I have been to few foreign countries....but it is like a business trip.....we do not get househelp...rather unaffordable....whole day we are working working office work kitchen work...look after kids...\n..weekend grocery cleaning backyard cannot visit anyone at random like in India...India is best..lot of food...festivals...relatives househelp ...phone and things are at home .....etc.

In the whole story, the 90% struggle seems to be from the wife.. doing bachelor's, masters, raising kids, giving ielts, extra tests etc all was done by the wife and husband was doing nothing other than making poor decisions. We have relatives who were in the same situation as accountants and they showed flexibility and moved to suburb and now have permanent residence. Also after coming to Canada they have not started any proper job rather living on child benefits and exploiting the system.

Canadian here. No way in fking hell would i even visit. Women have no rights, minorities are treated like crap, the whole trans/gay phobia thing, health care, guns, stupid politics, just no. Would literally move almost anywhere else first.

As a Canadian on Vancouver island. I can attest that when you want a peaceful slower more nature filled life. Dont go to the Montreals or Vancouvers, go to your Williams Lake. 100 Mile House. Or the whole Okanagan area for straight beauty ( These are all in B.C. Cause thats my province )

I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. I’m glad you decided to take a look at this, and see our reactions to the questions. And I’m glad you didn’t take offence to the harsh or bitter answers. Sure Canada isn’t perfect, but it’s better in enough ways to keep me much preferring staying here.

Québécoise here. We Canadians seem to forget that there is as much racism in Canada as in the US. We just like to hide it behind a smile for some reason… I’ve lived in northern Michigan for 4years when I was in high school and college. I preferred the kids in the US over the kids in Switzerland by a lot! But I admit that shooting exercises in school were very weird. A lot of kids were dying in car crashes too… \nAlso, as someone with French as first language, that was pretty horrible catching up. I attended summer class with a bunch of kindergarten, and the teacher told in front of the whole class how me and my siblings were so bad at English even though we were teens. Well I’m sorry I can only write a college level paper in French but not in English yet! Thanks for belittling us in front of toddlers when we’re trying very hard to catch up before actual classes start! I was thrown into English Senior classes during second semester and did pretty well thank you very much! Went onto creative writing in college. Someone told me they though I was mentally retarded until I told them French was my first language…

Curious as to why you immediately bailed on the whole issue of vanishing rights for women in the US? I can't even imagine being a woman of child bearing age or the mother of a daughter who could end up with an unwanted pregnancy. I would be leaving ASAP. It boggles my mind the way the US is rapidly backsliding into the early 1800's when it comes to the rights of anyone other than a white straight middle class or wealthier man. I crossed the border into Buffalo ALOT growing up and I gotta say, you remind me of the proverbial frog in boiling water. Your country has changed, to the point where my family never bothered to get nexus passes or passports to cross over when those were requirements. My sister got hers to travel to Japan... still has not crossed over. The things we used to go to do there are still there but the whole vibe, experience and culture has shifted so much it feels like a totally different country from 30... even 15 years ago. Do I want to travels to the states? Sure but most of the people need to leave first.

When I was young, late 50's early 60's, I was jealous of people living in the US. We'd go to my Dad's professional conferences in various areas and everyone seemed to drive such expensive cars and live in such big houses. Now I know that's just window dressing. You have to look at what's underneath. I didnt see the poverty and the racism. Canada unfortunately has people who would like to take Canada down the same road as the US. We have good medical care, a social net, respect human and reproductive rights, attempt to keep religion out of politics, gun control (a pro hunter here!) , fair school funding (the whole province, not just district), and the list could go on. Is it perfect? No but its a whole lot better than the US. We Canucks just need to keep fighting for improvements and it isnt an American model for most of them. \nWe had always planned to take holidays and see various parts of the US. No more. The lack of gun laws is really scary, especially when combined with hate. We're not timid travellers. \n\nMove there... maybe California .

