Says the guy that told Trump when asked about the number one way the United States could hurt Canada would be through tariffs. PS - Oh no, $155B. What is that, like 4% of US imports? We will be fine. Go rip off someone else and fund your own defense.

I guess USA citizens and Trudeau simply aren't getting it, Trump wants these tariffs because he WANTS to tax the heck out of the ordinary US citizen in order to pay for his tax cuts for his Billionaire friends.....Canada could have COMPLETELY stopped Fentanyl trafficking and Trump STILL would have invoked tariffs.....just like no matter what Zelenskyy could do, he was determined to make an EXCUSE to stop supporting Ukraine's war efforts.......in addition, if you didn't know better, it appears that Trump wants to team up with Russia......??????

I served alongside Canadian military when I served in the US military. They were very tough, honorable, and outstanding professionals. I have friends and family from Canada, and they love America. This trade war is so sad and so devastating for so many Americans and Canadians. These tariffs are so stupid, it's beyond reason. Trump is treating America's best friends and allies like enemies! This is not only dishonorable behavior by a US president, it is despicable!

The US seems hell bent on destroying itself. So many people are going to lose their jobs as the US economy goes into freefall. If Trump imposes higher tariffs on Europe too, we'll respond in exactly the same way as Canada.

Canada just needs to fix the trade deficit with the United States. If Trudeau does, the U.S. tariffs would not happen. Canada has turned a deaf ear when the U.S. requested a fair trading partner and less deficits in the past decades. Trump was obligated to put a tariff on Canadian goods entering the U.S. since Canada did not resolve the problem.

They didn’t play the clip where the Prime Minister says these tariffs are about destroying the Canadian economy so Trump can annex Canada. He is speaking the truth. Trump needs to be removed!

I didn't understand why Trump imposed tariffs. Canada stepped up on what was asked. Maybe Trump will explain himself.

Canada is not a state of the U.S.A., Canada is getting these tariffs as their leader is a socialist globalist, whose agenda is an enemy of the American people. Trump knows this and is starting to rol out the consequences. More lies from the globalist.

This is about more than the fentanyl. This is about Canada not pulling their own weight when it comes to defensive spending, this is about getting them to allow Us manufacturered cars into their markets, this is about convincing Canadian companies to build factories in the US… etc Trumps tariffs are creating hundreds of billions, soon to be trillions of dollars worth of investments into our market. We hold the largest market in the world. We hold the power here, not Canada. And bitching about relations with our allies isn’t going to sway conservative voters come the next election. When we win this “trade war” something tells me CNN will whine about how we won it instead of giving credit to the current administration for doing better by our citizens.

as a Canadian, i would like to thank Donald and Elon for their plans to implement the most innovative degrowth agenda imaginable. why dance around the edges like Canada has with its consumer carbon tax that rebated more money to most citizens than they spent on carbon taxes ? no, the DOGE solution to addressing climate change is much better .. just cripple the three north american economies with tariffs, put hundreds of thousands of citizens out of work, and make the Trump tax cuts permanent so that the federal government is broke as well. no more money means no more spending or consuming .. it's a win for the entire planet !!

It's great that the fentanyl problem is being attacked at the border. What about Canada inside the borders? Why did it take Trump to impose tariffs for Canada to respond to the drug problem? And what about dealing with China? Most of the chemical compounds have been brought in from there...thousands of kids have died and Canada has not addressed China's conspiracy with this. There tariff's Trump is levying on Canada are BS. Less than 1% of illegal migration comes from Canada and 0.02% of all Fentanal comes into the US from Canada. Conversely, The US imports over half its oil from Canada, and 45% of its gas from Canada.

This has nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian people. This is a pure transactional move because that is how Trump sees things. He needs the money to finance his agenda and he has been told that the money does not exist in terms of what the US Congress can provide. They won't cut military spending and they wouldn't dare touch SS or Medicare. Trumps playbook is easy to read. He puts down the economy with tariffs, buys millions of stocks when they are cheap and then he stops the tariffs saying Mexico and Canada have successfully stopped fentanyl. Economy goes back up and he just got richer on all of your backs.

Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!

canada exports 75+% of its overall products into the united states, it only imports 50ish% overall products from the united states of america. This is why the tariffs are in place. Agree or disagree, this is why trump is doing what hes doing. Our country is in shambles and we need our allies to pump money into our economy or else it will only get worse in our country. As a businessman, Trump was using Fentanyl crisis as a lame excuse. Born and raised living in Ontario Canada and I applaud Trump Canada has had a 35 to 40% tariff on American goods. Only difference is we call a duty tax? It’s about time America stuck it back to us.
