The US imports more than it exports so even if other countries put the same tariff % the US would still make money no? ?\nPeople saying 'we will stop buying US products' my question is what US products were you buying anyway? ?

one of the stated reasons for Trumps tariffs is to get Canada and Mexico to stop illegal immigration and to stop drug trafficking into the US

First “They” say that US Tariffs will hurt the US Citizenry.\nSecond “They” seek to impose Tariffs ON the USA to hurt the US Citizenry (apparently NOT “hurting” Their Own Citizens?) \nThe USA has Specific Goals behind the tariffs (Border & Drug Control) do Mexico &/or Canada have Specific Goals as well?\n\nPersonally, I think if the US Citizenry backs down on outright Consumerism, We’ll find there’s a lot We Don’t (and Never) Needed.\nIf this version of “War” continues long enough, We will find that We can fulfill pretty much ALL of Our Own Needs … if not “Wants”.

We love the good people of Canada and can’t wait to welcome them as the 51st State.\n\nThe tariffs are meant to crack down on Chinese exports moving through Canada and Mexico as middle men to avoid their own tariffs. Had both Canada and Mexico regulated the terms of our agreements better on “product origin” then none of us would be in this position. Furthermore, China smuggles drugs through both Canada and Mexico using resins that are chemically embedded with synthetic drugs. So, neither Canada nor Mexico should be climbing on any high horses when their exports are killing our people.

The last time Mexico tried to ignore president Trump's tariff threats Mexican farmers stood up against its own government for not listening to president Trump, let's wait and see how the people feel about this. ?

EU must kick U.S. on tariffs

I am a Canadian in Alberta and the reality is that the Liberals have weakened the Canadian economy and our standing in the world. Their decision to cripple our oil and gas industry and our lack of ability export our products elsewhere in the world is an issue created by the policies of the Liberals. To impose a carbon tax and further weaker the average Canadian is terrible. There are some policies I don't like out of the U.S. but the reality is that it is never an idea to pick a fight with the toughest kid on the block knowing you will lose. Trump doesn't even want the tariffs he wants Canada to pull it's weight in defense spending and cooperation. Trudeau backstabbed Trump in the past and that won't be forgotten. We need a new government with a leader that understands more than being a drama teacher and snowboarder. Unfortunately, most of the significant issues Canada faces is the result of self inflicted wounds resulting from incompetent leadership. We didn't have anywhere close this level of issues with the Harper government. We are lucky to have the U.S. as a neighbor so let's do what is good for both nations but there is no way the woke Liberal's can do it.

They think their tariffs will do a thing? US is their largest trading partner not the other way around. It will harm them significantly more than it will harm us. Prices may go up a dollar here but an equivalent of 100 dollars there. Trudeau and the wicked witch of the south will back off and listen to their master soon enough just like Colombia.

Trump disrespects Canada ? by imposing these tariffs. Canadians need to stop buying American products.

Imposing tariffs means ordinary Americans pay more, reducing their disposable income. And then there comes the tax cut, which disproportionally benefits the rich. This is essentially socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. Trump knows how to make Billionaires even richer.

Theodore Roosevelt. President Theodore Roosevelt believed that America's economic growth was due to the protective tariffs, which helped her industrialize. He acknowledged this in his State of the Union address from 1902: The country has acquiesced in the wisdom of the protective-tariff principle. 13 colony's ,lol tariffs from 1786 to 1909 built the usa . usa got worst when we stop tariffs in 1913 then went to a income tax's
\nhow think we buy Alaska from the Russia , French... buy Alaska and The Louisiana Purchase was the 1803 acquisition of the Louisiana Territory from France by the United States with the income from tariff's. president Lincoln During the war, Lincoln implemented a 44% tariff to help pay for the war effort and to subsidize railroads.
\nThe tariff remained at this level after the war.

The American people have enough resources to be able to afford the impact of higher tariffs. Canadians and Mexicans cannot. The majority supports our president.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
it worked the first time he instituted these tariffs in 2016, I suspect it will work again, because Canada and Mexico have no real leverage. they can say they will fight back with their own tariffs but its a losing game for them because, they are a luxury for us. we dont need them. they need us far more than we need them. and thats why despite grumbling they caved in last time. they will do the same, you just have to let them get it out of their system like a toddler and try and save face for a bit.

insted of counter tariffs just up the price on anything usa puts a tariff on,.,.usa puts 25% on energy inported then up the price by 25% more ? Let usa pay the bill 50% extra.,.,. i mean if they can bump the cost on what Trump feels the normal american can aford THEN BUMP IT UP.

Canada and Mexico needs to coordinate tariffs to US products to increase their impact.

I’m just wondering if tariffs hurt the people from the country that implements them than why is Canada imposing tariffs back on the US!

