There is supposedly an agreement between Canada and the US called the Safe Third Country Agreement which means illegal immigrants are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country they come to. Unfortunately, because of Trump, the Canadian government doesn't trust any US government to give these asylum seekers a fair hearing. Second, this agreement only applies to official border crossings, not unofficial ones like Roxham Road. Trudeau is absolutely right in wanting to renegotiate the Safe Third Country Agreement.

I didn't have any issues finding a doctor. And let me tell you more: I had a special requirement of having a Doctor who could speak Portuguese because of my wife, as she couldn't speak english at the time. I found a first doctor with absolutely no issues. In fact, after a couple of months I didn't like him very much, so we went ahead and found another one very quickly as well... Maybe I'm lucky.

I have compassion for these people fleeing hardship and brutal conditions in their countries, but Canada is a nation of laws and borders and if you cross the border illegally into Canada, you should and will be prosecuted for violating our immigration laws. A sovereign nation, such as Canada, has a right to protect, defend, and secure its own borders. It's just common sense. Prime Minister Trudeau must make this message absolutely clear.

there's no point,,these issues are the same in all those better countries we normally refer to as foreign countries for immigrants. its nothing strange. The same in EUROPE like GERMANY, FRANCE, U.K and SOME part of US. No where is a haven. You can explore but no where is absolute. These factors affect everywhere one way or the other.

It's like the police think that telling them that they're going to get arrested is going to stop them. Some of these people are coming from war-torn countries and have absolutely nothing left. So I would imagine being arrested and being put into a warm cozy cell until stuff gets figured out is a sacrifice they are willing to deal with.

We just assume they are americans because they sound just like us. True historical fact for you guys: after the revolution, the American one that is, Benjamin Franklin, wanted to annex Canada as part of the United States, but the British turned it down. otherwise, you would have been Americans.

Truly, doctors in the US can earn a lot more, but they also have to spend a lot of that on legal indemnity insurance because the US is the home of spurious litigation. The availability of doctors in Canada being damaged by the attraction of the USA is just part of a global phenomenon - professionally-qualified people will go wherever the money is best, so less-developed nations lose medical staff to richer nations. I don't know where the figures in that table came from, but I bet that there are some shenanigans behind them. The loudest voices behind the begging bowl tend to be the most socialistic. It's all a big mess - the lack of transparency does not help the case for high-taxing Governments.\n\n\nLastly, considering the current governing dynasty in Canada, I could never live there. Trudeau is a nightmare totalitarian. The events of 2020+ showed some national leaders in a revealing light. Canada and New Zealand are now two countries I could never consider living in. Hell no I will stay in America. I live in New Jersey 10 minutes from nyc any kind of food you want is available at close proximity and the women are absolutely gorgeous. Not gonna lie. There are some frumpy ones, but I will keep capitalism you can keep Socialism.

I’m a Brit who had just returned from a holiday in Mexico. My hotel TEAMING with Americans and Canadians and the difference between them both was IMMENSE! Now I’m not saying this about all Americans at all. Just the majority that were at my hotel. Man those people were rude. Rude, Arrogant, entitled, obnoxious and loud. The way they spoke to staff, other guests and locals was awful. No manners, clicking their fingers, cutting lines, being aggressive, blaming others for their lack of understanding. Men stomping around being rude about other peoples nationalities. Chanting and being very egotistical. I’ve never experienced anything like it.\nThe Canadians though. The absolute polar opposite. So polite, so kind, so respectful, so friendly. I spoke to so many about life and experiences and all were just lovely. Obviously I know that not all Americans are that way, nor are all Canadians lovely. The difference I saw in those 10days day was huge. I’d much rather go to Canada than America now.

I lived in Newark nj and worked and shopped in Newark nj..Only had to take 1 or 2 buses..But then I moved to Hershey pa! The culture was different,the vibe was different and the people was so DAMN FRIENDLY.. I lived in pa and Georgia,they hated me because I had that NJ “attitude” that they say..But the areas I was at had absolutely no transportation!! That part of pa and Georgia I was stranded..
