I was born in South Africa but my father moved us to Quebec City (where he was born) to live in 1991. Now he feels that he's got nowhere to go. He knows Canada is finished, but where is there to go? He's too old to start anew.

Canada and a couple of US states have a similar problem, they rely on a steady influx of wealthy and high earning people to keep their economies going. I'm thinking Florida and California, specifically.

I have had relatives and acquaintances who moved to the USA. They had a visas to work in Maine in the sixties and seventies. They got drafted during the Vietnam era. One did not go back and they other did two years in the US army during the Vietnam war. They moved back to Canada, after he finished his 2 years, he moved back to Canada. The one who did not report for service to the army, moved to,Ontario, and the guy who served two years moved back for Canada, and his wife needs health care that they couldn't afford in the USA..

We honestly never recovered our quality of life from the 2008 bank collapse that occurred in the States. It is very likely that Canada's banking system will collapse just like the US did. And JT has thrown plenty on our economic fire since.

Correction if you have a PAL you can own restricted firearms i.e. handguns in Canada. I think gun control doesnt help canadians because most criminals obtain them illegally from the US. Meanwhile crime is going up in our major cities, especially car thefts and home invasions & we dont have laws to use self-defense to protect our homes, and the police wnats us to hand over our car keys to thiefs in contrasts to some US states where you can kill a tresspasser and not go to jail.

Willing to bet that in a few generations, most of the progeny of the recent arrivals to Canada be in the US.

I used to study in one of Canadian colleges back in 2018 and lately graduated in 2021s. My parents paid the college instead of me , fortunately around 300K CAD for a college tuition fee to grocery fees to monthly room rentals in Toronto. \n\n I am a Korean national and i see there is no benefit for me to move in to Canada as Canadian cities have extremely high housing rentals compared to major cities in the US. I do hope US govt bridges and gets the internatinoal student in Canada approval for a work visa and possibly let them move in to small cities in the US.

Ugh this is so sad. I was in my mid 20s when I left Canada for the US because the housing situation there was out of control. The park they showed at the 2:44 mark was where I used to live back in 2021 and I remember it was filled with kids playing and people walking their dogs. Now it's a tent encampment for the homeless. Very sad to see the living condition deteriorate there and hoping they can turn it around.

Canada's economy is a migit to the US, and the US are more accepting of the qualifications of immigrants. The people who run the country need training in logic

Canada actually has a place with affordable housing. It's called Montreal, which has significantly more medium density residential. Turns out if you follow US style residential development, you go broke. Do more Montreal and less Winnipeg.

It’s sad what the liberal government has done to Canada. All the cities are are now turning into liberal havens and it’s starting to resemble the democrat cities in the US. Crime ridden and homeless everywhere.

These people are already in the United States...why go to Canada? Their asylum cases in the US must have been rejected for lack of merit or some other reason is making them do this. They should have gone to Canada and avoided the US in the first place.

I live in Nova Scotia and most of our population is practically now Indian population it was never like that say 8 years ago,im fine with anyone from any country living here for sure but it must not be bad for them because they have moved here in droves,practically every business is filled with indians all working in them and including where i work,ill tell ya there dedicated workers and work hard and i get it they need the hours to get there Canadian citizenship?So is there a long time perk of being indian and moving to Canada,Nova Scotia perhaps that i dont know about?Because us Canadians that have lived here all there lives are definitely not getting any perks or barebones living for godsake.