Doesn’t china import the main fentanyl-making ingredient, but only receives 10% tariffs.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
I don't think the average viewer knows why the US is doing this. They're trying to combat illegal immigration and fentanyl as well as Mexican compliance with the drug cartels.\n\nThe reason tariffs are being used is because America is in a very powerful position when it comes to trade. The american economy doesn't rely on trade like Canada (67%), Mexico (73%) and China (37%). American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. In america its about 13% so a 25% increase would cost more but it wont have any significant impact.\n\nNo doubt this tarrif war will cause far more problems for canada mexico and china than america. By a LOT. \n\nI dont think america is being selfish either. China does nothing to protect america from sending precursor chemicals to america to manufacture fentanyl. Canada facilitates illegal immigration and fentanyl into america with no accountability. And mexico is illegal immigrants by the MILLIONS and is literally working with the drug cartels. If they sort out those issues the trade war ends. \n\nI think america has every right to go to war to protect its sovereignty and its people.

China is just going to fill the gap of the USA with these tariffs. Trump is trying to punish everyone yet everyone is just going to ignore America
|

That’s good, so the tariffs should be made permanent, so all GE production is brought in-country.
|

Raising tariffs is not the best way to retaliate... a full ban would hurt them instead of your citizens.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Why can't Canada put a double % on the US tariffs which makes from the US imported goods like cars so expensive that nobody will buy it. Yes it's a problem. Just buy those cars from Europe or Japan. There are also very great goods from Europe like the orange juice mentioned in the video. This is available in Europe and Northern Africa as well. Canada eh! Just switch the trading origins. Would be very nice to getting much closer to Canada and Mexico with the EU ?❤
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
I actually get the tariffs on Canada and the EU. We defend them and they make fun of us for not having free health care. Well guess what we defend you to have that free health care cause your countries won’t spend the money to defend you guys. Once you guys invaded free health will be gone. What’s better. Being free from Russia or a slave to them forever and afraid of them invading.

They place tariffs on ALL US products, try to buy a can of Pringles in Ottowa.....
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Why are reciprocal tariffs such a bad thing? If both sides use the same percentage, isn't that just fair? The era of 'free trade' is over folks.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Amazing both Canada and Mexico prefer tariffs instead of curtailing the drug and illegal immigration. \nWe are with President Trump.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Good, now we need to stop sending every country foriegn aid. We hired President Donald Trump to do these things. This will hurt Mexico and Canada far more than it will the United States. It is very hypocritical for other country's that already have tariffs on American made products to say that it is wrong for the United States to tariff their products. We do not care that it will crush your economies because we are done with propping up your economy at the expense of American workers and jobs. It is absolutely amazing that fair trading has practices are scaring your country's.

Trudeau gunna tariff orange juice and American beer … now it will cost them more money to git drunk and drown their sorrows of contracting scurvy
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Hurts the US citizens for US tariff imposed on Canadas exports to US. Canada's response: we, too, will hurt Canadians with tariffs imposed on Canada imports from US. Take that! Who pays? The people do. Who cares? Not the babies in charge.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
13 million illegals led into this country by the Biden dictatorship. That’s 13,000 fentanyl pushing immigrants from Canada and they don’t think it’s anything Trump and America should worry about. Maybe Trump should take those 13,000 drug dealers and ship them back to Canada? You deal with your own trash Canada, tariffs are being imposed because you expect America to continue to pay for you and fix your mistakes. Unlike what media is telling you Trump does have the full force of America on his side.

Serious question, WHY is trump imposing tariffs on our allies?
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
It’s blatantly obvious what’s happening next, big tariffs on the EU and NATO will be reducing/eliminated. \nThe US has accepted the reality that it is no longer has global hegemony, therefore some of these actions are logical if painful. The EU should have control of its own defence, it is ridiculous that it doesn’t as it is sufficiently wealthy to do so with ease. Further EU integration has become almost essential or the EU states will start fighting each other again. Trump is actually helping the EU to grow up.

Make America Pay More Again! As disruptive and asinine as Trump's economic schemes may be, it's sadly necessary that AMERICANS (we are often a very self-centered and blissfully uninformed people) feel the consequences of their vote as soon as possible. Americans MUST feel the pain to grasp the gravity of what a tit-for-tat tariff tiff between the US and Lord-knows-what-nation-Donald-will-go-after-next won't likely end well for us. It is what it is, and Trump is what he is. The whole world has no choice but to let all this nonsense unfold.

The Canadian economy will soon collapse hahaha, this is not the first time Trump is using Tariffs . Bias journalism
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Now Trump will impose 50% tariff on Mexico and Canada and they will collapse.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Who will pay the tariffs?? Yup, grassroot americans that soon may find the price of the fruits imported from Mexico jumps up 25% and also the oil price + raw minerals imported from Canada would jump 25% as well, which at the end, would seriously affects the price of end products of some daily items needed by grassroot americans

Mexico and Canada should only target with tariffs, US products made in Republican states.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Can I ask what is the root cause of this tariff. What is actual trumps demand for this tariff and if his demands are good why Canada and Mexico could not resolve the difference? I am not supporting trump but thought of asking for the reason.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Great work targeting tariffs on republican seats. They can pay for this nonsense insanity.

I don't understand what's going on in Trump's head, he likes Milei which is lowering tariffs but does just the opposite in the US... Lunatics are ruling our countries...
