Those Google salary numbers seem abnormally high, and a quick search on a Knowledge Hut blog reveals much more grounded numbers. I can scarcely think of anywhere with such drastic salary hikes per level.\nWhere is that information from?

Simple: One does not leave their country without a plan. Stop believing an agency. They are a competitive profit making angry scammers. Stop being lazy to do your homework, which is a simple google search.

Living in USA is very different from living in Canada. Mortgages in Canada is very expensive compared to USA. Utilities, insurance, gas, food,, clothes is twice high in Canada. A simple google search can show that. I had moved from USA to Canada and had to return to the USA. Winters are so long in Canada just heating your house takes up half of your paycheck. Agencies are selling Canada more because its harder to get USA visa

You haven’t seen anything yet in my opinion.\n hiring more police wont fix this but in reality will fuel the crime . \nCorrupt greedy politicians and top city staff ruined T.O .\nNever mind spin media , \n ask people on the street how they feel in public in the city now .\nAsk people driving how they feel about traffic . Ask people on TTC how they feel .\nAsk people who live along Eglinton how they feel about the EGLINTON transit project .\nAsk people how they feel about the rental and home affordability.\n Media needs to stop the spin and start getting proper people into running the city .\n Not greedy corrupt people with a history of corruption, it’s so obvious.\n Just google anyone’s conflict of interest record or corruption allegations they got away with .

Who told Trudeau? Google? ?

He was a gang ⭐ Google it...Gang wars common in Canada... don't blame everything on India whenever some khalistani die in Canada...Normal Canadians not to worry... Criminals should worry

I’m sorry but comparing Google to Shopify is like comparing a fast food conglomerate to a local diner. Shopify is nowhere near the size of google bro ??. What a terrible comparison and clearly a American bias video.
2023-09-05 0
That's how you disappear when you sluse Google in china
2023-09-04 0
Even more faire comparison is Google Canada vs Google America, the wages are like 50% higher. I know because I worked at Google Canada.
2023-09-04 0
11:40 What they make at Google in Silicon Valley is far more expensive than the cost of living in other places. Thinking 99% of viewers will have sympathy for an immigrant who will earn 10x what they earn, lol.

Is it werid to compare shopify and Google
2023-09-03 0
does this count the illegals ones, which average 7K per day just the Mexico-US border alone. I guess, not. Comparing Google to Shopify is laughable. Should have compared it to both Google.
2023-09-02 0
Set up machine gun nests. If they pass a certain line on the ground(border) too bad so sad… sounds “hateful”, right? Well I dare anyone show me ANY other country on the planet that one can just walk over the border and plant your ass down and demand that the people of that country take care of you and your family. It’s only racist if America does it tho. Google “Mexican southern border”

I wanted to come to Canada, but when I start googling about the country I changed my mind
2023-08-24 0
Is Shopify equivalent to Google?\nDoesn't seem like it to me.

*I have my folks in London and even after having kids are somehow planning to return back to India … asking their employer (Google) to relocate them to Hyderabad …. Looks like young Indians are finally realising and returning back home* ??

Canada is known as one of the money laundering capitals of the world. Get yourself a VPN and say you’re anywhere in the world outside of Canada and you’ll see this in a Google search. The snow washing is what’s destroying the country. Despite what this news piece states it’s actually a very corrupt country that’s lacking basic banking regulations. The majority of Americans haven’t ever heard the term like shadow banking whereas up north everyone knows what’s is. The Canadian regulators are asleep at the switch ands mainly due to corruption.

10 months ago the policy changed so what all’ of a sudden in mid-August they attempt to charge thru a LEGAL border crossing? Another fact is Venezuela is a TPS country which means no more than a designated number of asylum seekers can be admitted into the US. So b4 you go believing what you’re seeing and hearing. Look it up Google US.gov site on immigration. Just saying

Did you actually visit the cities and provinces? Or did you google it? From someone who grew up in Ontario and live in Alberta, you couldn't be further from the truth!

