Alberta is very good. Born in BC, lot's of great nature but is unaffordable and almost impossible to have a home remotely close to Vancouver but in Alberta you can buy a home right in one of it's cities for a decent price oil will always be needed at least for lubrication of vehicles and farm ware.

We used to build 220,000 houses a year, we are short 3.5 million homes right now, we are losing trades people by the tens of thousands a month this year due to retirements. We will be lucky to build even 200,000 homes in 2023. The rich of the world come here and buy up homes and just sit on them, large corporations have monopolies here and charge us out the butt for services and products. We are all working slaves here. 95 percent of the immigrants we bring in dont have experience building homes and the ones that can build homes stay in their countries because they get paid alright. Canada isnt a great place anymore, very very very unaffordable.

Now immigration is easier with no visa required for other countries. Long term care homes are also overwhelmed as people are bringing their non english speaking relatives and causing a burden on this social system, thus MAID has been no other option for many people. As an Indigenous person (Anishinaabe), it's been a real mixed bag. It's been great that we generally have more visibility in media, and the federal government has listened to more of our requests than in years past, and healthcare costs and education gets covered quite a bit. That being said, a lot of Indigenous folks are poor and will very likely stay that way. If middle-class people are facing financial struggle, then it's even worse for us.\n\nIMO, as things get tight, what'll begin happening is what happens on reserves -- families will cram themselves into houses. Adult children living with their parents, young couples living with parents, and single adults having 2+ roommates well into their 30s, 2 people per bedroom.\n\nPlease though, advocate for more housing to your local government. Don't be a f'kin NIMBY. We need homes, multi-unit and single, rentals and ones to own.

Several factors played a role in the housing crisis. Governments stopped building new affordable homes long time ago. Many rental apartments have been converted into condominiums. And the ones still in the market have seen ownership consolidation over the last decade. Many existing condominium/house renters have chosen short term Airbnb over long term renters. A not-so-insignificant percentage of home/condominium buyers choose not to rent or live in properties they buy. They hold them like commodities such as gold and silver. On top of all these, you have mass immigration over the last decade.

Well I will tell you that I am an immigrant with Canadian citizenship, I have been living in Canada for almost 12 years, and I have decided to leave Canada to live permanently in my home country Peru. The reasons why I will leave Canada are mainly the extremely high cost of life (the rent mainly) I have lived in Toronto for almost 7 years and until now I am renting rooms because it's the only space I can afford with my current salary. The other reason is the health care service, as the lady in the video mentioned, I have been in the waiting list for 2 years to see an specialist and until now nothing. I got used to the weather, the people, the snow, I have my own car but it's sucking me almost CAD$1000 per month among monthly payments, gasoline and insurance. While in Lima Peru the cost of life is almost a third part of what it's here. The food is cheap and the quality is high (everything is organic in Peru). I will keep my Canadian job and work remotely from Lima and I will live like a king¡¡¡¡¡, I miss the food, the beaches, the amazing social life and with my Canadian passport I will be able to travel anywhere in the world once a year ..... now that's what I call living the life .... I am so excited¡¡¡

I see a lot of people in the comments romanticizing the United States. We have about 250,000-300,000 homeless unvetted folks from all around the world sneaking through the U.S. southern border each month. Fact: a couple of hundred people on the terrorist watch list have been caught at the border (and reasonably for every one caught and apprehended, a few more haven't been caught and are setting up sleeper cells as we speak). All the while, we are facing a dire housing shortage, and an explosion of homelessness and lawlessness is hitting every major U.S. city. It's about to get very crowded and even more violent here. Come for the opportunities legally, but always watch your back and be prepared to defend yourself, your home, and your family. A peaceful, quiet cold life in Canada may not be that bad in comparison. It doesn't take long for a lawless country to fall from grace no matter how prosperous it seems. Look at what happened to Venezuela within a single decade.

This is sadly true, I came to Canada ??a 1,5 years ago leaving my con try where I had a nice job, good pay both me and my wife and were able to travel twice a year. Here in Canada more than 50% of my salary is eaten by rent, my wife is struggling to find a job and it’s impossible for us to save, worst than that sometimes we use our savings to close the months. Now everybody who is asking me for advice on how to come or preparing to come after getting their PR, I tell them stay where you’re at least you have a good situation in your home, you’re familiar with your country problems so there is no benefits coming here and living a shitty life.

Let me tell you , the majority may be Indians, but in fact they are not leaving permanently. Only citizens of India or permanent residents are leaving temporarily. They rent their home and live in India with that rent , there they get servants life is luxury if you got money. Second they are the reason for this hike in rent and housing- immigrants are the main reason for high rent and housing market especially greedy ones. Health care in Canada is not accessible even if it is free.

I can't stand this place and especially people! It's sooo dreadful, if I spoke truthfully the comment would get auto deleted. So since it turned out to be the polar opposite of the propaganda and how Canadians talk about themselves to the world (and the type of immigrants who fled poverty and had absolutely nothing back home and for whom Canada is actually an upgrade of sorts), I'll just use Canada as a stepping stone to get back to the US where I studied and got all my degrees and the place was infinitely better than Canada in almost every area. And there people are actually normal, like they'll talk to you, invite you to their home or to go out, make sure you aren't alone for Thanksgiving, etc. In Canada there's none of that, you're on your own! To me living in Canada is a nightmare!

It is the stupidity of the Liberal party and its leader the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that is being manifested. Anyone with sound education and some common sense would have thought that having the needed infrastructure for the immigrants in place before unilaterally sending them invitation on the social media. Makes no sense. Our population is declining. If there were enough home for boomers then it shouldn't be an insurmountable issue. Immigration is fine, it's letting companies buy up huge chunks of real estate that needs to stop. That and put higher taxes on unoccupied homes.

Ok US it’s time to stop sending help and resources to other countries if this is really happening and if it’s really important. Take care of home first.

Canada's current immigration policies are simply leading to the recolonization of Canada by large immigrant colonies who are economically opportunistic, and basically commute from their home country.

Cap legal migrants and deport the illigal immigrants and get canadians off the street and into homes.

How does bringing more people here help housing? More people means more homes needed driving up the cost. We dont need diversity! This is my home and Im sick of othrr cultures that are not compatible. Things like common courtesy is not common in other cultures. Dont need honor killings or cuvil wars brought here nor do we need war criminals. I dont want to wake up one day and find my home is taken over like the Turks took over Byzantium. I also do not want to deal with foreigners who expect us to change our ways to not offend them. A refugee should only be welcomed until its safe to go home, not stay here.

Simple solution. If a non-citizen has been unemployed for 6 months, send them home.

Finally some one is using common sense what every Canadian knows, build more homes and help Canadian students we have now.

Who would have thought bringing in more people than homes being built would eventually be a problem. Common sense is something politicians should inherently have before being voted in.

Immigration is great. Legal immigration. But even then you have to have the resources and if you don’t you will cause undo stress on all of society. Keep voting for Trudeau and Sing. They will for sure keep immigration up high. Those tent cities should all be moved to liberal and NDP properties. Their personal property so they can take care of the people this winter. They should be forced to take in immigrants at the homes to give them shelter food and conveniences at their expense instead of ours.

When I bought my house years ago, I took out a 20 year mortgage and at the end of that 20 years I owned my home, my kids will have to take out a 100 year mortgage and long after they are dead THEIR children will be paying for it. \nWe are taxed on EVERYTHING !
