The solution to all these problems is not to make the Palestinians a Muslim or Arab country. The solution to all these problems is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. There is no other solution to this problem. Food prices are a hot topic right now. Interestingly, I was in Fort Myers Florida recently shopping at Publix and I was astonished by the high food prices versus stores around Toronto. 1.5L of Tropicana orange juice was $7.99 USD compared to $5.99 CAD, green/red peppers were much more expensive. Cereals, bread, potatoes, meats…. everything I found was consistently more expensive in USD versus CAD. Once you factor in the exchange rate it was just that much more painful. Perhaps Fort Myers is unique in this respect, or maybe it was a Publix issue, but I was happy to come home to much more reasonable food prices. \n\nWe definitely have our issues in Canada, but I love Canada. Our lakes, wilderness, and wildlife are truly majestic. We have virtually unlimited freedom to explore and roam this beautiful land. As one comment stated wisely, too many people live beyond their means and make unwise purchase decisions that create stress. Having said that, I realize that wealth and income inequality have never been worse, and many people face very difficult daily struggles. I do think Canada offers a better social safety net structure vs US to help people through those struggles, but we are definitely heading in the wrong direction in that respect. These are complex issues that are difficult to solve.

Hey, there are couple of issues that make this country, Canada, not inhabitable.\n1. no public transportation systems such as rails and buses.\n2. public servants are rude, including RCMP.\n3. too much wrong information. Canada looks like a virtual country.\n4. property tax is too high for normal people.\n\nImmigrants are usually preoccupied with wrong information.

canada is a pretty good choice for most immigrants before 2019, but since then, especially the pandemic, the house price ramped up, and the opening policy of immigration make it worse, more people come into canada, and less house built, because the house owner dont want their house depreciate, they vote the governor who prefer build less.

A South African who lived there a few years. Nothing felt better than getting on the plane to leave, and knowing I will never have to return. Even South Africa with the crime and load shedding is by far better. In many ways a man is more free here even if i have to live behind security systems. I can ride my bikes as I please where in Canada I can only ride a few months and would lose my license in a month due to BS fines. And the people here are much more open and truly hospitable, not some fake politeness. I even missed the blacks here, who at least i can joke and chat with far easier than with canadians. I found I have more in common with black africans than with white canadians who look like me and speak the same language. We may have the same skin colour but are totally different in culture. It made me realise I am more african than western, proud of it, and I would prefer to live and die with the african sun on my face with wide open space, than in some dark, cold, gloomy place living in cramped quarters in some libtard paradise constrained by so many laws. The higher educated people make more money in the USA than in Canada.

It is not leaving their land it is being allowed to flee from violence. The ceasefire has not been implemented. The seige has not been lifted. But while I returned to Canada before I retired to care for my elderly mother, I had been approved for a green card in the USA. I lived in LA for 10 years. But my very low out of pocket cost of medical care still makes Canada attractive to me. \n\nBut my kid who was 13 when I moved to the USA, stayed there when I returned to Canada. They have had a green card for 11 years and is soon to become a US citizen. They and their spouse would like to move to Canada but simply cannot make anything like a similar net income in Canada. \n\nBut the housing crisis here is very real for many people.

Australia is almost a carbon copy of its Commonwealth brother. Mineral and resource rich, a bloated and over valued housing sector, record immigration and downward pressure on real wages have all led to making it increasingly difficult to get by. \nSydney and Melbourne are both in the top 10 most expensive residential real estate markets in the world. Regarding making friends... it is hard making friends in Canada. Even if you are an introvert and you come to Canada alone eventually you will want to make friends to find an spouse. What has happened in Canada is actually quite simple. Companies sell products and services. Companies require employees in order to sell those products and services. The difference between what the companies can those products and services for and what they pay the employees is profit. The owners of the companies want to maximize this profit, therefore want to pay employees as little as possible. Scarcity is labour is one of the driving factors behind what employees are paid. One way to decrease scarcity of labour is to bring in massive amounts of immigrants. That is exactly what Canada has been doing for decades. The owners of the companies take profits and invest it in real estate. This makes real estate unaffordable for the employees whose wages have been suppressed. Lower wages also means less money from taxes available for services like health care. We allowed our politicians to be bribed into allowing massive levels of immigration. Stagnant wage growth resulted in lowered consumptive capacity in the economy. This lead to stagnant economic activity and lowered investment into things that would make the Canadian economy more productive. What we have now is unaffordable housing. Lack of jobs. A failing health care system. An educational system where the bar was lowered to accommodate the lowest common denominator. Increased crime and substance abuse resulting from the subsequent hopelessness. Several families living in a single house. People working several low paying jobs just to try to get by. People with full-time jobs that are forced to choose between being homeless or starving to death. The immigrants that are still coming here are sleeping on the sidewalk in front of homeless shelters, or maybe scraping by delivering UberEats.