Comparing Shopfy to Google is not apple to apple. What about Google Canada to Goolge US?
2023-08-07 0
Why didn’t you compare the salary of Google salaries in Canada and the US instead of a different company
2023-08-04 0
Can you explain why Canadian Shopify is what you chose to compare to US Google? Is there not a Canadian Google? Or… like, something about that seems wrong.
2023-08-03 0
while shopify does pay less the levels don't line up 1 to 1. it is misleading to suggest that. I don't understand why you didnt choose google canada vs google usa, or amazon canada vs amazon usa.
2023-08-02 0
Im no expert, but comparing Shopify, a common place company, to Google, a world dominating tech superpower doesnt seem like a fair comparison
2023-08-02 0
There are plenty of school shootings in US cities of less than 50,000 people. I’m not sure where you are recommending to go that doesn’t have massacres. Please google the statistics.
2023-08-02 0
Big fan of the cherry picking of comparing Shopify to Google... since those jobs are the same haha! Maybe compare it to a smaller tech company, but what you did is like comparing Walmart to Olly's Discount Outlet
2023-07-31 0
compensation comparison is wrong, it’s not apples to apples or levels to levels even. L5 at Shopify is an L4 at Google, you should compare Google CA to Google US. Overall the compensation difference is around 30-20%
2023-07-31 0
Why didn't you find out how much a developer at a US e-commerce platform makes and compare that with Shopify? You picked GOOGLE of all entities, which isn't exactly an analog to Shopify. Why not Square?
2023-07-31 0
Canadian tech salaries are laughable because our tech industry is laughable. No competition, barely any inventions and not as big of an industry as the US; hence lower salaries. Why tech industries don't flourish here is a million reasons and I wish for it to change one day. Our largest companies are all Banks, Monopolies or Oligopolies and its the one thing I dislike about Canada.\n\nOur largest and only (actual) tech company that isn't a consulting firm IS SHOPIFY. WHICH IS A RECENT THING SHOPIFY HASNT BEEN AROUND FOR THAT LONG so you can tell we are nothing like the US with Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, all their subsidiaries and the thousand other tech companies and the thousand other subsidiaries of theirs.
2023-07-30 0
There is no why this channel tried to compare Canadian Shopify salaries to US Google and write that off as actual evidence ?
2023-07-30 0
I think comparing Shopify to Google is not really great. These companies likely do not pay the same in any market. It would make much more sense to compare broader industry averages.
2023-07-29 0
Canadian here. It's unfair that you compare Shopify to Google with Google being one of the largest companies in the world. Also the housing market crisis in Canada is because we have an unsustainable housing bubble that should have poped over a decade ago but didn't and a large chunk of the economy is tied to housing. I was almost kicked out of my socialized house because they want to go from renting to selling it at market value
2023-07-29 0
Bit of a disingenuous comparison of Canadian and US tech salary. First of all Google is one of the top salaries among big tech companies and it is very competitive to get a job there. Secondly Google and many other American companies have operations in Canada with salaries around 60-70% of what they pay in USA, which is way more than 15-30% you stated.
2023-07-29 0
i find it outrageous how much places like google pay for software engineers. engineers in other field make much much less and even software engineers working for small companies make much less.
2023-07-29 1
The US has a great propaganda machine, that’s why so many people blindly try to go there instead of trying to go to saner places. The Google salaries are insane, but getting into Google requires even more luck, so perhaps a comparison with a smaller (non-MAMAA) company would be better?
2023-07-29 0
A little balance here please. Immigration is not utopia. 80-90% of H1-B visas in the US go to consulting companies that displace American labor with cheaper overseas labor that misrepresents their skills when applying (the fraud you mentioned). Less than 10% of H1-B visas actually go to people hired from abroad for their existing talent by places like Google or Facebook. And please also mention the percentage of income that immigrants from places like India actually send back to India instead of into the local economy, because it's the majority of their income, even in high cost of living cities. \n\nNo utopia.
2023-07-29 0
At 11:53, the comparison between Shopify and Google's wages don't feel right.\n\nGoogle is is a much larger company than Shopify, so of course the wages are that different.
2023-07-29 0
Why did you compare Shopify and google lol????
2023-07-29 0
The comparison of tech salaries are way off .... a l3 at google only a handfull gett those, most company pays like in the US
2023-07-29 0
Compare Google Canada to Google US. And Shopify Canada to Shopify US. That's not proverbial apples to apples. Of course different companies are going to pay a different wage.
2023-07-29 0
Salary comparisons between Shopify and Google is not a good way to compare tech salaries of the two countries in general. You could make a very similar chart using any mid-tier tech company in the US vs. Google as well.
2023-07-28 0
As a first gen Chinese American, and to be fair to the US, please remember (1) US has a border with Mexico, which means illegal immigration is so much bigger than legal ones that it sucks up much of the government immigration resources. (2l when the US population is as small as Canada's today, US was not only letting in people from all over the world but also giving them free land (google the homestead acts).
2023-07-28 0
11:44 That’s just not a fair comparison. Google and Shopify pay differently even for the same city. True that Canada salaries are lower, but it could’ve compared for the same company. Take ServiceNow, for example. For IC3, average salary in USA is about $210K, whereas in Canada, it’s $110K. Not to mention, the taxes in Canada are higher and the cost of living around 60-80% of USA depending on the location. Hence, the favorable outlook towards USA despite the immigration struggles.

