I can understand the pain the gentleman is going through my family own a life housing and land in Uganda very few tenants have paid and the government is not letting us evict them but love us to continue to pay our taxes while allowing encroachers to steal our land and some of them are military personalities. I'm a Canadian and I moved to Asia 20 years ago. My motivations for leaving were the endless winters, the absolute necessity of having a car and two sets of tires, crazy insurance prices, and getting taxed on everything without seeing benefits. Now when I visit I am shocked at the price of everything from food to gas to hotels. In addition, I hear that housing has gone through the roof. Many can't afford to buy and face bidding wars to rent a place. With oil, timber, minerals and more, Canada should not be in this position. The government(s) have really messed things up and need to start reversing these trends now.

I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. JT is truly an embarrassment for this country although the US is in step with comatose Joe. I feel sorry for the kids and many others that are trying to survive, make a living and buy houses. Reverse discrimination has been at play for 20 years or so but is really out of control these days when a white Canadian kid that has got 5 yr honours degree in University has trouble finding a job today because you are the wrong colour. Our national anthem was changed a number of years back for no good reason. Immigrants are being imported by this idiot called our PM and handed out living accommodations, jobs and our hard earned $$ that he stole from us while our own people fall deeper into the quagmire. Many of these immigrants are bringing their hatreds and views with them to are country and are causing chaos. We are heavily taxed for driving our cars and heating our houses on FALSE pretenses with the govt saying it is to save the world - nice try - BS. The government and schools are pushing the alphabet children protocol per the WEF. These are just a few things that are wrong with this country that is sinking quicker than the Titanic. Everything this country stood for is now gone. It is so obvious to anyone that doesn't consume the main stream medias programming what is going on here (and when you do look at it you see how ridiculous what they report, how they report, they are no longer reporters but merely reading the scripts they have been handed by the powers that be) , however there are far too many people with their faces in their phones that are zombies today which is what the governments want. No need to demonize Canada like this,it might not be the perfect place to be and yes this crisis exists,But there are people who work their way through the system, Canada presents a great opportunity for a far richer lifestyle than in India,Of course there are a few downsides but not everything.I have been living in this country for the past 5 years and there is a huge potential in this country.Just need to be careful,And not everyone in Canada is injecting or investing drugs,Buying a house is expensive,That doesn't mean people live on the streets,They rent out.Due to sudden influx of immigrants and refugees there is a housing and job issue,But eventually due to measures in place this will be revolved Im sure Canada will bounce back and create more opportunities and affordable housing in the coming years

It is very hard to point out all the negatives about Canada (at this time) without getting into politics, but I am looking forward to your video.\n\nCanada has changed over the last 10 years that it is unrecognizable. While many countries have changed due to global factors, many changes in Canada can be traced back to the policy issues and politics (all levels of gov but especially federal gov). That includes: 1) mass immigration (at a time when we have a housing crisis and most of ppl living here cannot afford a place (to buy or rent)), 2) crime - this is directly related to changes introduced by the federal liberals, 3) drugs - federal liberals again, 4) housing crisis - all levels of gov - most of people in Canada cannot afford a place to buy or rent - what kind of country are we???, 5) economy (GDP/capita has been decreasing for 2 yrs now, investment per worker has been stagnant or decreasing, productivity) - our economy is real estate, education and public sector, 6) deficit/fiscal irresponsibility - all levels of gov but federal liberals are exceptionally good at this. We are a mess.

Same in Australia, insane rent and as for buying a house ! The bank of Mum and Dad is only going to go so far ,living costs ,petrol and idiot climate change solutions have wrecked the lucky country .Im off back to Czech Republic where I lived for 19 years very soon.

Unfortunately, this problem is happening in many countries. I live in California, and the price of housing is become a crisis. There are many homeless people. \nIt costs so much to build housing nowadays, that people cannot afford to buy or rent houses after they are built. The developers want to sell the houses for market value, which many people cannot afford. There is no easy solution to this problem.

