If the system back in our African countries work, it will be the same as it in Canada. Even in south India esp Hyderabad, lot of students go to usa with debt facing problems, all paperwork done by shady consultancies. My friendly suggestion once undergrad done in india , get a job & work experience at least 2 years in india so you know the work environment. Don’t rush to go abroad. Take your time. Why is this happening you say. I can tell you probably what I think why this is happening and that is our president's open boarder policy. So all these people are trying to enter the United States with just the clothes on their backs. They want the American dream. Do they realize in order to have the American dream you have to work for it. I'm pretty sure it's going to be very hard for them to survive. They probably don't speak English. These things alone are a recipe for disaster. Our crim rate is going to astronomically increase due to the fact they have to work and last time I checked you have to be an American citizen to work here. We got folks in Texas, American born, that gotta forge check stubs just to get an apartment. It's not easy living over here. This is why I'm very adamant on my dreams to work in the US. I'm a US citizen because I was born there when my dad went to school for his doctorate degree. I feel very lucky to have that, and that is why I have a dream to live and work there. I know applying for a residence and work permit is a very difficult process to do. I would feel very stupid not to take this chance to live and work in the US.\nAfter a few setbacks of me not being able to go to college there (my parents wouldn't let me because they're not sure of letting me living alone there even though we have a relative there), my parents finally let me go there for work. I just now finished my masters degree, I hope I can make it there as well.

I’m not sure about the rest of the country but in Quebec you can’t just go from School to permanent residency. You need to apply for a work visa first and only then can you apply for permanent resident, acceptances take upwards of a year and that’s if it’s a single person. If you have a family or even a spouse more paperwork so it takes longer, I know a few people some who are single and got accepted and families. I know someone who’s been here for years and has extended his work visa because the permanent residency is taking so long because he has a wife and child. Afterwards you need to remain in Canada for like 3yrs before you can apply for citizenship.

As happy as I am for him and all those who work hard to get somewhere they definitely deserve there success! However dont ruin it for others as well! Prices in US are much lower than Canada even though there population is 10x than here! Desi people have ruined it everywhere they go!

I have travelled to the US often for work for close to 25 years, visiting client sites. While I live in Canada, I had witnessed so many experiences and differences that it became impossible to consider a move there. There are obvious tax advantages (most states, though not all, combined with fed taxes have a lower tax rate, as well as write off benefits of owning a house). Racism is a problem here too, towards black people (among others) and including violence and systemic racism towards our indigenous population (e.g. police and healthcare), but the level of systemic and societal racism in the US towards black people is difficult to comprehend.\n\nIn my work experience in the US over the years, my team was in Utah at the time of a mass shooting in the mall that we'd typically go for dinner. An employee at the company shot and killed his wife in the church parking lot. I believe the US will outstrip Canada (which is only in the middle of the pack of developed countries) in service for cost in about 10 years.

This is why if your goal is to eventually work in the US as a skilled tech worker, your best bet is to move to Canada first and then go work in the US on a TN status. Not entirely accurate. It's pro-wealthy immigration here in Canada absolutely. It's citizenship for sale. Not necessarily wealthy in terms of really wealthy (like Switzerland) but it's definitely citizenship for sale, so if you don't have money, don't bother. Newcomers with medical and engineering expertise can't get jobs here in Canada, in spite of our healthcare system being on the point of collapse and our supposed hi-tech push. Regulatory boards here have made it impossible. Estimates are around 175000 qualified, internationally trained doctors and nurses who gave up trying to practice here and moved into other careers. Ukrainian doctors, for eg, with extensive trauma experience and willing to staff our emergency departments have been told they have to requalify by going to Canadian medical school to retrain for at least 4 years. Same story in engineering. By IT, our government seems to mean low-paid call center IT work, moving the IT sweatshop racket from India onto Canadian soil. If you can afford to buy a business - I believe the total business investment was 500 000 pre-pandemic - that's another way in. Not sure if thats gone up now. So many of our franchise businesses are essentially being used as citizenship tickets. The big ticket item: If you can afford 4 years of postgraduate or undergrad university program, or 3 to 4 year college program - and if you don't have the cash, loan sharks in India will distribute debt across the whole family for decades so one student can go . There us a very good documentary by an Indian filmmaker on the Canadian college/University recruitment drive in India and its consequences. Several of our colleges have student enrollments at over 70% of the entire student body, direct entry from India. Additional problems like grade inflation, different education standards, and outright fraud on ESL testing also mean that Indian students are not well prepared for school here. Many do not have enough English to succeed in their studies. They either need to spend for additional tutoring, take a qualifying year or two ESL (on top of the 3 or 4 program), or fail courses. Universities and colleges keep the tuition though. Honestly our colleges and universities are staying afloat because of Indian students. They're being treated like cash cows - and Indian recruiters are scamming the system, taking fees on their end with unsuspecting students getting falsified documents, or being told they passed their ESL when they didn't. It's a national disgrace. I'm a prof here, I've seen all of this firsthand. Your data may be correct, but the narrative you've constructed for it is not the real picture.

My friends are working in science field and have been in US for more than 6 years but still don't know their futures. If anyone wants a stable future, don't go there. Its really not worth it even if there's good money. Other countries are friendlier and have better social facilities.

The main problem IMHO is that H-1B was never meant to begin working after having studied. The reason employer HAVE to go this route is because an Employment based greencard with the PERM DoL approval, the I-140 employer petition and the I-485 takes 2-4 years + plus endless wait due to country quotes for India and China. In the 1980ies and 1990ies that took 3-6 months and you began the process while you were still at university but found an employer ready and willing to employ you.\nThat has always been the standard way to live in the US via employment.\n\nFor Sanjay - if he gets an employer petition I-140 - has one hope though - there is a change in the pipeline to give Employment Authorization (the red cards) upon approved I-140 and filed I-485 even before the priority date. Fingers crossed.

I am a Canadian citizen who worked in the US. Please stop blindly extolling Canada for accepting more immigrants. There is nothing inherently good or bad about immigration. It is a simply a socioeconomic policy decision that every country needs to make for itself, for the benefit of its EXISTING citizens. I’m not going to blindly applaud any country, including my own, just because it welcomed xyz immigrants.

House prices have increased because of businesses and law firms investing in the housing market. Ask your landlord who owns the house. They knew the market trend with the immigrants surging in. Brain drain comes from companies in Canada hiring immigrants with education, and accept lower wages. Americans work harder because they get paid more and know most of it does not go to tax.
