Im a 34 yr old Canadian and share the exact same view as you about this country. \nMy husband, myself and our tow kids moved to Mexico a few years ago, as well as a few friends of ours, and leaving Canada was like getting out of a toxic relationship lol Once you're out of the 'bubble' that Canada has created for it's citizens you see just how sour it has become. \nThat being said, we did move back to Canada to buy some land far north Alberta-only because we have small kids and want them to be around family-but if it was just my husband and myself we DEFINITELY would have stayed in Mexico. \nMexico feels safer, its beautiful there all over the country, the people have wonderful community and live life fully, the culture is enthralling, the food is BETTER in every way, the language (Spanish) is a fun element to life, and best of all-in Mexico, you are out of the censorship and the 'fear bubble' in Canada. You see it all over headlines, you hear it on the radio, it comes out of everyone's mouths in Canada-obsessed with 'safety' and everyone is terrified of living. Now that we're back we're very aware of it and do our best to ignore it and block it out. \n\nMoving abroad is a lot of work, but I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it. If you are able to, just do it.

Look, I'm a white Canadian, and I don't hate Indians at all. However, lately, there are far too many Indians arriving here. I live in a small town, and the vast majority of the workers in all our franchise restaurants, Walmart, hotels, etc, are Indian. Yes, some Indians really have been pooping on the beach. I've seen videos posted by Indians about Indians pooping on beaches in places like Goa. No, not all Indians do that, but it doesn't reflect well on Indians. My next-door neighbours are Indian immigrants, and stereotypically, they own a pizza franchise lol. Their children play at our house with our daughter almost every day. On a negative note, they only hire other Indians to work in their store. In general, the indians that are in Canada do need to work on their cultural integration. My neighbours brought their parents over, and they aren't even trying to learn English. I don't want Canada to become like India. Also, I dont think that most Indian immigrants really want that either, but if we keep flooding Canada with Indians, that will eventually happen.

I am West Indian, descendent of India indentured workers. I love my country of birth, Canada where I have lived since 3, and I have much love and pride in my Indian roots. That being said, I have come to feel embarrassed of being taken for East Indian by other Canadian people. I moved to small city outside of Toronto in 2004. I loved it here! People were so welcoming, kind, friendly. I felt no prejudicial treatment from any of my neighbours. \nFast forward, my little city is now overrun with new Indian immigrants. I can’t tell if I am in the heart of Toronto or Brampton or my city of Oshawa. \nThe Indian people I encounter in the grocery store are pushy, have no Canadian manners, speak their language loudly, come to the stores with their entire family which fills up the isles and cause long lines. All the sale items are sold out by the time you get there because Indians are filling their cart with as much as they can purchase of any of the on sale merchandise. This never happened before. \nI am also saddened by being assaulted when an Indian person passes by and wave of body order sickens me. I don’t understand what the cause of that is. Not bathing regularly or not using deodorant. But I notice this everywhere I come in contact with Indians, men and women, young and old. \nI feel like I will be mistaken for East Indian myself which I have been when I went to the hospital. I was treated like I couldn’t speak English lol\nThe worst is the Muslims, they are the rudest the way they fill every available free space, make women feel uncomfortable and are just intrusive and unable to incorporate themselves with other Canadians. I left Canada finally after many many years of debating for myself. It’s the best thing I ever did. I have a really good job, that pays me more than three times my monthly overhead. After literally struggling in Canada for 30+ years as an adult trying to keep a job amongst colleagues that hate you for everything that I was and wasn’t, had and didn’t have. I’m very happy that I left and can go to work peacefully everyday, without needing to feel like I’m a piece of crap that doesn’t have the right to exist. I came to Canada at age 12 with my parents. And was always called names, always under minded, overlooked, put down, bullied and never had a single job that also contributed to my pension. When I left Canada, immigration Canada emailed me daily for three months telling me to come back to Canada IMMEDIATELY lol. Because my home country wasn’t safe enough to live in. I’m from Belgium. It’s much safer, friendlier, empathic and prosperous than Canada ever was

Okay so no 100 k wont' get you that life you dream of, you'll get by in BC, but you can't buy anything. You can rent, you need 200 k now in BC, Kelowna average house is 1.1 m, Vancouver 1 bedroom is 3000 +, nobody wants to live in a jail cell, but maybe some wierdo's do? I don't know. \n\nIf your working and making 100 k in Vancouver, your working likely many hours for that, meaning there is no pay off, no car, rent a small apartment, have little savings.\n\nNow here's the REAL catch. If you make what some think is rich in Canada say 300 k a year. That works out to 182,000 after taxes, pension etc. Now homes in Vancouver, well let's maybe look at small condo's, hmm lets say a 850 sq foot condo sets you back 900 k, monthly mortgage is 6000, that's 72,000 a year, insurance, no car okay can't afford it, maybe a small car, 1000 a month insurance, payments fuel etc, cable, internet phone, etc etc food, another 2000 for a family of 3, wife one child. Thats now 9000 a month, dental, eye glasses, clothes, sports, other, another 1000 a month, 10,000 a month = 120,000 a year to live in a small 2 bedroom condo in Vancouver. Oh and condo fees 500 per month, so 126,000 a year, no extras yet.\n\nmeaning if you make 300 k a year and lets add on JOB expense, usually with high income comes some expenses, lets call it 6000 a year, suits, whatever. Thats 132,000 minus the after tax income of 182 and your left with 50,000 per year for savings and xmas, travel etc.\n\nNow you make 300 k a year and you live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and maybe some day, 10 years down the road you can buy a home. \n\nAnd the max you can afford on 300 k a year is around 1 million after a 100 k deposit.\n\nNow if you make more than that, there is NO reason to live in Canada, in BC they take 48 % of my income and what do I get lol, zilch, bad health care haha fun,

It seems like there is a small percentage of really bad tenants AND also really bad landlords creating awful policies that ruin it for the large percentage of good tenants and good landlords. Every time I read the news there are horror stories from the point of view of renters BUT also horror stories from the point of view of landlords (like in this case). This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.