So many Canadians in the same situation — perhaps use your Canadian passport ? so many better places for you to be… find a nice job across the border in the US — it’s so easy to get a TN work Visa, or work tax free in the UAE, or build a nice career in Singapore. I had the same problem with Australia — it’s my home, and my heart will always fondly call it home forever. Australia is a big country with small job market, generally ignorant (but nice) people and limited economic diversity. One gets proper civic amenities only in either Melbourne or Sydney e.g., top notch medical care, a wide variety of groceries etc. Taxation is very high and although some people will tell you “we are well taken care of…” that is not true nowadays. The Australian Government’s policies over the last 40 years destroyed manufacturing, the economy, working conditions and inflated the property market. A reasonable 2-bedroom apartment in a Sydney suburb could cost you Au$2000-3000 in rent or Au$500,000+ to buy — and that goes higher as you get closer to downtown Sydney. The problem is that incomes are not high enough in Australia and housing quality is less than average overall for these ridiculous prices. Food, tolls and petrol cost a lot, although Sydney and Melbourne’s fresh food markets give you better prices than you’ll find in most other cities. My wife and I had a combined income of over Au$300,000/year while we lived there. We finally left Australia and moved to the US because even with our relatively high income we could only have an average house for around Au$1.8 million, we couldn’t fill up the tub and have a proper bath because of water restrictions, our kids would get an average schooling and their only dream in life would be to one day own a house. We didn’t want to live like that, so we wrapped up and left for good. The US is much better for skilled people — I don’t mean plumbers, tilers, roofers or landscapers, although life is good for them too. I’m sure someone will reply to this comment about the gun violence in the US. All I can say is that in the US we have the option to defend ourselves whereas in Australia we are expected to quietly die if someone kicks us in the head, stabs us or shoots us. Quality of life is good here in the US for me and my family. Fly free, mate!

the speech is always the same in every country - I'm from Portugal, the same thing happens here, no one can buy a house or rent a house, the wages are barely enough to eat - I live on the minimum wage, I work to get it, and here immigrants receive the same or more than me without DOING ANYTHING!!!! The current resident are suffering more than enough. A couples who are graduates from university of Toronto can not afford buying a house, or rent and can not make a family. I came to Berlin, Germany ?? from India with my family in 2021 on EU Blue card. I work here as a Software Engineer and last month I got my PR. Below are my observations \n1) Not expat friendly at all - Most of Govt departments doesn’t want to speak English at all making us feel we are useless. Esp at initial level it is next to impossible \n2) Taxes are too high I have lots of friends in Netherlands in HSM visa and they have 30 percent off in total salary meaning taxes are charged on remaining 70 percent.\n3) Difficult to buy home in Germany ?? whereas in Netherlands it is super easy and banks easily give 100 percent mortgage. Many friends of mine took their own house on the very first year and their emi is almost equivalent to the rent.\n4) Openess to English is still an issue if Germany ?? needs more skilled workers which I feel they desperately need it they would need to be more open towards English which is a common linked language.\n5) People are not at all friendly and avoid small talks.

for the housing crisis, perhaps we also need to rethink a system that allows people to buy multiple properties and either become landlords or sit on the property to sell at a future date. both situations reduce the housing opportunities for people and cause the cost of housing to increase

That’s why I’m leaving Canada. I’m not raising my kids there, I don’t want to live there for the rest of my life, it’s more unsafe than it was when I grew up, it’s unaffordable. I want to buy a house one day and I’ll never be able to do that in Canada. So, I’m out.

I moved to Munich from Warsaw 2 years ago. Munich is nice, safe and clean, but also a bit boring. The wages are high, but so are the rents and groceries (not mentioning services). Soo in my field of work Im not saving more money than back home (lower wages but also lower rents). And a huuuge downside here is - I will never be able to afford to buy real estate here. Back in Poland that's still accessible (even though less and less..). So all in all I think I will be moving back in a couple of years to settle down back in Poland, on my own piece of land, in my own house. Ideally, my german employer will allow my to still work for them, remotely. But if that's not the case, then I will look elsewhere.\nOne more thing - If the german gov. would subsidize langueage lessons, I would totally take advantage of that.. and maybe stayed here longer.

