Tariffs have zero affect on Americans who don't buy products from Columbia. If you are buying a product from Columbia and its price goes up, don't buy it or buy your product from another country. It's that simple.

No offense, since I don’t know if you guys drink coffee or not, but You do realize other countries export to the US. Have never heard of Guatemalan, Brazil, Peru, Marrocan, Ethiopia, Belgium, Costa Rican coffee? Arab countries etc. They all make great coffee. Coffee is not only from Colombia. There’s so various countries producing great coffee .\n\nThey all export coffee to the US. Unless you ONLY like Colombian coffee this shouldn’t be a problem. I’m sure this benefits other countries to expand. Each with distinct flavors and aromas. \n\nStarbucks imports coffee from over 30 different countries from Latin America, Africa, Middle East. \n\nIt’s like if Trump puts a 25% tariff on French wine. I love my French wine and it would suck. But I still love my Italian and Washington State wine.\n\nBananas like mention also come from other countries as well like Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras etc. \nBasically other countries exist that benefit from this. The only problem I could see is they can’t produce enough . Which I doubt. Rents and forget about buying a house in BC, AB, Quebec, Ontario. High unemployment, Inflation is high and going up more. We also do not have a military defense system and the U.S. is tired of Canada not spending money to meet their responsibility as a Nato country. Many Canadians are leaving the country permanent. Investors and businesses are pulling out. Canada is trillions in debt but keep printing more money (toilet paper). Canada has gone downhill significantly over the past ten years. Born Canadians and legit immigrants having to go through a rigorous immigration process are very unhappy and cause conflict. Besides all the different ethnicities cause unrest and are ungrateful, daring the burn the Canadian flag, uttering death to Canada, death the US and Israel. These trouble makers have not intentions to assimilate into Canada's culture and are disrespectful to the Canadian government and it's citizens. Our youth are very unhappy and do not see a future for themselves yet have to work very hard and pay unbelievable high taxes. The minimum wages are only 15 bucks an hour which cannot sustain life here in this country. Please stop making false promises to foreigners to come here and be disappointed. This is not a country of milk and honey any longer but poor and enormous homelessness. Hunger, terrible health care, incredible post secondary tuitions and books. Now that president Trump has won the election he is going to place tariffs on Canadian goods and rightfully so. Russia is very interested in the Antarctica and should they or anyone invade Canada we got 3 days of ammunition. The food in AB is very bad for your health. Everything has pesticides, hormones, and by the time fruit and vegies arrive here from the US all the nutrition have gone. A extremely high cancer rate, young and old, diabetes, depression and other mental disorders are rampant. Our children and grandchildren do not have a future so why bother going to school or work. Our kids live on the streets, shelters, camping in the woods and using fentanyl and meth all kinds of dangerous drugs. The cities and small towns are full of used needles, pipes, and more paraphelia just thrown on the trails everywhere. The US will not assist Canada when a possible War 3 will occur, and we the people of Canada and the land are easy prey. If you do not believe me, just come visit RED Deer shelters and walk around on the trails, go to Vancouver but becareful because random assaults are happening every day, people living in tents, using the streets as toilets, drugs galore, even the police is unable to act nor arrest criminal activities caused by desperate people who need to survive. Canada's economy is about to collapse and fall into a recession. We have too many people coming in our country without checking their back ground and many criminals and terrorist groups are entering declaring refugee status whether it is true or not, we do not know. The people of Canada who work and pay highest taxes are used to house these newcomers and education, jobs, food and money. Our government take better care of these illegal people than their own people especially our youth. So please let us not pretend Canada is a land of opportunity and great. Worked for a company who was 89 percent single mothers or house wives. With in a year of a Indian person buying into the company we were all replaced by students and Indians on work visas. No a single person of another race kept there jobs. They refused to speak English and only spoke Punjabi. If they can't assimilate into our country, speak either one of our two national languages, accept our ways and be respectful of them,

