I have lived in Canada for almost 50 years.. The United States of America has been our closest neighbour and friend ever since I came here.. \nLong before I came here Canada and the US were partners… \nWe relied on each other, we supported each other and we profited from each other..\nLet me make it perfectly clear I consider myself Canadian and I love the Americans like they were my own brothers and sisters.. \nAlso let it be known that our government does not speak for the citizens of this country… \nWe are being forced by the government to follow the rules. And now our government wants the American people to believe that all Canadians are against them. \nThat couldn’t be any further from the truth. \nI can’t say every single Canadian has respect for the Americans, but I myself respect America and honour Canada.. \nAs a true Canadian, we stand on guard for both countries.. God bless America…

Now I don't want to dampen the positive comments being direct to us Canadians which we all appreciate. However, I don't want people to forget that this individual talks about making things affordable for their citizens. There is a reason he has resigned. Don't forget that our country unreasonably fights itself on sooooo many things that make items in Canada so much more expensive than they need to be. I was hopeful our own government would make living more afforable for all Canadians by putting a freeze on things such as the Carbon Tax....guess that wasn't in the cards!? Together I hope that intelligence and common decency prevails.

Canada and Mexico have always been family, as well as UK and Europe close friends and allies. Trump is by far the daftest president in the history of our nation, he’s destroying our economy and the well-being of the American people. All he’s doing is making the rich richer and getting rid of the middle class making families struggle. \n\nSo much for the equality and prosperity of our country. \n\nI really wish President Zelenskyy would not sign over any mineral l rights to the Ukraine. I felt embarrassed and completely appalled as an American for the treatment that he received. \n\nThe duped people who voted for Trump are now getting what they deserve. Canada, the American people don't want this and a lot of Trump supporters didn't want this either. I'm sorry that y'all too have to suffer and deal with a man that doesn't lead your country. Believe me I would swap with y'all tomorrow. \n\nIt's amazing how Canada came up with how many billions for border patrol but we can't get Congress to pass a bill. President Biden tried to get a bill through Congress within his first 100 days and they wouldn't pass it then either. We have scanners sitting at the Mexican Border that will detect Fentanyl but Congress would approve using them either. Everyone needs to find out how their Representative voted on that bill and make sure they are not in office next time. \n\nI don't know how this man got elected but I feel like Musk and Starlink helped him win. I just heard that Starlink is what was used to send the results in the swing states. Musk told someone an hour before polls closed that Trump was the winner, with his evil laugh and let's not forget Trump telling his supporters that they didn't need to vote cause he will win without them. That's fishy. \n\n\nY'all what do we do if he won't leave office? What do we do then? I know he just got in the White House but it's never too early to have a plan to get him out. They worked on Project 2025 for 4 years and now it's all falling into place. OMG! What are we going to do?

The very first order of business Trump did after his inauguration was to pardon 1500 crimina convicts that either plead guilty or were found guilty of charges like sedition. And insurectionists. Many of them for violent crimes like battery on a police officer. And other charges loke trespassing on a federal building, and theft charges for stealing laptops and all sorts of things.\nDonald Trumps first act was to free all of them with a wave of a pen... he freed police bashers!!! And scum bags like Elmer Rhoads, and leader of the proud boys Enrique Tarrio... and all tge violent punks that tried to overturn a free and fair election!!! I is disgusting! HE a k so pardoned the biggest drug dealer in America that catered to criminals and murderers, the owner and inventer of the silk roads dark web site.\nTrump is a Russian asset, make no mistake about it. And fir the last 40 days or so he set about to burning down all American institutions with the help of his Billionaire campaign donors that agreed to get him elected for MORE MONEY!!! Trump is turningvon our trusted allies all friends, and siding with countries like Russua, North Korea, Iran, Turkey, and other countries that are under the control of string men autocrats, and dictators! He publicly called our friend and ally Vlidomir Zelenskyy a dictator! While at the same time calling Vladimir Putin a genius, and a really smart guy that wants peace he says!\nVladimir Putin is the worlds most cold blooded mass murderer of our lifetime and he is a war criminal that kills mostly civilians, women and children deliberatly!!! He poisons his political opponents and business partners with plutonium and other ways like having them thrown out a high ruse window, or shit from the sky in an airplane!!!\nDonald Trump is a maniac that Ameruca needs to desperately get rid of before he finishes the job of burning down all our institutions and burning our constitution and democracy in order to turn Ameruca into an autocracy...\nSo, Canadians.... we Americans are deeply embarrassed and we apologize for the reckless behavior of one man!! Trump is purposely destroying our country as we know it to pay back Putin for helping him win the election, keeping trump out of jail, and making available our coffers as trumps personal piggy bank. The orange clown still does not understand how Tariffs work. It is evident he thinks it's a tax and when he sees the numbers in terms of government revenue accredited to tariffs, he ignorantly believes the country is making money. His understanding so simple he thinks he has raised GDP and is making America great again when in fact he is single handedly and in the face of universal opposition destroying the economy and causing grievous hardship to millions of Americans. Apparent friend to our worst enemies and himself the biggest enemy of the people.

