As an international student from India at a top university with a scholarship, I found it quite odd when I go to the Tim Hortons near McgIll or literally any food shop in Toronto and found talking to the guy/girl taking the order in Hindi. I am like bruh wtf I went from India to mini India, wasnt studying abroad supposed to be a difficult prospect. The senseless immigration that happens through diploma farms, that only increase the population of unskilled immigrants needs to stop. Like Canadian healthcare is on the verge of collapse, cuz u dont have enough doctors yet you want 200,000 more TimHortons workers from Punjab. I do not understand this policy. \n\nI also question the impeccable brain power of the Indians who leave the comfort of their family and home (which imo has massively better healthcare system) to come here and then live a life of hardship due to not having proper education or just not having enough money.

I’m 70 and when I tried to get jobs as a kid and later as a university grad - it was the same story. Whether the job really requires experience or the employer is just using it to keep entry level wages down - that just goes with the territory and also feels universal. If it is you should just say what you mean and stop bandying ill defined terms around that let viewers arrive at conclusions you don’t intend. So already being pretty annoyed with your Masters degree opinion piece - I had to stop you and move on. look students pays for thier tuition without government support, then they will work double time to make it happen, then after they are educated enough then canada can benefit with educated individuals, those who cannot make it will be deported or end up thier student visa, its a win win for canada, but for now i heard that the labor market in canada is flooded with students, from restaurants to hotels; manufacturing, love the young educated cheap workers. canada will not stop this because they need the population to grow and they benefit this a lot. This comparable to H1B visa in USA but the difference is those visa holder is paid accordingly when they are hired in the USA. So the US end up getting the best people to come to thier country because only the cream of the crop or the best are the only ones that can get H1B visa. not talented enough or having police record no H1B is a fact

Additionally, if we deduct the number of people who are not in the work force such as : children, old people, pregnant woman.... canada definitely doesnt have enough workers. Not to memtion, intermational students are also one of the main income for the government. They are a strain on government services, housing, food banks and most come here without proper resources that is one of the requirements for entry. Even if they pay more it shouldn't take spaces that Canadian should be entitled to. They take jobs that belong to Canadians, housings that belong to Canadians. In london ontario close to 12 thousand international students take up the affordable housing for people of london. This causes so much distress on the low income people try to find a place .Then greed of developers and landlords causes the rents to go up so much that those on fixed incomes can't afford there rents and rent evictions happen as landlord look to cash in . Time to stop this madness. Local government in london has done little to stop this issue either.

People think its an easy thing as a full stop on students would do. Its not as easy because that inflow of cash should be replaced with somewhere in the economy, if not citizens will have to pay for it by increased taxes and goods of all products would still rise including housing. Then yes housing will be sufficient but even though demand reduces, prices wont be budging.
