The international students were sold the easy PR dream. They will never admit it because they state on their visa application that they are going to return home after completing their studies. This lax immigration policies gave rise to all the shady colleges and diploma mills that you see today and we are now seeing the consequences of it which the locals have to suffer and the international students as well. What surprises me more is the students own lack of research in todays day and age of technology. Even the skilled immigration route like the Express Entry has no cap so that those streams can slow down once it's reached its cap for the year and IRCC can focus on the next set of skills that are in shortage in the country. There is so much redundancy in skill sets that actual areas where skills are needed is lacking today. It's a complete mess. The government has bottled it big time.

Canada and a couple of US states have a similar problem, they rely on a steady influx of wealthy and high earning people to keep their economies going. I'm thinking Florida and California, specifically.

Correction if you have a PAL you can own restricted firearms i.e. handguns in Canada. I think gun control doesnt help canadians because most criminals obtain them illegally from the US. The problem is not with immigrants, it is with the government's poor planning. The housing crisis began well before the recent uptick in immigration, and both major political parties are responsible for it. They under-invested in social housing and did not give enough tax incentives for developers to build new housing. They did this on purpose because the housing market was seen as the place where homeowners could build massive equity, and they did. For many years, Canadians were very pleased with this state of affairs. About a decade ago stories were running everywhere that the Canadian middle class was larger and wealthier than the American middle class. This was almost entirely due to the equity established in housing. But the prices just kept going up and up, there was not enough new housing built (on purpose, to maintain the value of Canadian real estate), and the economy needed new immigrants to fill thousands of jobs and to keep funding the health care system and other social benefits. So now we have a housing crunch, where even Canadians who own homes cannot sell them because they have nowhere to move to (everything around them is just as expensive), immigrants can't find housing, and the health care system is overloaded. It's a proper mess, but it's not as simple as saying the problem is with too many immigrants.

As a comparison, Australia is experiencing similar issues. Not surprising really, it is perhaps the nation state with the most similar geopolitical, socioeconomic and historical background to Canada. I would not be surprised if, as a percentage of population, Australia’s recent immigration would mirror that of Canada.

Indian government customer services across the board are mostly impolite and unprofessional and government workers treat customers especially other Indians with distain, like how dare you ask me or why this has not been done. Funny how they want to blame immigration. Jobs are everywhere but employers know that immigrants are more disciplined, hard working and appreciative of the opportunities provided, when compared to the average Canadian-born citizen. I’m surprised you never saw me. I’m homeless in a shelter and I hate this city.. well I hate all the cities like this. The people are heartless and sacred. The homeless are high and sad… I wander the streets like all day every day. When I have money I try to help the street people. Or I end up smoking weed on occasion. But there’s a lot of garbage and garbage people out there. I’m basically the rat king. I wander round doing anything I can. I’m pretty crazy tho I have bpd and doctors don’t really help anyone. I just live in the shelter and during the day I wander the streets trying to learn the city and help people. Sometimes I’m rude and angry and insane due to the state of the city and all I’ve seen. I yell and sing as I walk around just to hate everyone who is the average scumbag citizen. You know who I mean.. and I call them out on their bs. But only during my bpd episode or whatever. Otherwise I try to help all the street rats. But lots of them are helpless addicts like it’s hard to find the proper way to help. You gotta be careful who you help I suppose, because your good intentions of helping can lead to harming them. They end up buying drugs I guess sometimes. I am very easy to spot. I’m zooming down the streets. I usually walk so fast and everyone is so brainwashed brain dead slaves of society for real… they don’t care or help no one. I mean some do but it’s extremely rare…. The US averages more than 1 school shooting per DAY. Tyler, you may say depending on the area, but in 2023 only 1 state (Wyoming) didn't register a school shooting. How many times have we heard of a foreign professional reduced to driving a taxi or becoming a housewife when they move to Canada because an immigration official didn’t properly inform the immigrant of the hoops they would have to jump through, and the provincial professional association offered minimal, if any, assistance? \n\nThis PhD student (and others with more academic than lucrative educations) may think he’ll have it made moving to the US but I think he overestimates his value. The small liberal arts colleges that may have hired someone with his background are decreasing in number or changing to a more technical focus (usually to computer science because it doesn’t require expensive labs needed in medicine or engineering). American students are now more critically examining what degrees, if any at all, will lead to better paying careers, and I doubt Myanmar is on their radar as a money-making opportunity.
