Thigs cost more in Canada than the USA after taking into consideration currency conversion rates, even things manufactured in Canada\n11. The cold. Nobody likes the cold for the 4-6 months of the year that the higher populated areas of the country have it. The more densely populated areas also tend to be the warmest. \n12. Fascist leaders. So I want more clarity on this, tho I'm yet to be married, but we ( Future hubby and I) planned on getting legally hitched before we enter the pool, so I calculated the score based on his age and working experience. For the NOC, does it have to be in a particular field or general working experience. He was once a teacher ( about 4 years or more experience and now he as switched I to Telecommunications. He has 2 and half yrs of experience in the telecomms field, and also do I need to evaluate my cert( ond and hnd) or he can evaluate only his bsc when we both write IELTS to give more score. Canadians are far more critical of America than Americans are of Canada but that doesn’t mean We think Canada is better. I realy feel for these migrants theyve come so far fleeing obvious horrors and poverty but they need to go through the process man.