Government could do a lot by providing incentives to large corporations who build and provide public housing. There are ways to entice investors to make long term investments into public housing while providing low rent to own incentives to the homeless. What goes around, comes around and Canada has the people to initiate a movement towards ending homelessness.

the price of housing is off the roof because everyone wants/need to move to cities and developers don't wanna build average housing because communist governments like Canada's make it expensive to start any business, so if they are going to build new homes they are going to be luxury homes because rich people don't complain about prices. But the people under the most stress are in the the three western provinces where the economy is more resource based and to some extent the maritimes where the rate of mortgage arrears are above average. Ontario and BC rate of mortgage arrears is the lowest and make up are the largest housing market. Canada has many large international corporations like Nutrien, Barrick Gold, banks, Enbridge, Constellation Software, Shopify, Suncor ... Healthcare is tricky to compare but where Canada mostly falls short as reported by the NIH is dental care and drugs which the NDP want to address. Why do people still keep coming to Canada? Because it's even worse where they come from. Unfortunately, even countries in Europe are in trouble. Have a look at France and Germany. Germany is in debt and in recession; all Latin EU countries are in debt up to their eyeballs, facing bankruptcy thanks to free spending liberal governments. As for Developing Countries, their GDPs are not enough to deal with their populations reaching working age. Their growth is too slow, so opportunities abroad look attractive. And, if immigrants move onward to the USA, that is the natural flow Canadian immigration has had for decades. The Can. government will need to become heavily involved in creating affordable, high density housing, cut red tape, and make education cheaper if they want to retain migrants.

We are just starting to make this same mistake in Australia. The government raised immigration to half a million people at a time when rental vacancies were very low. Homelessness is increasing. All around the west, high immigration in recent times has caused a significant hit to the quality of life. There was a time when high immigration was a means to grow a nation. That time is over.

As a Canadian, I looked into becoming an auto mechanic. Its going to take a year of school, tuition and then, in your first year, you'll make entry level wage and have to pay $3000 in tools. You might even need a truck to haul your tools around. They keep saying how they need tradespeople in Ontario, but the licensing/ apprentice process takes so long for people to transition into. Every trade is so complicated to get involved in. There is a situation where there are willing and capable people, but the admin process is too expensive and bars people who are in need of paying groceries, rent and bills. They can't find enough millrights either. Its the same problem.\n\nYou've got a surplus of willing and capable workers and employers seeking talent, but the admin process inhibits the entire process. \n\nIf I could start apprenticing on-the-job today as a mechanic or millright I would. But, I need to support family, so instead I am working readily available joe-jobs. \n\nAll trade positions will continue to be unfilled on job posting boards, while potential candidates will be busy working low pay jobs in warehouses etc. just trying to survive. Ontario is idiotic! Back in 2014 they introduced the Ontario College of Trades which only sought to take admin fees from every conceivable profession. The old bureaucratic established people in Ontario have a way of keeping everyone as peasants and minions. This is also why people are leaving for Alberta (a wise decision).

It's not only people who are leaving, even big corp. like Sears, Target , HSBC, Lowe's and most recently Nordstrom. They figured how hard to make money here in Canada. and I figured it too that's why I'm leaving.

As someone who lived abroad (Germany, japan, Holland, etc,) people rolled their eyes when I made the same complaints as you. \n\nIt's been a horrendously managed country for decades. European and other industrialized countries make us look like incompetent clowns. \n\nGlad everyone else has seen this now for what it is. \n\nHot garbage.

Rents plus utilities is more than many people make working so it's leave Canada or go on welfare forever.

Most of this is accurate, except there are plenty of homes in Canada under $400 000. The problem is with the higher rates and stress test (which is another huge factor as to why people are leaving) it's difficult to be approved for enough to even purchase a cheap home. Also the competition for cheaper homes is brutal. Even with an income over $70 000 a year your looking at maybe being approved for $270 000 right now. Not many livable houses for that price in Ontario near jobs. Canada is not the same place anymore. Another problem is wages going down or becoming stagnant due to immigration. I have personally seen both security and the trucking industries nearly destroyed because of this. When entry level and mid-range trained jobs aren't making the wage you need to live, you don't have many choices but to go somewhere you can afford.

I can't stand this place and especially people! It's sooo dreadful, if I spoke truthfully the comment would get auto deleted. So since it turned out to be the polar opposite of the propaganda and how Canadians talk about themselves to the world (and the type of immigrants who fled poverty and had absolutely nothing back home and for whom Canada is actually an upgrade of sorts), I'll just use Canada as a stepping stone to get back to the US where I studied and got all my degrees and the place was infinitely better than Canada in almost every area. And there people are actually normal, like they'll talk to you, invite you to their home or to go out, make sure you aren't alone for Thanksgiving, etc. In Canada there's none of that, you're on your own! To me living in Canada is a nightmare!