In my 60 years here in Canada I have never seen things this chaotic or confused or angry or bigoted. I am guilty of some of this myself and I am ashamed. I feel frustrated at the lack of opportunity and success that we used to have here in Canada. I have placed the blame on others, instead of on a government that has no direction or sense of how to do anything except raise taxes continually only to waste it, embezzle it, or allow it to be stripped from the country and taken to other countries. Corporations and criminal enterprises complete the triumvirate of evil, and turn us all against one another. I think we need a change in government, a healthy corporate tax rate, many more small businesses( that are not franchises ), and a return to making what is needed and supplying it for a fair and cheap price. No more billionaire money hoarders or corporate fat cats. None of us have benefitted from this system they created.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. You can't just say we want to help and not give one thought about implications whatsoever. \n\nWhere I live you can't add thousands of people without thinking about making roards wider or more busses.\n\nWe don't look like idiots, we are. Canada has to be corrupt as the day is long OR our greatness was built on an history of lies. Great video man, Ive lived in Canada all my life and its really getting scary up here. The government has failed us and its the people who continue to vote Trudeau in office doing it to them. When a student arrives in Canada they are expected to have enough money to tide them over for the duration of their studies. Twenty hours a week of employment is permitted. Please consider everything before saying how hard life is when you've got to study, submit assignments on time and keep your grades up. Students in the US have been doing this from a very long time. Getting ill causing a month long stay in the ICU left me homeless as living paycheck to paycheck causes once the cheques stop , I was placed in a Toronto homeless shelter 3 years ago and I can tell you that African refugees enter a shelter and no more than 3 weeks later are housed usually 5 at a time all Getting a fully paid market value 1 bedroom apartment average price $2,600 monthly that with a monthly welfare cheque and free food dental medical prescriptions clothing WIN WIN WIN the Canadian born homeless shelter residents get put on a 38,000 name waiting list for Ontario's drug infested housing ghettos the Africans are being housed under a kept secret program called COHB secret from us Canadian homeless that is and I've witnessed this now at 5 different shelters I've been in, having befriended one of the African migrants who is a little unstable drinking alcohol and smoking pot so he hasn't been housed but he has shown me the paper work that has been housing his fellow illegal immigrants and I say illegal because they all came as visitors only to claim asylum as soon as they land he also told me they all borrow the money for their plane tickets from a gang who once they land and start instantly getting welfare have to send half the proceeds back to this gang in Africa for the next two years , in this shelter donated clothing comes in everyday and two African shelter residents fold and sort the clothing taking all the name brand clothes what they didn't hand out to the other Africans they walk to the post office and ship it back to Africa I'm not making this shit up after we complained to staff which also happen to be made up from the Africans themselves yes they've hired wolves to watch over the other wolves so they now aren't walking out the front door everyday with garbage bags full of clothes at least not in front of our eyes DON'T CALL ME RACIST I know that's the go to word when this insanity is made public , what do you think is the first thing these Africans do when they walk into their free apartment? Left Canada when I was 16 and never wish to return. About the media Canada's media and American media has been owned and corrupt by most of the same people. You really never got to know US, though they have their troubles. For example, the same as Canada, they return to voting for the most corrupt of politicians and those who wish to ruin North America. Were you better off 3.5 years ago or now is the most simple question that should be asked of everyone. Good thing you lived in Vancouver, because in many parts of Canada they are always argu and fight internally.

Canada Healthcare is so bad compared to America, in Canada it takes forever to get an appointment, to be referred to a specialist and then to be scheduled for an operation--But here in the US, I went to a clinic for upper right pains, I got a doctor's appt the very next day, a surgeon, and he took my gallbladder out in less than a week, incredible--This is in Florida

For some nations Canada turned into nightmare by spoof call attack. Many people died or killed. I have seen Ukraine refugees taking money from Canadian gov later leaving back once the money is finished. I have seen people coming to Canada with Gov 40-50K once that is finished they leave. I am an international student, just wanted to ask Canadian people, why target international students, i am from India, i can guarantee that any Indian student coming to Canada brings at least 100k investment that directly gets used by the Canadian economy. My problem is why target us rather you guys should look for people who are coming to this country like refuse and use candian tax payer money and get all the benefits Canada offers, but us on the other hand we pay taxes like normal citizen. This interview completely misses the point by interviewing the “wrong” immigrant. Immigrants to Canada leave for the U.S. because Canada prefers “high value” immigrants (e.g., physicians, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs with excellent track records, occupations that are expensive to train and/or individually contribute a lot to the GDP) that the U.S. would also like to attract. Not only can many of these people make more money in the U.S., but they often encounter more help and/or less restrictions with professional licenses (e.g., most states have an industrial exemption for engineers, and do a better job at helping foreign doctors and nurses get their licenses to practice medicine). How many times have we heard of a foreign professional reduced to driving a taxi or becoming a housewife when they move to Canada because an immigration official didn’t properly inform the immigrant of the hoops they would have to jump through, and the provincial professional association offered minimal, if any, assistance? \n\nThis PhD student (and others with more academic than lucrative educations) may think he’ll have it made moving to the US but I think he overestimates his value. The small liberal arts colleges that may have hired someone with his background are decreasing in number or changing to a more technical focus (usually to computer science because it doesn’t require expensive labs needed in medicine or engineering). American students are now more critically examining what degrees, if any at all, will lead to better paying careers, and I doubt Myanmar is on their radar as a money-making opportunity.
