Watching in Hungary/Slovakia: Amazing speech - hope it's understandable also to many Americans. They need to understand it before they feel the impact of Trump's trade war w/ his frm allies. I'm so proud I got an opportunity to spend few months learning English in Canada - lovely country and lovely people w/ great leaders.

Am much as it will hurt us Americans. I want Canada's to know I am fully with you guys. I got my generator ready as I know what's coming next. May we all weather this horrible storm and come out stronger. Hopefully, the Americans who believe in a con man and his cronies finally wake up and rid us of them all. If they do, I'm certain America will not fall for this kind of man for at least another 50 years. Sometimes, people don't realize what they have until it's gone.

welcome to European life pay tax for everything, in EU we pay 20-30% of VAT and up 50% of our salary go to gov.. so yeah we poor in EU as we pay up to 70%-80% in taxes (depends on EU country) but basically yeah happy life.. basically we pay for healtcare and universities , so that 3rd world people could get free education .. I hope someone like trump will take wheel of EU.. there is no place for liberalism in future..

I hope you Canadians know that WE, the sane citizens of the United States, do NOT agree with what Trump has started. Under normal circumstances I would be the last person to support our Liberal party; especially Trudeau. His past record speaks for itself. However, his talk today to the American people and Trump actually made me feel proud to be a Canadian. It was the harshest language I have heard him use towards Trump especially after enduring weeks of degrading talk from Trump in relation to calling Trudeau a governor. I hope that the Liberals follow through with protecting Canadians.

This is how the leader of a nation should act. With dignity and respect for the office they hold. With strength used for their people. Hopefully the US survives long enough to see someone appropriate back in the oval office.

I'm European and I really can't understand how you can make an economic trade war with an ally like Canada, a close and so friendly neighbor.... A dumb decision not only for the W Post... And all of this will end up heavily impacting Americans as well, also because besides Canada there is Mexico, China and the whole of Europe. In such a war there are no winners.... I really hope that the American people understand this and start fighting for this nonsense to end. \nAnd when I then hear President Trudeau called governor.... Well I get even more angry. This shows even more (but there was no need) who trump is. A suburban bully. A rude man. As an American, I hope that our allies can recognize that we are prisoners in Trump's corruption. We are as abused children in a toxic family who wait in the window, looking for someone who can help as the U. S. has, as we used to, when we weren't led by an insane person and his greedy regime. People are protesting and fighting in all kinds of ways but this regime insulates itself.

I am in the US. While it will hurt all concerned, I hope Canada and Mexico go to the mat on these tariffs. We have got to get people to turn against Trump and to attempt to teach him to stop this chaos . Impossible, I know.

As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Most Americans, love Canada and love our Canadian brothers and sisters, we’ve always supported each other in world, wars, and other attacks against our respective countries. I pray this is resolved quickly, and then we can once again live United and in harmony.

I’m an American. I admire Canada as an Ally and neighbor. I can’t imagine a better international neighbor to have. The people there are kind and strong. The Trump administration is single-handedly trying to tear down alliances. To what end? Most likely self enrichment. I’m hoping for a normalization of relations as soon as possible. I don’t want a trade war, or any kind of war with Canada. ?? ??

Thank you, Prime Minister Trudeau, for some clarity during these very troubling times. My hope is people in my country, the USA, will finally begin to listen carefully, and think about the ramifications of voting Trump into office again. I am a patriotic American. I apologize to Canada for what Trump has put Canada through and what he intends to do to Canada in the future. All I can say is that there are many people who wish Trump out of office and are doing what they can to achieve that end. So sorry Canada. I’m in Seattle and have a vacation home in British Columbia so go there often while renting out other days to other people. Wonder how the tariffs gonna affect this. For example if certain things need to be remodeled in my pad over in BC I usually order from suppliers in USA near the border since I use them for my home in Seattle too. I’m guessing it might get taxed now. Not sure how it will play out. I do know that initially tariffs gonna effect lot of people but do believe in general it will get economy better. I recently saw that Mexico been adding tariffs for years for certain USA goods (for example appliances purchased in usa from Mexico will cost another 27% etc) and it’s time for USA do similar things. Just hoping my burrito cost doesn’t keep going up. Was around 8$ several years back and now it’s 14$ in Seattle ?

Those US citizens who did not vote for tRump and we support Canada. My husband is a retired Airborne Ranger who worked cooperatively with military personnel from the UK, Canada, Germany, France, and other democratic countries around the world. We are just sick about how tRump has treated our allies. He is a bully and a draft dodging coward. I am a proud Canadian and have no love for Trudeau but more important, I fear for the American people. America was once the institution of democracy but has recently taken a very sharp turn and is heading towards the ideals of Russian communism.
