1 in 40 people in Canada is an international student.\nLast year we let in the same amount of new immigrants as the USA, a country with 10x our population.\nLet that sink in.

Nobody talking about zero growth during 2021 and double growth in the following year. If your immigration plan is 500k and you skipped a year and doubled it a year later to catch up. Guess what 1 million isn’t too many.

it shouldn't even be a question. we are accepting way too many. it would not be a problem if we spent the last decade or two focusing on improving health care, expanding transportation and infrastructure, attracting jobs, building homes and so on. unfortunately we didn't do that sufficiently. we haven't even started to see the implications of this yet. in 5-10 years time the situation for everyone is going to be more dire than it has been in the last 1-2 years. we are in for very rough times all because we have an addiction to electing utterly useless governments no matter which side of the ideological aisle they sit on. if you think there's a lack of housing, not enough doctors, overcrowded transit systems etc now, it'll be a shock in years time. even if we started to improve these things now, it is not going to keep up to the demand

The purpose of your video is not to encourage nor discourage living in Canada. Just to share the prevailing sentiments and attitudes. 1) without rigorous methodology vis a vis sociological research, it’s just your precious Millennial opinion, and 2) of course you assume that the world needs to hear your precious Millennial opinion. You would have disappointed me if you didn’t. Oh, and 3) to try to make money in your “side hustle” instead of dedicate yourself to a career. Hope the door doesn’t hit you.

Now we're going to have a bunch of homless students, WE HAVE A HOUSING CRISIS! I live in a 1 bedroom apartment. I let a friend stay on my couch until he found a place. Although he had all the money needed, he could not find an apartment. It took almost 10 months to get my home back.. Any government party that would that would have a political goal of BUILDING APARTMENT COMPLEXES would win the election. Not a universal income!

There needs to be a rule that Canadian educational institutions cannot have more than 1/3 of their student base being non-Canadian students. For every 2 Canadians in that school, only 1 foreign student is allowed, otherwise, that college will have to hand over all excess tuition directly to the government.

Genesis 15:18\n“On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, 'To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates-- “\nJoshua 1:4\n“Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates--all the Hittite country--to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.”\n\n\nJeremiah 31:35-36\n“ This is what the Lord says,\nhe who appoints the sun\n to shine by day,\nwho decrees the moon and stars\n to shine by night,\nwho stirs up the sea\n so that its waves roar—\n the Lord Almighty is his name:\n “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,”\n declares the Lord,\n“will Israel ever cease\n being a nation before me.”

No , Canada is accepting rampant and unchecked international students from one country in particular! 80% of student visas issued are for India! Greedy politicians and university management currying favour with 1 out of 200 countries on the globe today. The long term consequences for this laxity will be astronomical.

Only give 10,000 International Student Visa’s per year ! Even amongst 10,000 don’t overly biased towards Indians give fair chances to everyone! Give only 1 year work permit after studies! Ban completely giving International visa’s for colleges and puppy mills
2024-01-19 0
He said 900,000 international students. Well today, we broke 1 million.
2024-01-19 0
I am not against international students coming here. Actually its good that young people wanna come here. However is it fair to ask if the government allows almost 1 million people to come, is it fair to ask the government to also at least build 500k new housing and all the support related to that like roads, hospitals, police stations, etc. if not then dont invite people over so they can fight each other for space to be able living here. That is just disrespectful!!!!
2024-01-19 0
It's 100% true. International students are being exploited for tuition money and GIC money. Students have taken huge loans from their home country expecting that they will be able to get jobs and pay off their debt but since last 1 year students are jobless. We are failing to get menial labor jobs. Inflation and rent are sky high and our GIC money is not enough to survive here. I myself sleep hungry sometimes as I don't have enough money to buy food after paying rent. I think if they can't give us jobs and affordable housing, canada should stop calling itself a developed first world country. We should call out the whole system for keeping international students in inhumane conditions.
2024-01-19 1
Yes. If you want to see it to believe it, come to Surrey, BC. There are so many brown students on the buses that you’ll have to wait 1-2 hours for an 80-person bus that has a space. Plus all the jobs are being taken, and I’m seeing so many homeless people on the streets now. No shelter space, and there won’t be maybe ever. All the parks are completely filled with tent cities. This is a huge disaster, bad enough that Trudeau should be removed from office.

I had a house for rent a proper 3 bedroom 1.5 bath semi-detached home in Mississauga where 6 international students wanted to lease the house for 1 year, and I was advised by the City of Mississauga that having unrelated individuals share bedrooms would be considered a rooming house and because I didn't want to risk the wrath of Bonnie Crombie's government fining me I didn't even consider their application. Generally, I would prefer leasing a home out to a family but I was inundated with demand from these students. I don't understand why the Cities won't permit these types of dwellings and why they permit these universities to grow and expand their campuses without ensuring enough housing. I mean Canadians are having a hard time finding homes. The fear as well is letting 5 or 6 students rent your house will turn to 8 or 10 people living there, subsidizing the rent for the original group

I've seen 15 Indian students off Brampton Ontario crammed in a very small room with just 1 electric fan... it's like prison to be honest

I think canada needs another 1 billion people for wconomic growth.\nMoney money money.

welcome to trudeaus canada. 1 million immigrants, 580,000 students per year. he enjoys to see canadians struggle and rent hitting 3k in 2024. more crimes, longer hospital wait times, maxed out infrastructure, not enough schools

ukrainians were given almost 1 million visas to come to Canada. Why are they not talked about?
2024-01-19 0
International students that are legit are ok. They study in UBC, SFU, UofT, Waterloo, and others and get proper degrees. \n\nThe problem lies in the diploma mills who are accepting everyone and anyone who has money. They do not have proper educational system - just in it for the money. See Conestoga, their international students increased 1,500% since 2014 compared to just only 64% increase for Waterloo. \n\nConestoga approved 30,000 new student visas just the past year. It's insane.