Trump don’t care about his people, what he wants is make the investors invest in USA in order to not charge tariffs like if it were easy to do and get back on 2000 year when the baby Bush triggered the massive investment in china and out of us soil; smart punk then. Labor wages are more higher than in china or mexico or any other country.

Every Democrat was making the point that only the host country pays for the tariffs that it puts on items. Why is Canada upset? If we have to pay the tariffs. And then canada's answer is to what make their own people pay tariffs, that doesn't make any sense. There market is so small that even if they thought they were doing a trade war, their economy will go bottom up in no time.

MAGA will laugh and say No More Tax for all Americans!\nThey don't know that America raised a total income tax of 3 Trillion Dollars annually. But America also spend 3 Trillion dollars on imports! So to replace Income Tax with Tariffs, America needs to apply 100% tariffs on ALL Imports from All countries around the world!\nSo prices on imported goods will be at least double in America! That will make people buy less. Imports will drop! So even with 100% blanket tariffs it will not raise 3 Trillion dollars for Trump!\nWhat's more? As America tries to make more things in America to avoid tariffs, tariffs will dry up and where does Trump get 3 Trillion dollars? ?

Why is this dude still representing Canada? \n\nTwo months ago many of his key cabinets members resigned because Justin’s policies are destroying Canadians. Rightfully, he resigned. Dude needs to go away. Stop making Canada worse than what it has become under his horrendous leadership.\n\nThings happening:\n\nThe massive influx of foreigners, both legally and illegally into Canada.\n\nAffordable housing for native Canadians do not exist, people are leaving the country.\n\nHi mortgage payment or monthly rent are too high.\n\nFood prices are not coming down.\n\nSalaries are not keeping up with inflation.\n\nThe Canadian dollar keeps tanking.\n\nAs the leader of the country, he’s doing nothing to stop increasing violent crime.\n\nIncreasing amount of drugs in cities and suburbs.\n\nFinally, he’s pledging billions of dollars to Ukraine, when that money is needed at home.\n\nJustin is too emotional to deal with Trump.\n\nTrump complains about the trading balance between the two nations, $100 billion in favor of Canada.\n\nThe request is simple, import more American products, or export less products to America. But the imbalance has to stop.\n\nSame with Mexico, trading balance with Mexico is almost $200 billion in favor of Mexico. The imbalance has to stop. \n\nThe US economy is bleeding by trading with allies and partners, it’s fighting for its financial wellbeing. It is not some bs from the orange man, it is real.\n\nOf course Canada, Mexico, Europe and others want business as usual… and why wouldn’t they? ?

I am very sorry for the damage and suffering that these tariffs and trade wars will cause to people in our two countries, as it is clear that many people are. It is obvious that Donald cares more about himself and his various fantasies than he cares about other people. Unfortunately, he is supported in this by his cabinet, congressional Republicans, and enough ill-intentioned voters to make this our new reality. I hope that there will be a point in the future when life will become friendly again.

