I came to Canada in 2019 to study Master's at a highly-ranked Canadian University. I thought I'll have good education, and if I get a good job in my industry in Canada, I'll be easily able to apply for PR. Well, I completed my degree, I got a job, gained experience, but now the Express Entry system is so messed up that I cannot score that high!\n\nYes, I blame those shady colleges who offered admission to fake students, I blame those students who did not come to study but to apply for asylum. Because of them, everything is messed up. I agree that not all international students are entitled to get PR. But, those who are skilled should get a fair chance, like before. Not everyone comes here to make coffee at Tims.\n\nI saw my friend who could barely talk in English getting PR before me through the TR to PR pathway in 2021. I couldn't apply because he finished his degree earlier cz his was a College Diploma of 1 year and mine was a Master's degree.\n\nIT IS FRUSTRATING.

Devil's advocate here, if the gov changes the rules on these international students half way through their program, that kinda sucks. It's called 'bait and switch'.

If you are not minding allowing Canadian colleges to exploit Indian students then you should not mind them exploiting Canadian immigration laws. So please reform college laws and shut down universities and colleges where the domestic applicants are less than 70% and even if there are 30% allowed for international immigrants keep some cap on the country in that 30%. That way you’ll see immigration falling automatically and poor low skilled Canadian can have their Tim Hortons job back.

I think Everyone is right and wrong at the same time in all of this. Students are wrong to expect 'rights' in a country of which they are not a citizen of but they are also right in the point that government changed the rules overnight without any prior guidance. This the the same as increasing corporate tax rate in this budget. It came out of nowhere. The employers are also right because more labour = lower wages. These students are willing to work to far less than an average Canadian. If these students don't work for low wages then inflation goes ballistic. If you have to pay higher wage to manufacture a product then that extra cost gets passed on to the consumer. raising price of goods = inflation. Also This would increase taxes. If you pay more for a product, you pay % tax on total price of that item which now has baked in higher wages. If you do bring in more of these cheap labour than social services cant keep up like health care. I cannot believe how thoroughly this government has fked our country.

THOUGHT EXPERIMENT: If 100K Canadian students went to India for university and demanded the same rights these Indian students are wanting, what would the Modi government's actions be? Ha! I just graduated from college. Literally 90% of my classmates were from India. Most of them couldn't care less about classes. Had 2 of my capstone project team mates hand in CGPT generated work the entire project. Most of the actual local students (This is a Calgary Community College, you can guess which one) were protesting the fact they get pushed to graduation handing in this crap which lessens the achievement of the people who actually came there to learn. Its a shame and Im glad to see them go!

There have been a lot of people at friends' work and wife's work that are working full time that have been booted in the last 2 weeks. Instead of being students, they are just working and living here.

How can they demand anything? I was on a 2 year work visa in the UK and the moment my visa was up, I left because I followed THEIR rules. These students should not be allowed to work, they are taking jobs away from young Canadians. I am not racist, I have seen it everywhere with my own eyes and talking to people.

Nobody gives a two penny F to Canadian education. It’s sub par anyway. The unsaid deal has been simple - you pay, you stay. I’m not sure if staying in a sinking ship is a good idea but that’s a different story.\n\nI am not saying that the deal is good. I'm brown and there are too many Indians in Brampton. Most bring their bad habits with them and have no respect for the law. When any system is overwhelmed by volume..due to poor planning, poor resource management, lack of or poor controls, you will have issues. Immigration is a system of processes. This system, along with cost, resources, and time, constitute a value stream. So, what Canada has is an ill defined value stream. It was designed for 100 people, yet it is now dealing with 10,000 people at eny given time. \n\nIt is time to go back and define the requirements. This means reining in the volume, cost, and related. This will mean difficult choices on ehere to put the money. It will mean trade-offs. We have already shown that universities and provinces can not manage this....only looking for money. \n\nIt is time to start looking at having a more robust input or immigration system. Yes, it will appear heavy, and it means saying 'NO' in certain situations. One can not be everything to everyone. \n\nDefine the guard rails of the processes. Make them clear and concrete. Make thrm known. The rigorously enforce them. It is a black and white input. \n\nAdditionally, regarding university and Canada, perhaps it is tome to take the right of allowing an international student to specify a specific university. Maybe they should be assigned based upon their chosen major and the load factor...the idea is all else being the same... even costs, their intake is assigned a priority, and the slot they get assigned to is based upon level loading and capacity of the system. They have no say as far as which university...just that they will have a coat effective, high quality, result.

Money extortion business by govt world wide and these students live like 3 or 4 in one room by greedy renters who charge expensive rents as there is no rent control acts and go in poverty and low paying slavery jobs and business uses them like a slave or get into work accident at night shifts and never get documented and work in cash and sometimes no pay cheque. Canada has become worse then 3 rd world country where people are malnourished, no money, no housing , no proper working hours and threats from employers to fire them or work like slave in factories and labour system to protect workers in favour of industrialists. If you look at food bank lines, too, a LOT of them are students from other places. I understand that people want to come to Canada, but sadly we don't have the resources to support ourselves, much less any other people.

I later found out that coming over as a student would be much better than just visiting but even as that I had visiting Visa already. So I applied in a school, which I have gotten admission this May 2024. \n\nThe confusing part I would like you to advise me is , should I entered Canada with my visiting Visa and do flag pole or should I apply for study permit which I don't know the possibility of having it since I already had visiting Visa on my passport since December?\n\nPls kindly help me out \nThanks\nChigozie