?? from comments here, im glad to see there r still sane Canadians?\nshould have been honest, yo #3 reason is actually yo #1 ? \nthere r no hate crimes against muslims, definitely not in the ghetto you live in?\nyour way of life is incompatible to the Western lifestyle and that is a perfect reason to go to a country with the same cultural agenda as yours

People who migrate from countries like Pakistan/India to western countries like US tend to follow their culture more than the people in their respective countries. Take a look at youtube videos from Pakistan and notice what % of women wear traditional head gear. The percentage comes down drastically in the case of educated/middle class people. Same goes for Indian people in US. Almost everyone teaches their daughter traditional dances from India. If you were to go to India, hardly anyone teaches their daughters these dances. Hardly 1 to 5% people whereas its kind of close to 80% or even higher in US. They think they are missing out on the culture and overdo it in western countries. Grass is always greener on the other side. Good luck.

Wrong softball questions. When would you intervene militarily to stop the slaughter of the Palestinians? Would it be 1 million dead or would you allow all of them to be killed?

I live in Niagara Falls.\nWant to drive to Toronto? In 2014, 80 minutes. In 2024, 80 minutes off peak, on peak 140 minutes.\nYes! Rush hour traffic adds 1 hour to the equation. Once you pass the Oakville Ford plant, you crawl all the way to Downtown Toronto. At least the GO train works well. Toronto is now overcrowded. Mississauga and Brampton are getting just as bad. Need to go to a hospital in or near Toronto? 14 hour wait.

We are US Americans. When our child decided to attend the University of Toronto, out-of-country, 15-some years ago, we researched so much, including the university’s international student pulse. We were horrified to learn the lion’s share of UofT’s international students body intended to use UofT not for a high-caliber education but as a fast-path gateway into the US upon graduation, if not before. International student forum members were quite clear and unapologetic their intentions. In the years since, the US has learned most of these immigrants can’t compete once here and do poorly. The reason is part expectation and part inflated self-assessment — 1. Our urban and suburban housing is just as expensive as Toronto and Vancouver, 2. We don’t have free health care except for the destitute. Even then, it’s minimal, 3. Our ivies and other great universities already supply our best employers, 4. Our academic standards are more rigorous, in most cases, to Canada’s, 5. Our winters are just as cold and snowy, 6. Our summers are so hot, your car and anything in it will melt, and 7. We generally don’t have public transportation except piecemeal in our cities. Further, most of us don’t want Trudeau’s increasingly fascist politics to take hold here, any more than they have already, under Biden.

433000 immigrants in the last 3 months of last year, govt planned 1 million units of housing to be built over the next 10 years. Month of December Canada gained 100 jobs. Surging inflation, do the math before you come here?

Lived in T.O. in the 90's. I was in my 20's and living life. What a great city. So much to do right outside your door. BUT, the city gets you. Stuck in the fast paced life, the years fly by it seems. I moved back east and settled back into country living. It was a great experience at that age, but the city is a young man's game. \nRent was $650 for a 1 bedroom just east of young and Eglinton

1,500 years before the coming of Christ, We Jews left our lands and entered into Egypt. We largely abandon the grounds given to us by our God. As we suffered famine and draught. We left the land unprotected. \n\nWe Jews, through the sinful guidance of Zionist Jews. Have for over the last 80 years, oppress the Palestinian people. \n\nIt sickens me to see us once again commit genocide against the Palestinian people. We first did it during the time of Joshua, and now we are doing it again. And in both cases, we lied to ourselves, stating that it was God's will, when it was not. Our God states that we should not kill. Yet our leaders are so quick to find reasons to do so, on huge scales.

I have been deeply puzzled since the age of 13 (50 years) how on earth someone can 1) believe in an imperceptible supreme being who imposes inexplicable obligations, or 2) want to be just like everyone else, rather than following your own innocent inclinations

I lived in Western Europe, Japan and at the moment, Canada. I lucked out getting a well paying job in Vancouver when I moved back a few years ago and my average tax rate is actually the exact percentage you stated in the video - 28%, which includes income tax, pension and employment insurance. I'm actually doing better in terms of quality of life now but I do miss being able to travel around Europe for cheap. (e.g., quick train ride to Paris for the weekend) Now, I take cheap flights (e.g. Flair Airlines) to Mexico instead.\n\nJust to state some data points: when I was in Europe, I paid a total average of 39% income tax on a lower salary than I have right now in Canada. Things like utilities (e.g., gas/electricity), restaurants, certain grocery items and electronics (e.g., iphone/PS5/computers) were significantly more expensive because European VAT (inclusive) is usually 20%+. \n\nI don't have the exact numbers but on average I believe I was paying 70 - 90€ ($100 - 130 CAD) just for electricity each month for a small flat, but I am now paying $30 - 50 CAD for a decent sized 1 bedroom. I believe my housing gas bill was about the same or possibly a bit more. In addition, automobile gas prices were much higher (about $2€/L on average which is $2.90 CAD/L) and I think they could go even higher right now. \n\nHowever, rent is definitely more expensive in Vancouver, but I believe that is true for many West coast cities in North America. Right now I'm paying $2300 CAD a month for a 1BR, and I split that amount with my partner. In comparison, it would have been about €1300 ($1900 CAD) for something similar in the city where I was living previously. In a more expensive city (e.g. Amsterdam) a 1BR would easily cost €1800+ ($2650 CAD).\n\nFor me, the difficulty of making friends in my late 20's stays about the same. I think it is difficult to make new friends after graduating from school, and you have to put yourself out there by joining groups and events. (e.g. Meetup or volunteering?)
