Labour shortage? ? we have enough homeless people without jobs already. Canadians do not want to be exploited with cheap labour thats the problem. Pay canadians according to our economy and there will not be so many homeless people and more of these jobs will be filled. The government makes it an excuse to keep bombarding canada with more migrants as to keep the employers from having to pay more and keep labour as low as possible. Of course a new immigrant is going to do whatever job they can get, because they do not know the Canadian economy. You see houses with 15 people in a 3 bedroom apartment, 25 people in a house. I always wondered why certain houses had 6+ cars and I kept seeing multiple faces.

It's become a nightmare here not just for young people but everyone looking for work. These huge line-ups are not even new. For those who remember when Target opened stores here in Ontario and the massive line-ups for those minimum wage part-time jobs! It was insane. This has been going on for over a decade now. But it's even worse than people realize. They neglect to mention that female students at places like U of T turn to prostitution to survive. Not just a few, a significant percentage! There are entire websites devoted to students looking to prostitute themselves to pay rent and tuition! Wake up people! If government wants to get rich off of people, get our pay higher, don't just shovel more into the fire.

Before Canadian create a standard for foreign people want to migrate to Canada in terms of point system which involves education and other criteria in order to process application but now people are bypassing the system to easily come to Canada it took me 3 years before my application got processed why now just on student status can start apply for a job isn’t it the main purpose was to get education not job for Canadians. Who really fuck up on allowing this people come to Canada and mostly from India????

It's a double edged sword. The industry (fast food, food retailing, services) WANT those people, be it international students, refugees or other to work because there is insufficient response from the local population of young people. Even certain restaurants and hotels had to remain CLOSED after the pandemic, because they could not find enough people to work. The government covid money dissuaded the local population from working. It is a huge mistake to admit so many Indian students attending low-credentialed private colleges and then allow them to work 20-30 hours a week. Trudeau and Miller are to blame for this. But at the same time, there was a labour shortage due to the ageging population and the fact that people have fewer kids today. Canada should give greater priority to trained professionals in areas where there is a need, such as construction, education and nursing. People in India, China, eastern Europe and other countries can get very good training in technical colleges, but it is the wealthy families in these countries that don't want their kids working these jobs.

Most of the people want to live in major metropolitan areas. They are expensive since i came to canada 20 years ago. Now they are higher. I moved to east cost cheaper and better live.

Basically Canada should offer three choices for immigrants:\n\n1) bring in enough money with you to enjoy a good life\n\n2)work hard after arriving to make enough money and enjoy a good life\n\n3) leave Canada if you don’t have money and don’t want to work hard for a good life.\n\nNo one should be entitled to a good life, especially when they just arrived. the last thing we need is to pay for people to immigrate and stay here. I met some of these people in Thailand after COVID. There was a small group of Chinese who kept to themselves at our hostel. One day I overheard them in Chinese repeatedly talking about my country Mexico which got me to talk with them. They were quite happy to learn I could speak Chinese but more excited to learn I was from Mexico. They started asking me a bunch of questions about crossing the border into the US to which I bluntly told them I had no idea about and discouraged it. I asked where they got these crazy ideas from and they said that people were posting videos and tutorials of how to cross into the US online. The Chinese government hard handed approach to COVID was what made them leave. They wanted to go both for the freedom and economic benefits but they had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the US. They saw the high wages US workers were making but had no idea as to the incredibly high living costs associated with living there. I tried explaining that there was a housing shortage and that their expectations for life in the US would set them for disappointment but they either didn't believe me or brushed off my criticism. I also tried encouraging them to go to German or Australia instead (places which I feel would be better and easier for them to enter) but they seemed dead set on just going to the US. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now as Wechat is blindly and constantly blocking and deleting accounts in SE Asia without reason......................

Yeah it's not just immigrants it's also born here Canadians. No party in Canada, neither Liberal, Conservative, NDP and Green, no one really represents Canadians and really listens to the public. We learned there is NO future here for us or our family. We're done with a country that I pay taxes too, believed in, it's not my fault that I have to leave, it's CANADA and decades of bad policies, investing in wars instead of our home and people. Trudeau spent more time demonizing anti-vaxxers and truckers and funding Ukraine rather then helping starving Palestinians and Congolese people, families struggling here locally to feed their family, kids are who aren't getting a proper education, elderly unable to pay for their medicine or food. We are all suffering because no one in our govt wants to actually help our country get back on track. So our govt is essentially pushing us OUT. We don't want to leave, we have no choice.

There are regular workers who walk this road into the country every day as well. This is very disruptive to them with their jobs. People will be trampled under foot and they don't care. They just keep coming. The only importance to them is where they want to go.

Like me, I already want to move back. Canada was overglamorized. I think I'm just gonna finish my post grad work permit and move back home. At least there, housing is still within my reach. It's rare people doesn't own homes. You can grow food in your backyard. Can live without debt in any way if you choose as we dont rely in mortgages and credit cards or credit scores.\n\nCanada is good in pictures, but not totally in real life. And what I realized is every country has issue in corruption, government, capitalism etc. There's no perfect country, might as well, just have an almost perfect life with loved ones.