It's funny, but I moved from Russia to Germany in 2019, believing that it was a rich country with cool jobs. During a few years of living in Germany, I understood that I have less money after taxes than in poor Russia. Besides, the prices of everything are higher. 1000 Euro is enough to live in Russia as well as 3000 Euro in Germany. I'm not joking. Germany is just a good picture, but you will struggle to live there. And I can't image how I could buy an apartment there. For a flat in Berlin I need around 300k, but from my 72k income I could save only 10-12k. It could take the whole adult life to buy a flat. That's unacceptable for me

Stop panicking: there’s a residential bubble because housing has some catching up to do, corporations gouged prices using propaganda to blame the government. Canada has gone through so much worse in the past, it doesn’t compare. You should understand what the pandemic has done and understand that getting back to normal doesn’t happen overnight. Just check that Canada has been ranked 3rd best country in the world after Switzerland and the US. We know that President Biden’s outstanding performance has pushed the US to that 2nd rank but let’s see how quickly it will go down under Trump. \nThe way to stop price gouging is to stop buying overpriced items, that’s all.

Thank you for summarizing these key changes! Many problems are actually the Canadian immigration system not learning from the mistakes of the US system and now it’s suffering the same consequences. If Canada cuts down on those selected immigrations but still takes in refugees, it’s only going to make anti-immigrant sentiment worse. Selected immigrants are allowed into Canada to help alleviate Canadian issues…or at least people who come through Express Entry are less likely to become a burden. On the other hand, refugees, given their unfortunate circumstances, really need to rely on a lot of social services and resources to help them resettle. The US has eliminated pretty much all non-humanitarian immigration that’s why immigrants are so demonized there. Americans only feel the drags of refugees and asylum seekers (even though ethically we need to protect them) and there is no selected immigration to balance that out. Yet this round of Canadian policy change is heading exactly that direction.\n\nIt used to be international students in Canada are not paying a lot more tuition than Canadian students. But Canadian universities saw how much money universities in the US are making so they asked the federal government to change the policy to enable them to charge international students several times the regular tuition (whereas in countries like France, international students actually pay less than citizens). So now Canadian universities rely too much on international students to operate and it becomes an exploitative relationship even before students step foot on the campus. The new PGWP eligibility is awful because students can make contributions in every field. It might (and that's a big if) address the pressing problems, but it won't help Canada grow.\n\nI thought the new language requirement was interesting. Some Canadians who immigrated decades ago when the bar was really low still speak English poorly and now they are saying people can’t come to Canada because their language skills are not sufficient. Another point about language is if you apply through Express Entry now, even if you scored the highest language score, given how competitive the pool is, you still won’t get selected. So it’s a given that you need to be fluent in one of the languages at least to get an invitation. Express Entry also selects only the top people, I saw the head of The Institute for Canadian Citizenship in interviews talking about those top-tier people only expect the best treatment/lifestyle when they come to Canada. That's why many of them leave after seeing these Canadian problems play out. But I believe a good Canadian life is not about living in a high rise in Vancouver and Toronto, driving an expensive car, or buying luxury items...it's about the communities, nature and middle-class comfort. So the system is giving PRs to the wrong kind of people (just like mismatched people when hiring that don't align with company values).\n\nThis brings me to the last frustrating issue. There were so many people who attended “fake” universities and bought “fake” jobs to earn points to get an Express Entry invitation. And it's clear that the government wasn't proactively catching these abuses. They are taking up spots from those who try to earn the points fair and square. If I understand correctly, Canada doesn’t send these people away if they are found out (since some of them were scammed). So they still take up immigration quotas.\n\nI have wanted to move to Canada for a long time. I have visited Canada many times, hiking trails through the coastline and fjords, climbing mountains and glaciers. I lived in Montreal for two months to improve my French and I was told by my homestay family that I was the first student they had who didn’t complain about the cold (I wish the winter never ends so I can skate or xc ski in the parks year-round). I have probably seen more Canada than many Canadians and I love every bit of it. But the opportunity for me to even get a shot to move there is pretty much nonexistent now. Why is the government not building new cities in Canada, if this is done, it works to operate all sectors within the country, which improves the chances of buying homes at a reasonable price and creates new jobs.. The Canadian government has many possibilities to do this, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is working to exploit the vast spaces in the country .. Therefore, the government is working to reduce taxes and encourage and support small businesses and projects .. If small productive enterprises are opened by individuals and encouraged to do so, while providing them with encouraging tax cuts, this improves the whole situation .. Let's liberalize the economy even more