I usually really like PolyMatter but this video is clearly biased and missing important details. \n\nWhat this video does not talk about is that we already have millions of H1B in this country competing for jobs with American citizens; go into any IT department of most banks, and you will find mostly H1B workers. Walking into any major university career fair, you will see the predatorial scene of hordes of foreign master students competing against American bachelors for the same new grad jobs; with many of the foreign students already having real career experience in their own country competing against inexperienced American young adults. \n\nThis video also does not mention the H1B lottery is not a single-try event. Everyone is given 3 tries and it refreshes if you get another American degree. \n\nLastly, this video does not mention the fact that people not on American soil could also apply for the H1B lottery which contributes further to the low rate. \n\nComparing pays between companies was ridiculous in this video's context. Google L3 in America should be compared with Google L3 in Canada, which are not very different in pay, after adjusting for the cost of living.\n\nIn terms of the country cap, just because some countries happen to have more people than other countries, it's not America's problem to solve; America has to do what is in the best interest of America. In this case, America simply decided to prioritize diversity in yearly admittees.

This isn't really apples to apples. \nYou're comparing Google to Shopify?\nThat gap exists in the us as well. Plus, the housing in the us isn't affordable at the tech hubs. bay area has 1 million dollar shacks and if you're making Google type money you most likely can't move to a cheaper state unless you want your pay cut.
2023-07-28 0
The best way to work in the US while being a Canadian is by TN visa or status. 3 year limit but can be renewed indefinitely as long as an employer wants you in the US. So for anyone trying to apply for a job in the US from outside NA get a Canadian citizenship then go to US for work rather than dealing with H1B visa process. If you are wondering does TN visa cost you or employer a lot of money or hassle, the best answer is no but you can ask the employer to expedite the process by having them pay around $555 if you want the letter by mail otherwise its only $55 at the airport. Google TN visa and look at US gov. webpage, it tells you everything.

I thought it might be possible that you found an echo chamber, so I did some quick Googling. Apparently about 2.5% of Canada's immigrants are American, while 2% of America's immigrants are Canadian. Given the approximately 10-1 population ratio, that's a lot of Canadians moving to the US. I guess the Canadians who would move to the US don't hang out on Reddit.

1. While McDonald's was originally created in the US there is a 2nd version and its 100% Canadian. After the u.s. McDonald's began franchising one of the brothers became so disgusted with the lack of regulation in the US on what is considered 'food' he moved to Canada and relaunched the chain. While the restaurant named remains the same and a handful of the main burgers the two companies are completely separate and have nothing to do with one another.\n\n2. Gov work, nurses, doctors, teachers, etc have a regulated minimum wage of 7.25 are you ....... kidding me??? 3. The US has no paid maternity leave u have the baby take 2 weeks off unpaid and back work 4. Server's make 2.13 + tips an hour ...... 5. The federal and state government recommend homes in the city have sewage plumbing BUT it is not required. There are literally houses in the southern states with the toilets flushing right into the front or backyard. 6. Perfectly fine to pay a man more than a woman in the US because a woman isnt a man. 7. And if a woman literally becomes a man by changing 'her' name + physically in appearance via surgery/hormones/whatever she still won't get paid the same as a man because she still not viewed as a man: no gender rights. 8. Where's the healthcare when the US has the highest taxes in the world??? 9. Classist. 10. No regulated education. Literally there is no rules on teaching the students these days are learning absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as regulating education in the US anymore 11. The country is over 33 trillion dollars in debt..... It's never going to fix that.\n\nI could go on and on for another hundred reasons before I'd have to Google something else to add to the list but these are only a few of the reasons why any Canadian who knows anything about the US, would never willfully move south of the boarder. American people themselves, aside from a personality trait here or there are fine. Its the demon structure of the country that make America deplorable. Sorry.
