In vancouver in the 90s icbc busted my local licence issuer for selling drivers licences to chinese. Now taxi drivers from india sell their licences and job to another guy coming in while they go back. Saves time and money. Thats just good capitalism.

This is a good reporting job, but the lack of severity of punishment by the government is notable: he made $10,000,000, but was fined $900,000 with 2 years in jail. If this really the only consequence he faced - we're asking for more problems of this kind.

lazy is a good word! I know what my brother went through in order to immigrate to Australia many years ago. You have to have a clear record, no criminal convictions, paid all your taxes, qualified with the correct credentials they required, eg. IT expert, mechanics, Doctors etc., have sufficient money to live for 6 months, and or a job waiting for you, and sufficient savings. His family ahd to wait 6 months to join him whilst he established a home and job. Possibly these are people either hoping for welfare and freebies, or running from the law? Yet Canada lets in numerous Indians from Information Technology or Call Centre backgrounds. Well, I am not going to generalize all people in the same category. There are good and bad people everywhere in the world but being first generation immigrant in Canada is really hard in every part of life. First, even you are fluent in English you will have an accent that makes big difference in your job hunting, making friends and get along with different people. Many times, I have been treated on the basis of how I look and on the basis of my accent.

I do appreciate what was said in the show but there other types of discrimination by employers, landlords, stores. It can be how you dress, how you wear your hair, what colour your hair is, if you have tats. For employers, your medical history: I was refused a job at a bank because my grandfather was epileptic and it was thought that I might have the problem. When looking for an apartment or house it really all depends on the owners frame of mind on that particular day, not your references. So it is invasive in all of our lives. Human nature is not all good.