So as a Canadian, you don’t quite have the perspective that we do from up here, the batshit-crazy political mess is from coast to coast, everywhere I’ve seen from the US, from local politics up through to federal politics they all skew to support crony capitalism (by comparison), accept religious Christian (or Mormon) fundamentalism, and generally are extremely undemocratic by comparison to what we are used to here in Canada. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have our faults, but it’s everywhere in the US and a whole order of magnitude or more. Up here it’s bad enough we have to deal with the blowback and seepage of some of these bat-shit crazy views like the anti-abortion issue , extreme gun rights, science denialism, and anti-LGBTQ2+ nut jobs.

I had a friend whos family split up and all 4 children and their mom ended up down in Philadelphia somewhere (some cult/religious thing she got into that started the whole divorce ect) and they would come back to Canada for visits. When he would explain going to school, having to walk through metal detectors on the way in, guarded by cops with SMG's I just couldn't fathom what he was talking about or why it would be needed. Luckily I managed to convince him to stay one time when he came and visited and still lives here. Personally I'm considering moving with how hostile my government here in Canada has become to anything oil/gas/nuclear/fertilizer. My trade (Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is being reduced to shut down work only and I have some family down in Texas and its pushing me more and more to start looking elsewhere for work. However I'm single, if I had a family there would be no way id leave. As good of healthcare you have down there (way better than most if not all of Canada in relation to wait times and expertise), one long illness or something and they drop your health care? Your screwed. Plain and simple.

No way. One thing people failed to mention is how often citizen's voting rights are suppressed. The whole system is politicized, gerrymandering is real. \n\nNot to mention the politics in the judicial system that extends all the way to the Supreme Court. The fact that key instigators of the Jan 6th failed coup are still walking free and one is even able to run for president is extremely disturbing. \n\nAs much as I hate the current government here and know how little my region's votes count I have at the least some comfort knowing we have an impartial overseer of the election process. \n\nDown south they are one election away from a 1984 situation. If Big Brother doesn't like what you do in the privacy of your own home expect the state to intervene.

Americans have become so desensitized from their own violence in their society they don't see the whole picture anymore tell it happens to them and their loved ones. They have a problem of ignoring a issue tell it hits them in the face tell it hurts them.

We do have problems but we deal with them differently. The historical treatment of the Native peoples, was bad you must understand that history for us comes upto and includes the present day and the future, That is how we are moving on, in Canada nothing is written in stone and everything is on the table, with that spirit we are moving on and negotiating in good faith. The USA does not seem to have the same philosophy and unless you make peace we your Native peoples your country will never be whole.

One of the key issues when you ask a Canadian about moving to the USA is that they won't be thinking of a specific city, they will think of the country as a whole. The only real reason for a Canadian to move to the USA is economic opportunity. Most of the other benefits of being American we enjoy as Canadians as well, or we can take a quick trip to the USA to enjoy.

I would of moved to the U.S. prior to Ronald Reagan. Since then it seems like money goes to the rich, who profit by sending it out of the country. The wealth and value for American workers has gone down drastically ever since. And everyone is bitter about it, so now they're taking it out on each other over minor stupid shit. This whole find a place that's okay feels so much like burying your head in the sand. It's sad that Americans would be more informed on reality if all sources of their media ceased to exist.

My Grandfather was 5 years at war he was shot twice jumping in a fox hole. That is the year the American finally joined WWII and brag about how the American won the war. He hated America so growing up I never knew anyone. I started class at Second City Chicago last year. Maybe you guys aren't so bad. ? I live on Vancouver Island. It is 270 miles long and our whole island population is 875, 000. So ocean view. Hospital that doesn't charge. And while I do have hunting rifles and a shotgun. I had to take 3 written tests and 2 practical exams to have them. As well my license is criminal record checked every 24 hours. I would not move anywhere my grandchildren are doing active shooter drills.