She has no idea how to run a country like America or any other big country. She should focus on trying to bring up the economy in Mexico and solving issues that affect the rest of the world. Like the drugs her country makes and all the guns they buy. She's out of her league.

yes homelessness and \\all the handouts are bad at least where i live and work as a security Guard in the lowermnainland of British columbia I barely make it and the homeless people seem to have more rights and in some cases have moer money then I do working as security . as for the racism I cant speak of that living on the west coast I have had the rascist card thrown at me many times for just eplaing to a person tha tthey are on prvate property and need to leave or the biggest time was I was working at a UBC football game and a black peron was on a part of the football feild where knowone should be with out p[roper ID so I walked over and this person started to freak out calling me a racist becsaue I asked for his ID he then shows me his superbowl ring telling me that gives him pecial priliedges whiuc hit doesnt I was alway calm speaking with him and plite as he was spitting at me trying to cause more attetnion then needed . at the end of the game his friend who also had a ring and him were together as he was pointing at me calling me a racist but his friend said the only racist thign he seen was him calling me a racist . Lower prices?! Of course that would be nice. Economically speaking, that means that a vast number of people want deflation. It could work in an economy not dependent on excess and consumerism, but the US economy is propped up on speculation and buying out of want rather than need. Deflation is considered an economic failure in this country. We target 2% inflation for fear that without it, people will buy less now and then there will be a downward correction on output and then jobs. \nIn any case, broad tariffs won’t be the answer to lower prices. A global economy is an efficient one, but often unfair or unkind in specific localities. The US has benefited from globalization and low cost labor elsewhere for decades. But the pendulum swung too far and now many Americans are feeling left behind. Tariffs could bring back jobs but on a 5 to 10 year timeline, not one 4-year presidential term, much less in a year.

Mayb the US can't buy their products at all. Would that work? Why would she allow millions of illegal aliens to travel through her country. She had not done anything to stop border crossings. It seems to me better than punitive percentage tariffs is that each foreign country can buy American products first from tracked like product categories. The United States Counts how many units of that type of United States made product was bought first by a foreign  country. Then United States consumers, or companies are allowed to buy the same matching unit count of foreign products from like categories.  In this way no foreign company selling into the United States can fluid the United States Market with cheap foreign government subsidized goods. In this tracked unit count system of fair trade one American made unit sale for one foreign made like unit sale can take place.

Is he going to charge tariffs to the cartels? Or maybe like he said, bring the manufacturing Companies here, American made, no more buying from other countries! Why doesn’t he offer that to the cartels and have them manufacture their drugs here?

That can’t be good. Putting a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico could cause a lot of problems. First, they might fight back by adding their own tariffs on U.S. goods, which would hurt American farmers and businesses that sell products to those countries. It would also make things we buy, like cars and food, more expensive, which isn’t great for anyone.

This is interesting! If you take Economics 101 you will find that tariffs are not paid by another country but are passed down to the consumer(s). Is Trump's thinking that if products cost more from Mexico that Americans will buy products from someone else? And in this case most products come in from elsewhere so the U.S. consumer will be paying hire prices on what we purchase. America does not manufacture a lot of our products anymore. Trump has 1950's economic views.

Trumponomics means artificially making tariffs impossible to pay and frustrating Americans from buying import goods so that we'll turn entirely to domestic production.\n\nTrumponomics also has a geopolitical aspect, in that super-high tariffs as well as tariff exemptions can be leveraged as political blackmail or reward, respectively, to influence other countries to toe the Trump line.
