Why are we promising this to immigrants and we cant deliver to actual taxayers. I can't believe we are doing this. Stop this major influx and take care of Canadians and then w ecan help selected immigrants to fill gaps where needed.

The problem is not with immigrants, it is with the government's poor planning. The housing crisis began well before the recent uptick in immigration, and both major political parties are responsible for it. They under-invested in social housing and did not give enough tax incentives for developers to build new housing. They did this on purpose because the housing market was seen as the place where homeowners could build massive equity, and they did. For many years, Canadians were very pleased with this state of affairs. About a decade ago stories were running everywhere that the Canadian middle class was larger and wealthier than the American middle class. This was almost entirely due to the equity established in housing. But the prices just kept going up and up, there was not enough new housing built (on purpose, to maintain the value of Canadian real estate), and the economy needed new immigrants to fill thousands of jobs and to keep funding the health care system and other social benefits. So now we have a housing crunch, where even Canadians who own homes cannot sell them because they have nowhere to move to (everything around them is just as expensive), immigrants can't find housing, and the health care system is overloaded. It's a proper mess, but it's not as simple as saying the problem is with too many immigrants.

Immigration helps oligarchs and the immigrants. \nIt devalues the working poor, middle class wages and inflates the cost of rent, housing, cost of living. \nIt is clearly unpopular, 'liberal democracy' refuses to relent on this issue because it benefits oligarchical interests. \nThe oligarchs and their paid for agents don't care about consent of the governed and instead pathologize dissent as an abstract hatred.

I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. I’ve heard some disgusting vitriol from both sides, honestly. Both sides have and are behaving like animals. Infact animals are more civil, as their disputes are settled in a more humane manner, without the casualties within their communities. Yet, despite being created in God’s image with the ability of sophisticated communication, both sides are unable to get past their own hurt pride, at least for the sake of the innocent lives that have and continue to be lost on BOTH sides, to finally squash this matter once and for all.\n\nGrowing up I had a cousin . We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. In the meantime i should really refrain from ranting on YouTube.

I clicked on this expecting some right-wing Trudeau-bashing, and I was pleased to see it’s actually a fairly objective, non-partisan discussion. \n\nOne thing it doesn’t mention, though, is that conservative provincial governments in Canada are sitting on $70 billion in health care funding supplied by the federal government. They are deliberately allowing their health care systems to deteriorate. They have done the same with federal housing funding, to the point where the federal government is now making deals directly with cities to supply new housing. \n\nAnd, those rising housing prices, for better or worse, have made a lot of Canadian homeowners and landlords very wealthy. THEY certainly don’t want to see housing get more affordable.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. You can't just say we want to help and not give one thought about implications whatsoever. \n\nWhere I live you can't add thousands of people without thinking about making roards wider or more busses.\n\nWe don't look like idiots, we are. Let's welcome a host of new beautiful people into out country and not have a single plan in place besides pay for their housing (not necessarily bad), pay for their transportation (not necessarily bad), and allow a rent bubble to put our welcoming citizens with Trades to live in tents.\n\nHow about this as a sane alternative, the billions of dollars in road tax from gas prices which hasn't improved the roads, and the billions from legalized gambling...how about we audit our government and take a hard and difficult look as to where all this tax money goes, and more importantly the detailed justification? \n\nSame thing, same day. Canada has to be corrupt as the day is long OR our greatness was built on an history of lies. Take your pick.\n\nLet's hire as a people a 3rd party professional firm with oversight and give them 5 billion dollars, the amount we paid for helicopters and opted out for and still paid by backing out.\n\nThat thought alone should be brilliant enough to enlighten us all.

I am a French Canadian born here, and I want to move out of this country. Everything about this country’s culture, education, health care, crime, agriculture, economy, literally everything is unrecognizable, and it’s happened all in like 8 years. Every single thing my grandfather fought for in WW2 is gone.

I’m surprised you never saw me. I’m homeless in a shelter and I hate this city.. well I hate all the cities like this. The people are heartless and sacred. The homeless are high and sad… I wander the streets like all day every day. When I have money I try to help the street people. Or I end up smoking weed on occasion. But there’s a lot of garbage and garbage people out there. I’m basically the rat king. I wander round doing anything I can. I’m pretty crazy tho I have bpd and doctors don’t really help anyone. I just live in the shelter and during the day I wander the streets trying to learn the city and help people. Sometimes I’m rude and angry and insane due to the state of the city and all I’ve seen. I yell and sing as I walk around just to hate everyone who is the average scumbag citizen. You know who I mean.. and I call them out on their bs. But only during my bpd episode or whatever. Otherwise I try to help all the street rats. But lots of them are helpless addicts like it’s hard to find the proper way to help. You gotta be careful who you help I suppose, because your good intentions of helping can lead to harming them. They end up buying drugs I guess sometimes. I am very easy to spot. I’m zooming down the streets. I usually walk so fast and everyone is so brainwashed brain dead slaves of society for real… they don’t care or help no one. I mean some do but it’s extremely rare…. I’ve probably walked literally everywhere you were. That park on Jarvis. I see those security guards lol they were dicks to you and definitely lied about not being on camera. I see them like almost every day. And all the other places. I slept outside a few times not often. I’ve been to all these spots I walk by them all the time it was crazy to see it all. The homeless problem has become way worse over the years. Canada has become way too expensive to live with the outrageous prices in rent, heat, hydro, food, property taxes it’s bloody outrageous. Ppl loose their jobs and find they can’t afford to pay their rents and mortgages along with all the other bills if they can’t find another job right away. And companies are to hire minority over white ppl. A white male in Ontario, forget about it. White ppl have become minority now in the work force. Absolutely the cost of living has caused the homeless problem to sky rocket. As far as the system it’s true that the system takes care of foreigners first over Canadians. I remember many years ago I tried to get student assistance to take courses and I was rejected because I lived with a parent, the person on the other end of the phone told me strait out if I was a foreigner I’d of gotten the assistance, and this was way before Trudeau was in the picture!!!

I would disagree with the cost of groceries. I still think it's quite reasonable here. House is outrageous though. I wouldn't say that health care is bad but it's not great. You'll have to wait for chronic issue but for immediate help we do oretty well. I'd ask to look at the life expectancy and death rate to prove otherwise. A big problem is a lack of good paying jobs.

The shelters for single men in Toronto are terrible, for the most part. The majority of people don’t understand the plight of the homeless and blame them for the situation they are in! It’s a judgement made out of ignorance of people, who are so far removed from their reality.\n\nIt’s not just bad in Toronto … other cities are facing the same problem. What’s causing this? I strongly feel it’s how the governments (all three levels) are running things … they’re inept! There is no excuse for this … it’s mismanagement/misappropriation of tax payers money! And they’re sending. Ill ions of dollars outside of the country. Well charity should begin at home … take care of your citizens before you start giving money outside of the country! I tried living in an apartment. My SO and I work swing shifts at a hospital.\nThey were coming in monthly for this and that or fire alarms. They did not care if one of us needed to work 7-7 all night. \nWe would sooner live in an RV than try that again...
