After getting a PhD degree from University of Alberta, I’m moving to USA. I have nothing to do in Canada. This country is running by some clowns.

Canada cannot be all things to all peoples. Immigrants have their own needs and priorities that they will seek other avenues/countries to satisfy. We should do what we can to get our own house in order. Once that is done, the decision to come to Canada will follow.

So misleading! Why not also point out the income of the immigrants that are leaving and those that stay. The ones that are leaving are the one that actually contribute to our economy/society who can afford to simply pack up and leave. The ones who stay are using Canadas social systems without contributing enough to compensate their usage of taxpayer resources. By stats Canadas own data they use no less than 4 social services to get by (which does not include healthcare or education resources).

I had exactly the same experiences in 2002 when I went(and came back) on PR to Canada. Getting into a proper paying job in your own profession is the most herculean task in itself. The necessity of a car due to extreme harsh weather most of the months and then initially affording only a basement with mostly indoor activities during non-summer months takes a huge toll on one’s mental well being. Most of the jobs are regulated in Canada so getting an equivalent clearance and compatibility for a job is no easy task at all otherwise you’ll end up doing only sundry manual help jobs around which too aren’t available easily. I found a lot of positivities and possibilities too in Canadian life but then be prepared to sacrifice a lot for many years and then maybe you realise you have a lot more to loose than gain! So as this blogger said Go to Canada first on say a tourist visa to friends or family, stay and spend some time and money too and then make a long term decision to come and stay forever or not. But in the meantime don’t quit your job or business back in India till you come to a final outcome?

Most of the homeless people are born in Canada while immigrants who came to Canada are generally more succesful. These immigrants have to get citizenship and have to work ten times more than the people who were born here. What's wrong here? These Canadians who are born here have all the opportunity given to them starting with being born in Canada but look at what's happening to them.

I don't get why so many indians think foreign countries can change their lives. You are an average student soo instead of hustling in India by doing fresher jobs, you go to Canada for expensive education from dubious colleges in hopes of getting a job ?\nI say that if you are talented you can make big in foreign countries but if you know you are an average Joe then you are just wasting money and time in Canada. It would be less torturous for you to just hustle in entry level sales job in India than going to Canada.

The problem with Canada is that they don’t accept foreign credentials. You often have to start from 0 before you can get back into your profession. There are many many hurdles and often individuals will just decide to do something completely different from what they studied. \n\nAlso, Canada is super expensive at this point. Real estate prices are absolutely crazy.

Dubai is no longer how it’s being described. Only goras get paid more, not desis holding western passports. The salaries are no longer high. It’s extremely advanced in infrastructure, but racism exists. The weather is extreme just like canada and we have gorgeous winters! Dubai is not for everyone, you need sharp hunger instinct to make it here.

If parents get old age monthly payments they can enjoy and won’t think about India. Winter time. India summer in Canada.

Yikes! Born and raised in Syracuse, NY and after college spent 16 years in Los Angeles until finally moving back to NY last year. Any comparison between Toronto and L.A. I simply won't stand for.....and I really mean that because you have less gun violence, seems like more cultures get along there, plus it looks cleaner. I'd consider moving to Buffalo just to be within an hour of Toronto to take weekend trips. After seeing how the rents up there are close to SF or NYC, def can't move there anymore. Canadian Universal Health Care does vary from province to province as to what is covered since health care is a provincial responsibility and it only covers residents of the province, so if you are coming to Canada or travelling to different provinces within Canada, check your insurance to find out if you would be covered and consider getting health insurance before travelling. Otherwise you might get an unexpected bill. \n Auto insurance only cover injuries from auto accidents.

I work in Qatar and here getting a job even if you are qualified is very hard...the reason because they prefer asians nationalitie even if you are more qualified than them...and because i heard that in canada they are a lot of asians over there... Since the conservative government of the 90's, Canada is a colony of the US. Any really successful Canadian company has been bought by a foreign corporation, likely, American. The few holdouts are hanging on for dear life. Head offices in the US, marketing, US, legal, US. IT US. Energy companies and mining are starting to get picked up by China. \n\nWages have stagnated because we are employees, not bosses.

