I find it interesting that noone has mentioned Maternity leave or Paternity leave for new parents. I think paternity leave is about 6 weeks in Canada but zero in USA. Maternity leave in Canada can be as much as a year (probably unpaid or half pay) but in the USA, I have heard that its barely 3 months for moms and even then its not guaranteed.

I live in Toronto and I am not rich. I am regular person. \nIf you are an immigrant and especially if you are considered from visible minority group aka not white, DO NOT leave Toronto at all ! Work hard and make it work for you. I am sure the majority people from your coutires in Canada are located in Toronto and its close cities. If you chose to live outside this multicultural heaven called Toronto then expect to deal with deep racism. Yes people in Canada are rasicst althogh it is not openly like USA.\nIf you are into education and you want to do your degree, move to Montreal. Tuition fees in Montreal are way more cheaper than in Toronto or other parts of Canada. I lived in Montreal before and I went to university there. Montreal is great for education, aba rent are cheaper than Toronto but not for living there if you are visible immigrant. You will never feel you belong down there. Where as in Toronto, you will feel you belong to it within 30 mins max of you arruval. Toronto's motto are : you belong here and we have been waiting for you.\n62%of people in Toronto weren't born in Canada. You will find your community from your country in Toronto and the people are well established. I have been in different cities in Canada and I always felt stranger, even cities as close as ashawa.\nIn conclusion I would say to the visible minority immigrants stay in Toronto as much as you can for work and if you want to study in university go to Montreal. There are two major English universities in Montreal :Concordia university and McGill university, where McGill is one of top 10 university in the world.\n\nFor you Alina, I understand what you are saying and you can go somewhere in Canada and try it out with no racial or inclusiveness issues. I am afghani sikh from uk. \nI always believe in making punjab better than separate nation, as together we can become stronger make punjab proud again sikhs & Sikhism even our gurus have done so much for india we can't and shouldn't leave india at all we should fight for our pride and respect and punjab. Canada apologised for comagatamaru incident time to time but indian government never apologised for 1984 but they defamed sikhs as terrorists ,,,,,,,community which did so much got what nothing in return

…and migration is still on. A big number of non Sikhs are moving out too. Situation haven’t much changed from 18th century. Indian governments failed to provide opportunities and freedom.

I just wanted to mention one strong opinion and my own and many other NRI experience on Delhi ?? international Airport while doing immigration. Its my very own experience when an immigration officer threw away my Real brother's indian Passport just because there was something missing on immigration form. Me and my brother felt so much insulated. Then i decided to surrender the Indian Passport and get the Canadian passport just bcz they were treated well by officers. Im very much surprised to see the all of sudden patriotism of indians. Im sure so many people relate with this humiliation. ???

Ya it’s sad. I lived in downtown Toronto for 20 years and loved it! I left 3 years ago and moved to Mexico. I don’t agree w much of what is going on in Canada right now. My friends and family are all still in Canada so it was a difficult move but it’s no longer the Canada I know. Very sad for sure :(

Its really bad in Canada right now. I can't visit any Gurudwara because all have turned into Khalistani haven. If you speak in favor of Bharat, they target you and even beat you up. Health care is very bad. I had severe tooth pain but did not get any support . I was asked to come after 4 months. I came back to India for a holiday and I can't convince myself to go back. Khalistanis are making it hell and even threatening Hindus. Govt is supporting them so there is no hope for future. Except for some big Canadian Universities, most are scam and are targeting Indian students. They know Indians want to migrate there. I have seen students waste their money at these crappy Universities, after which they did not get any job and ended up coming back to India. Think and Research a million times before you decide to go to Canada. India is much better than Canada and most probably I will move back. I will have to go back once to pack up everything but I am leaning towards living in India. I might look for jobs in USA and UK but I am done for Canada. It is too much hype

It's much more than true, some of this country their lifestyle is too expensive, you just work for expenses very less is left for you.........

I feel informative and sincere views shared. Moving abroad is hard for most people who dont have much money to take with them or relatives to support them. If you are committed, hardworking, and patient, you are much more likely to be successful in Canada. If you think it will happen in 1 or 2 years you are mistaken. Education, health, law and order, justice, equality, and opportunities there is no comparison between Canada and India.

The huge prices don't affect the many millionaires and billionaires of Toronto,in all Canada and in the U.S.\nThey can buy anything they want,but then they don't help much the middle and poor classes that need to be helped. It is not a good idea to turn those social economic classes into the poorest ones in their regions and in their countries. Why can't there be higher taxes on the super rich so they can help those struggling? The canadian and american gov might help more but the super rich should help out too. Creating more poverty due to inflation is not progress and it is too harmful to societies. That is my honest opinion.?

Toronto is a beautiful city but if you don't make a lot of money you can either live in studio apartments and hardly buy food to eat or end up homeless. Toronto is much more expensive than most american cities, it might be as expensive as New York City or a bit more. Canada is a truly gorgeous country but it is too expensive. The US is getting so expensive even in Texas,you feel like moving to another country too,in my case my country Panama. Makes you think when will the inflation stop and be controlled in Canada and in the US. We don't want all poor and middle class people to have no money and be left with nothing and end up homeless. Right now it is not a good idea to move to the U.S. or to Canada, just to visit for some months but living in those countries is crippling people's lives.?

I remember as a young kid having a sense of belonging towards khalistan until my family members who actually saw the ugly sides 1984 taught me what was what only then was i able to actually understand why ppl hate on one another so much. You are absolutely right many sikhs at the agr btw 45-60 years old wanna scream and ask for khalistan whereas anyone above 75 would say otherwise.

Have you seen the ones (refugees) being bussed around New York and other US states? If you come in the right way (to any Western country, Canada or otherwise) your assimilation will be much smoother. Moving to a new country (or even city for that matter) is always riddled with challenges, not just financial, also social, technological etc. As an East African immigrant to Canada, I meet a lot of newer immigrants with over ambitious and dreamy expectations, most having entered the wrong way!

Obviously if he has a personal driver in Nigeria, then he is part of a very wealthy minority back home, thus his experience and life is much better back home. Canada has better equality in every way than Nigeria & in my own home country as well, if you want to be in a country that tries to give a decent quality of life for everyone equally and not just a high quality of life for a small minority, then he's right, stay in Nigeria. Canada will humble you if you don't have the competitiveness to earn a good life, it's a country designed to serve the masses, not just you personally. The doctor has many other patients to see, they don't have time to hang out with you buddy.

Grew up in a traditional sikh family in punjab with the generic beliefs about pakistan being the rival country and punjab's hate towards the incidents of 1984 &1947. Moved to canada when i was 12 years old. Now i hav friends from muslim community, hindi community, afganistan, nigeria, Chinese, japanese and some others as well. We r so close to each other and just enjoy each other's values. We eat what we want and be considerate towards each other's values. I wish something like that could exist in india too. Just geeting along but there is too much division. Unfortunately, seems like its only gonna get worse. Much love to every community in india as well as pakistan.
