okay, can your religion bend some rules here. how and why you think strangers shouldn't dhund that hazardous?

Follow the rules of country in which you live

Why would anyone bring something like that to a public place or school. Your religion and culture is yours personal, but the security rules are for everyone.

As a Indian people say kirpan a knife or weapon. what about other religion ? As per a Muslim hijab it's not so necessary to wears it all time but in Sikh religion who practices a Amrit dhari are necessary to carry a kirpan and a kirpan not longer than 4 or 6 inches as per American rules ?

I am from India and I never seen my b Sikh friends roaming everywhere with a kirpan . If your in another country respect their culture and rules . Don’t try to show off. The cop was right . He was roaming with a dangerous weapon.

I think you should be allowed to carry a weapon on campus, BUT rules are rules. Religion should not give you special privileges to break rules.

Don't leave your territory your country. It's right in context to other countries. If you go to different nation it's their rules their land. For example Muslim nations don't allow other religions and practices in their territory while they do all they want in different countries. You can't have a citizenship in middle eastern countries and half of the middle eastern people are American now. Rules are equal for all, don't get offended though.

keep your relogious belief at your home state ..even in india they should nt be alllowed to carry this in public outside their home state. nobody can guarantee the mental state of a human.recently a video went viral where a sikh guy who was a goon publicy stabbed a person over a verbal fight. well done by police and there was no need for apology by college. a country or state should run by their own rules and culture .

I am an Indian and even I will not support this. Religion should be followed in homes and not in institutions like colleges. The educational institution can have its own rules. Incidents of rage can happen at any time and can not be predicted.

With due respect for everyone's religious sentiments, I think creating exception here and there is fine as long as it does not violate safety related rules. Naamdhari sikhs should think of ways to carry their religious identity within the ambit of evolving social norms and rules.

I have worked for almost five years in a reputed lab in Panjab, India. Trust me; no one brought any weapons to the lab in the name of religion. When we live in an organization, we need to follow their rule, even in India.

So I work for the prison service in the UK. Our Sikh chaplain wears a knife as part of his religion. Except, the blade is make from rubber and has no sharp edge to it.\n\nWhy not do this?? I don't want to say any word on this stupidity ? one question ,, school and college are for education there is one specific dress code for all children, and everyone should follow the rules of schl and clg,so why we involve our religion as a hindu I oppose this?pls stop this nonsense, if this is right so why we are against the hijab in indian school and clg ?? If all religions start following their culture and rituals in colleges then from tomorrow a hindu will start wearing dhoti kurta,sari, rudarkhs, mushlim will wear hijab, kurta lungi ??so pls stop this nonsense ???

I know I might seem like an asshole but,\nWith so many school shooting going on, i think this type of reaction with somebody carrying a weapon is normal and should be encouraged. There is a rule prohibiting sharp objects and still this young man brought his kirpan, I think formal permission should have been taken by him. Completely valid response and hope the institution and religion have some sort of agreement and sort this out in a mutually beneficial way.