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

As (I am assuming) a straight, cis white guy, you maybe are not seeing the racism and other kinds of bigotry people experience. Also there were 51 school shootings in the US last year, dude, that's like 1 per week. Do you think they all happen in big cities? They don't. You have had 201 deaths in school shootings since Columbine in 1999. We have had 10 school shooting deaths in that same time period, and only 1 more than that in our whole history. Maybe Canadians are more concerned about gun violence than Tyler feels they need to be, BUT HERE IS WHY! \n\nAccording to USA today and Forbes magazine there have been more than 300 mass shootings so far this year and 200 people were shot on the 4th of July alone. These articles are dated July, 2023. A mass shooting was defined as 4 or more people killed or injured. There is a bbc article from May 2023 that states 48,830 people died of gun violence in 2021 in the US; that’s the population of a small city in Canada. Half those deaths were suicides, which occur because the guns are available. All of these articles mention the shear number of guns in the US, more guns than people, 120 guns per 100 people. So yes, I think Tyler is exhibiting his American bias and has become desensitized. His statements that it’s only in some places and to choose carefully where you live because violence isn’t every where are not borne out by the stats. These shootings happen in all corners of the country and every time they do people are shocked that it could happen in their safe little town. Think back to Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde these were not violent communities yet their schools were targeted. \n\nThe gun culture is high on the list of reasons I wouldn’t move to the US but do is politics, women’s rights, anti 2SLGBTQ legislation, health care, environmental protection laws ( or lack there of), lack of social programs, etc. Canada certainly isn’t perfect but I’ll take it warts and all over a US option. I am so thankful I was born in Canada. My daughter has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and all her treatments are free, some of the meds are free and others are signifantly reduced in price. I think America will get universal medical coverage at some point but those gun laws are nuts!!! Just two of the major reasons why I, along with most Canadians, really are anxious about visiting, nevermind moving, to the US. Sorry, don't mean to disparage your country but Canada is a better place to live on the whole.

hello, Canadian here. i believe that ( personally ) if Canada had the same freedom for weapons as the USA, things wouldn't go as bad as the USA. or wouldn't change at all. the main problem, which americans at large still refuses to admit it seems, or at least the loudest ones, is that it's a culture problem, not a gun problem. the whole of USA culturally is kinda rotten with way more chances for someone to just crack and go nuts, or commit a shitty act out of desperation, anything. while in Canada, we have people and gorups to help take care of this. we do not bankrupt people by making them seek help at hospital, and so on. the whole socio-economic of the USA is to blame for this. \n\nin my humble, basement dwelling person opinion as someone who thought about this subject for a while.

Not the Dwight D Eisenhower interstate system before auto lobbies rallied against the development of a national commuter rail system, giving the rails to 4 big companies that refuse to allow passenger cars on their rails without massive fees because freight has a higher profit margin. And certainly not pension funds before they were dissolved in favor of the 401k, and the social security politicians are constantly working to cut while ever increasing the retirement age past what most people will never live to now that 45% of our water is tainted with PFOAs that will have everyone born today die of liver cancer before the age of 65.\n\nIt was CAPITALISM that made this country! The same capitalism that claws back every penny it can from working class people. America was great DESPITE capitalism. UNDERSTAND THAT.

I have obtained the visit Visa and will be coming alone to Canada in couple of months. Need clarity on few issues. \nI will be bringing expenses money for 6 months, more funds will be arranged if required. My target provinces are Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick. I am confident that I will secure a LMIA approved job in HR and hence a legit Work permit. \nCan the work permit holder invite his spouse and children ? \nDoes the whole family have free education and health care? \nBut one must have alternate solution. If I don’t get a job in my occupation, I will be forced to work as a farmer or a laborer or any other low skilled occupation and get a work permit for that job. My technical question is once I have worked as a farmer/laborer for a year, I will have to apply for the PR under PNP. Will my 1 year work experience as a farmer/laborer have a negative impact, since my qualification is in business Management (HR) ?

Listen... I'm all for helping out fellow human beings but it seems this person was blocking her way which you can see, and she explains that this isn't the first time he's done that! The fact he spoke to her in Indian just shows he is not culturally appropriated to our language or even laws for that matter! The sad thing is all those people want is a good life, every Mexican I have ever met has been an extremely hard worker, and here in the U.S they work for a lot less then others, I know plenty of guys who laid off their whole crew, and rehired all Mexican guys cuz they work harder, faster, and they don't complain and act spoiled like the American guys....\nSad but true......
