Let me make a very serious distinction . Canada is not a monolithic country . The people on the West Coast - British Columbia are culturally very similar to those living in Washington State and Oregon - total left wing granola - flakes and nuts. Canada was always an enpensive place to live. However it spiked about 5 years ago and is now out of reach (economically) in the last 2 years.\nGovernment taxes! The increases are unprecedented at all three levels (federal, provincial and municipal).

Basically by using outrage politics terms as a campaign platform and cover, it enabled him to push bills through that enact authoritarian powers like China and Russia use to control speech, communication, news, and citizens themselves without limit, all while stopping investigations into the intense govt corruption scandals. We are tired of the state of country, our lack of freedom and democracy, our failing healthcare and healthcare facilities, laughable education system, lack of infrastructure for new comers and Canadians alike. We're done with a country that I pay taxes too, believed in, it's not my fault that I have to leave, it's CANADA and decades of bad policies, investing in wars instead of our home and people. Trudeau spent more time demonizing anti-vaxxers and truckers and funding Ukraine rather then helping starving Palestinians and Congolese people, families struggling here locally to feed their family, kids are who aren't getting a proper education, elderly unable to pay for their medicine or food. We are all suffering because no one in our govt wants to actually help our country get back on track. So our govt is essentially pushing us OUT. We don't want to leave, we have no choice.

Canada has become an exclusive club for people who want to own a home or own real estate. Supply side issues but open immigration has made it a real estate haven for investors from all over the world. Black money or not, you can easily bring drug or money laundering, or other dishonest (a.k.a haram) money into Canada, and law enforcement is asleep at the wheel. Canada needs to be more like the US in order to make this country work in the long run. The prince of Nigeria and his relatives would like to buy real estate in Canada? Of course, its a no brainer!

Housing prices are so crazy that I just rent a room and six months per year go live in developing countries of Asia. My income in Canada is only 25K as a single retired person. No home. No car. No partner or family responsibilities. No job. Cook at home only. No alsohol or drugs.\n\nSo, there are solutions. GIS and living out of a suitcase. But I still think that spending $850 per month (33% of my income) is too high.\n\nBut besides money matters, I feel like a stranger in Canada as an old straight white man. Wokeness is extreme here.
