I am from Punjab and I moved to Canada in 2020. I really appreciate that Nitin has tried putting forward all the major factors that are pushing today's youth to migrate to Foreign countries. Punjabis have not just migrated to Canada, Australia and England, there are so many people who have been going to Arab countries for their livelihood. The major push factors at this time I would say are unemployment, drugs and poor politics. Most of the people simply wants a good peaceful life for themselves being a part of India.

Thank goodness I chose the United States for my education. In 2010, I had two options -Texas A&M University and University of Waterloo. I thought of Waterloo at first (being top university in Canada vs 15th in US) as I was naive, but Texas A&M gave me teaching assistantship which meant 100 % tuition scholar and monthly stipend. Being from a lower middle class family in India, I took the option. \nEven 13 years down the line, that was the best decision of my life. I had chance to work with best researchers and professors in world, work in highly funded research labs, publish papers and patent and later get good job in my domain. \nI never aimed for green card and moved back to India. I applied for Canada and even received ITA but didn't go ahead. Things are not perfect but even today in India, most people are impressed by some niche work I did in US.

Reach here knowing you're coming for work or to be a student. Just got home from a nice evening walk downtown, Toronto is still a great city but it's definitely declined in the last 10-15 years. It used to be a relatively clean and safe-feeling city. Now there are weird smells everywhere, garbage beside luxury buildings. Scary people around on the street and on the TTC. Despite this there are still good people, cool things, not too far gone yet but we need action now.

Sister, most people run to Canada, no vocat skills, no money to pay the high rent,no Canadian work experience. You have to be prepared and have funds to keep you. Without a good vocational skill, things look dim.Use wisdom.

The Truth is the developed countries have lots of opportunities to offer only if you go with the right intention. The problem with we Africans we like short cuts in everything. It’s good to have a skill from your home country but still before you get a job in Canada, you will be asked for Canadian experience. Due to this, most foreigners end up doing general labour jobs(manual jobs)including those who were in high ranks such as MDs or managers. If that doesn’t bruise your ego, you will survive.

Hello Dear; My fellow Kenyans do research and read a lot about the Laws and policies of that country before you make a step or move; Outside here; No short cart I am in one country in Europe I did my application for self-employment/ work permit/residence permit\nThen I was told to wait for 7 months - to 1 year for my application to be terminated not in Kenyan but in this county I am currently; After waiting for 1 year, I received an email from the embassy that my application was approved to apply again for a VISA to come and collect my ID = Now am legally in Europe I can move anywhere without fear and also can do any business in Schengen Area, I can go to Kenya anytime I want and come back anytime I want, This country is very rich and productive, peaceful, Clean, life affordable government regulates everything, the population is 8.9+, and the services are top class and are among the top in Europe map, however, you shall never here them shouting. Is about being wise and doing due diligence.. as well as calculating and taking your time. Good things don't come when you rush.

Good advise to your audience Lynn- that people should do due diligence research before thinking of hopping on a plane to any foreign country let alone Canada. Good education and commensurate skill set is what Canada is after. And do not coming here with the hope that govt social programs will bridge the gap to your success. The cost of living is up everywhere- rent has gone commensurate with increase in mortgage rates due to inflation. Ata sisi kimeturamba!

Lyn kenya is good, very good. People leave Kenya coz they are no jobs. Infact if there were jobs here, believe me, Kenyans couldn't leave their country. If you can answer any 2 out of these 3 questions with a 'Yes' you should definitely not come to Canada.\n1. Can you open up a tap/faucet anywhere in your home country and drink water without any worries of filtering it or boiling it?\n2. Do you make enough money or already have enough money to be able to breathe fresh clean air 24/7?\n3. Do you feel safe if you, your spouse or your children have to travel alone in the city or on the highway in middle of the night using public or personal transport?\n\nI don't know about where you are, a good lot of people would answer these 3 questions with a YES in Canada.