You don't have to wait in the US for health care because a lot of people can't get any health care service becaused it is too expensive. If you are out of Canada for more then 6 months, you are no longer convered by the Canadian health system.

The wait times are too long in Canada. It can be several hours to the next day. My dad went to emergency when his stomach was hurting and he couldn't even get seen and he chose to go home and just rest. I had an at the time undiagnosed eye disease and had eye pain with my left eye closed up and wasn't able to get seen by anyone for quite awhile either. As I knew that over time my eye would eventually open up, I checked out of the E.R. and went home. That was during New Year's as well. It wasn't a great way to welcome 2016.

My husband is from China, Im from Hong Kong. We both came around 2000, at the time houses were cheap and affordable. We met and married after we became Canadian in 2004 and the same year we bought our first house 4 bedrooms 3000sqft near Fairview Mall. Our first daughter has now just graduated and we plan to fund her on her down payment because we know it's not affordable on her own. The price has gone up not double, not triple or quadruple, but 5 times what it used too and not even near centre of the city. Canada housing is now so bad my husband regrets giving up his Chinese citizenship at one point luckily Hong Kong allows multiple citizenship and we can still go back and settle when things get worse. Sucks for my kids who have never had much experience outside of Canada so they will need to learn and cope for better or for worse.

I lived in the US for 30 years. I hated every year, except for having my sons there. My American husband is a staunch NRA supporter. At the 30 year mark, when I gave him an ultimatum. I gave him 30 years down there, and the time had come where he needed to do 30 years in Canada. We've been in Canada for 6 years, and he doesn't ever want to go back.\nI feel for the new mothers, who only get 6 weeks maternity leave (8 weeks for C-Section).\nCanadian Mums get a full year. Nurturing your new baby is necessary for a well-balanced child. You can't bond in 6 weeks. \nYour health insurance is nuts. We paid $1500/mo. just for our family. Then you have a $5k deductible first! Just walking into the ER is $500 and THEN add on labs, x-rays, meds, etc. My son was in mental health treatment and our insurance capped mental health at $25k for life. \nThe biggest slap up my head, was when I found out I CAN'T collect my SSI. I paid a lot of taxes, since we made 6 figures/year. So, now I'm screwed, since they won't pay a former Permanent Resident. Had I been a citizen, I could get it. My husband is a PR in Canada, waiting to take his citizenship test. If he applies for SSI, he needs to go down to the States for 30 days and nights, annually. \nI'm from Toronto, born and raised and I am so happy to have my feet back in my own country. If healthcare was better I’d live in the USA. Taxes are cheaper way more history there bigger cities warmer climates but I’m not paying hundreds to thousands just to get some medical attention where in Canada it’s free.

As a person born in Canada in the 50s I have seen the change in Canada over the decade to now where this Liberal gov had torn the hell out of what once was a terrific place to work and live. Did it as a 5 year project and only made it for 15 months. Needed an expensive 100k procedure. Decision to move back to Canada was a no brainer, waited 3 months to get back on healthcare role and had a successful procedure and didn't have to mortgage the house or cash in RRSP's. Having said all of that many Americans work extremely hard and are driven to get ahead.

I married a Québécoise and moved from the USA to Québec 7 years ago. I learned French. If we had to rely on public health care, she would have died. We get timely excellent private medical care in Québec and the USA at reasonable cost. If you're lucky enough to live in a province/city with good treatment for whatever ails you, that's great. But if care is lacking for your situation in Canada, you have to travel and pay, or you will suffer and possibly die.

Came to Canada in 2008 (to Quebec). Got my family doctor (a team of doctors in the polyclinic) last year. Same for our kids, born here. Canada also doesn't acknowledge medical degrees or experience from other countries. They protect the salaries of the doctors by artificially limiting the number of doctors that can practice. Therefore doctors leave Canada... Electrical engineers also should avoid QC if they don't speak fluent French... Quebec is discriminating against the English speaking community and gets away with it. Anglophones in Quebec are also subject to higher unemployment...

The difference is it takes longer in Canada than in most States to become a police officer, and most act and present like professionals. Canada has been super lenient on international students getting an education and then getting a promised citizenship. It's this that drives not only demand but big inflows of population that Canada's housing and universities aren't ready for.