Please keep in mind, that all the issues we have in Canada are because of Trudeau. He's been in power for almost a decade. The widespread drug abuse and crime is because of him being weak on policy and handing out drugs like candy paid by tax payers. More people died from fentanyl in Canada than our soldiers in WWII. That is all on his watch. He is only making these changes because of Trump. What kind of a leader is Trudeau to only become Canada first when a person from outside the country threatens him? He is a horrible leader and a traitor to the Citizens and the Country we call Canada. Regardless of what his speech is, he cannot be trusted with his globalist agenda. He has stepped down (thank goodness!!) and Canada is looking forward to having Pierre Poilievre as our PM.

I am a canadian and half my family live in the US... we are not enemies but I am not alone in fearing what America is becoming and the direction it is taking in trade , geo politics and governing philosophy. \nthe people behind project 2025 are not rational old conservatives harking back to a by gone era, they are christian fundementalists enacting a plan to bring about the transformation of the US into a full blown christian theocracy. I'm just going to clarify something remember when they said Trump had allies with Russia now you see what the Democrats were talking about. Trump always blames democrats for his faults. I'm a Canadian who has always voted for Prime Minister Trudeau and I will continue to vote liberal. I heard a person on the Jake Tapper, C NN, this afternoon say all the companies are coming to the USA not Canada, he didn't mention that they come because they don't have to pay a lot of taxes. Us Canadians take great offense that the spawn of the devil wants to annex our country and he refers to our Prime Minister as governor. The gaslighting the world is displaying is unbelievable. The moment America starts to look out for itself, like a toxic partner or lover, the world is responding by making us look like the problem. Not the people who have taken advantage of us. We have been the world's savior for 100 years, where is the gratitude? The US isn't launching a trade war against anyone. We are closing up shop and are getting ready to take care of our own. There is a massive difference. We cannot be expected to continue supporting other countries economies and defense obligations, when we have 2 generations of working class citizens unable to afford a home or have children. We have entire countries we could fill with the homeless and incarcerated, and veterans who see little to no positive treatment or respect within the job market. Things are already very very bad here in the states. I don't think many Americans realize how bad the economy is. Tariffs will force US companies to reduce the outsourcing of jobs, and force other countries who are over-reliant on trade from the States, to cultivate their own self-sufficiency. This may seem hypocritical when it comes to China, but that isn't a problem you can solve overnight. \n\nTo make it clear, Americans are going to suffer in the wake of this tariff decision, but that is the price we pay to force ourselves to change. We have made ourselves into a very weak country because of overreliance on other countries trade, and other countries overreliance on our intelligence, infrastructure, medical advancements, technological advancements, and defense capabilities. The american consumer and taxpayer front the bills for all of this, and they are suffering. This isn't a war on the rest of the world. It us telling everyone else that we can no longer be relied upon because we are weak. \n\nI didnt' even vote Trump the first two times he ran. But things have now gotten so bad that I was forced into voting for him this time. Why? Because he's a bull in a china shop. I expect him to tear every damn thing apart he can within our government. The Trump recession began yesterday. I fully support our great neighbor to the North, and my favorite foreign country in the world. Speaking as an American. A REAL American who stands by our Constitution and the laws of our land and not with a TRAITOR. We do NOT want this. I have always been clueless to how Americans can hear what this traitor says and support it. It reminds me of the movie Shalow Hal. No president has ever done so much damage at home and abroad so quickly. \n\nTrump is the Deceiver and the Destroyer. Trump doesn't care if his voters figure it out. They are no longer needed.

So Trudeau calls Putin a liar and a murderous dictator but we all remember a few years ago, the same PM declaring is admiration for China's dictatorship. On a trip in Europe he even downgraded is own people while trying to suck up to the Germans. A few years ago Trudeau said that Canadians didn't really have an identity and announced that he wished to make Canada the first post national country in history. I'm sorry guys, I do not like the tariffs but I just cannot stand this guy!

I’m not particularly a savvy political person, but even I could see this coming. Trump/Musk have chosen to start a war against our own people & isolating us from allies & neighbors is a particularly bad move. Who will defend us against Russian aggression when we have no allies & friends left. And make no mistake-this fits right into Putin’s plans. If The US is no longer able to stand against him, who will? It has been a balance of power that has kept democracy flourishing and given Americans so much freedom & prosperity.