Landlords should band together and not rent their properties. See how fast the country crumbles with people out of the streets. Landlords provide housing for those who can’t afford to buy a home to at least have a place to live. The government has failed the people with not building enough homes, and now they rub salt on the wound with mass immigration.

Because some groups take over entire neighborhoods and buy up all the properties and become slumlords lowering housing quality while increasing housing costs at the same time. \n\nSome immigrants like to take over all the seats in coffee shops without buying anything leaving paying customers with nowhere to sit. \n\nThey have drastically changed the etiquette of this once great country.

Young Canadians need something affordable to be able to leave their parents' homes.

The problem is not just the tenants. Part of the problem is creation of a speculative housing market where housing a basic human need is primarily constructed for stock market like trading speculation rather than providing shelter for people. If you already own a house or condo that you are already living in why should you be allowed to personally buy multiple housing properties. My opinion is that if you are not a real estate developer or the government you should be limited to owning only one extra real estate property with the only extra exception being a recreational cottage

Sad part is Jagmeet Singh is pushing for MORE tentant rights to make this even more difficult. I'm dealing with similar situation, massive repairs stiffed on rent, thankfully it's not Ontario or BC. If they ever go to buy a house now they will have outstanding court order against them.

stop buying property just to rent it out maybe get a real job instead of taking over properties that you dont intend to live in making the housing crisis even worse. same goes for the people who loaned out to make a bunch of apartments airbnb. you aren't providing anything, your taking something thats available off the market and then repackaging it like its helpful. its really a big part of why housing is so expensive no one wants to work they just want to be landlords.

As a landlord - I had this happen to me .\n$35k in unpaid rent which I never got back after the tenant moved out .\nI learnt that the tenant had done this to 2 other landlords prior .\nIt’s a shame - my house was priced fairly and was a brand new home . There was no reason to pay other than greed .\nI have since sold the home and moved on : it’s one less home for people who can’t afford to buy at the moment to rent .\nThis stupid system needs to be overhauled .

Why bother buying a second house. Laws are against that it seems

My landlord has like 10 properties that he uses illegally in things like airbnb and renting on cash. On just the top floor, there are like 10 people and I am paying like $1650 for a single room with ensuite washroom. This landlord subleases the house for things like airbnb and he is not even the owner and yeah basically, Canada is country where all the con men come from around the world where they have learned to find loopholes in the system come to practice it here. We can't even dream of having a house of our own because these people with crazy money just buy up all the properties. 1 man ends up having so many houses where others can't even buy 1 and so we have to resort to paying rent/morgage of these people who keep multiplying their properties.

Housing is the bigger problem, not the immigrants. We allowed foreign buyers to mop up all the detached and artificially raise prices. Now homes are 8-10x income when banks will only lend you 4x. How does that math work? Are Canadians supposed to have 600k saved if they want to buy a start 1M detached in Toronto? There are a multitude of issues in Canada right now.

The problem with some of the immigration is that some forget the values and ethics! My family has been in Canada since before Canada was Canada and I don't care what others say about me because no matter what we say, we are called racists and that's why so many of us have been afraid to say anything for years and yet look what our silence has gotten us - a country where people can't afford to live and where teens can't get jobs because East Indians have taken all of the jobs. For every hundred people who are looking for the same job there is sn employment problem. For every hundred people looking for the same apartment you have a rental problem. For every hundred people looking to buy the same house there's going to be a housing problem. For every hundred people looking to take the same thing as the other hundred people you have a society with a big problem. In many cities daycare is a big problem because of the number of new people coming into the country and replacing those who are already in line for social services. Language services replace the priority of local citizens who have to move to the sidelines in order for new comers can be equal but when too many people are coming into the country things will never be equal. Anyone coming to Canada must be fluent in English so as to not put a strain on local social services..

There are no services available to me, after paying taxes for more then 40 years. They lie about having the money to get in, then when they get here they complain, take our housing, our jobs (Ukrainians can work in Canada as soon as their plane lands, after receiving $3,000 in cash from the government of Canada).\n\nCanadians are treated as second class citizens, priority is given to new Canadians. There are absolutely no services available to me, no doctor, no affordable housing, double the price for food, no medical, nothing....
