This narrative always kills me when I hear it, as if the Arab world should take Palestinians

This is a huge industry in Canada. Always has been. Which is why it will never be free.

I agree with your assertions. Things have gotten much worse in the last 5 years or so. Letting in immigrants with no place to live is a federal government fiasco among many other issues like health care funding etc. I love Toronto and I will always live in the GTA!

I have beeb to most major north american cities. I don't know why but since being a kid I always disliked Toronto the most.

International students ARE NOT driving up home prices or rent...that's a supply/demand issue (plus the lack of control government has on landlords and how much they can charge for a specific unit) and it's also a foreign buyer issue (yes Chinese foreign buyers, who buy homes in Canada but never move-in and use it as the home as a savings account). Not the international students problem, when the government of Canada DEMANDS THESE STUDENTS NOT WORK FOR MORE THAN 20 HOURS A WEEK and then watches them struggle to pay for rent (and therefore have to live 2 or 3 to a room)...yeah, don't blame the students. BLAME THE GOVERNMENT for bringing these students here, handicapping them by limiting their work hours (minimum wage at that) and then turning around and blaming them for why homes are ridiculously expensive and rent is unaffordable. Yeah, don't blame the government for it's inability to build homes...don't blame the government, instead, blame the minimum wage international student...it's going to be interesting if this actually brings DOWN rent prices and home costs. Which it won't, at which point, the government is going to be pointing fingers at someone else. Like they always do. LOL.

Yeah mate! Canada is a shit hole! And it always was! Except maybe Quebec. I left Canada 30 years ago and never looked back. \nIt's a Cultural desert, no Spirit, no Soul. Based on greed. Greed for money, money, money........ Now Corporate owned spiritual shit hole!
2024-01-21 0
Yes, it is true ! An idealized view of Canada as a one of the best countries in the world is complete bull shit! It always was.\nI left Canada 30 year ago and never looked back. A cultural desert. No spirit, no soul except Quebec. But they are racists!

I have experienced this many time, mannerless kids keep kicking irrespective of how many times u request politely to not do it. But best is never to talk to minors as they are most likely travelling with an adult so always seek who they are travelling with and report to the staff onboard first. If they say they are not able to help put it on record with ur phone and report once u land, sometimes u can’t resolve this when u are onboard, as so called literate people never apologise.

Canada has been avoiding the root cause of the fertility rate issue instead of fixing it. Canadians are replaced with immigrants. Immigrants are used as cogs in the system. The government always finds a way to make things worse with its shortsighted policies.

I used to teach and coordinate programs for international nurse, this is spot on - and I have always wondered about Canadian students getting into programs - we need Canadian students who are talented and want to study but cannot afford it. There is so much i could unpack. In general, most of the students are lovely and hard-working, but the intent in most cases is to get a PR status - so most of them stay. Many also are disappointed with Canada - as they may come from a place where they were in a different social class. I know many of my students now are productive members of Canadian society working in their chosen fields. I am proud of them - as the move was not easy and they left their families behind. Considering that most of the world is a collectivist culture versus our individualist culture of the West, there is much to adjust to. Good piece.

Foreign students are an investment... it can pays off or not... \nAsylum seekers on the other hand... will always need government support...

I live in London i know all about International students and how crazy things are since rental properties are non existent and the price has skyrocketed for rental properties and another is the city transit system that is always packed with many buses are having to tell people to wait for the next bus because it is so packed. it is getting out of control in my opinion because not only do we have the students we have all the Asylum seekers on top of that and how they add to the wait lines in the ER and walk in clinics. and then they are looking for places to rent to but there is nothing because everything is packed.

Multiculturalism always ends badly. Mono culture is the best bet.

And then they wonder why civilians die in a war zone, same thing happened in the battle of Berlin, it’s always the urban areas that have civilian casualties when it’s a war zone, Gaza Strip is nothing but cramped up urbanized areas filled with humans shields.

I rode the city bus in my city 13 years ago daily and it came once an hour and was barely ever occupied. Now its got 3 times as many buses on the same route and they are always packed... with THEM!

I’m surprised he didn’t respond saying that Palestinians are always welcome in other Arab countries first, and then continuing with his response.

When you see movies set in the past at university's, students are always living in dorms 6 people to a room etc. Fastest way to build more beds is to build dorms, smash up hostels close to university's... big benefit in the international students paying more than local students, to make it cheaper for Canadians. Also the international students do all the jobs currently screaming for workers

What use is some of the studies if they study a subject and there aren't the jobs for it. Ever use Complex numbers? Ever use differenial equations? Have you used Fourier transforms in real life? After two years outside the area you studied and worked in Canadian Tires, you are pretty useless. There is always someone behind you.

I said Good Bye to Toronto in 2019. Never ever went to see it again. We knew something was coming. We were running. That something was the fake virus plus migrants. We are very happy living in small small town. I was born in a capital, always lived in cities. That will not happen again during my life time but also during my children’s. The children may have to enter, note enter and leave. But none of us will ever again live in a zoo.

The mass immigration is causing the Bank of Canada to forever keep hiking their interest rates to combat inflation. With mass immigration the demand for commodities is always high than what Canada can supply which is the root cause of inflation.

Canada is a multicultural country. Keeping everyone happy will always be a big struggle. Can’t think of anywhere else to live.

How does he always talk so much yet say nothing like that is a skill every time he talks I leave more confused than I started ?
2024-01-19 3
well said. If you do not like the culture and values of a place, no hard feelings, if you can afford to leave, you should indeed live in a place that makes you happy. The western liberal democracy provides everything with freedom of choice and that is not something that many orthodox muslim families want - they not only want Islamic values and lifestyle, they want others around them to live these too. This is incompatible and it is excellent that this family is choosing to be where they will truly be happy. this needs courage and conviction. I may not agree with everything you say or share - but I do respect that there is always honesty in your ideas.

WHY DON'T THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL WAIT FOR THE NEW HOLY CITY OF GOD/ JERUSALEM TO COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN? THEY ARE ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT WHAT THE BIBLE IS SAYING.

People who migrate from countries like Pakistan/India to western countries like US tend to follow their culture more than the people in their respective countries. Take a look at youtube videos from Pakistan and notice what % of women wear traditional head gear. The percentage comes down drastically in the case of educated/middle class people. Same goes for Indian people in US. Almost everyone teaches their daughter traditional dances from India. If you were to go to India, hardly anyone teaches their daughters these dances. Hardly 1 to 5% people whereas its kind of close to 80% or even higher in US. They think they are missing out on the culture and overdo it in western countries. Grass is always greener on the other side. Good luck.

Multiculturalism isn't always a good thing
2024-01-17 0
The grass is always greener on the other side.\nPeople in my country complain about how bad things are here and how they wish they could live in a nice country like Canada...
2024-01-17 0
Canada hasn't always been this expensive, no. On a single, very average, middle-class salary, my Grandparents bought a detached home in the GTA, raised 6 kids and still managed to save around $350,000 for retirement despite the fact my Grandfather's job (as many jobs did in those days) provided him with a defined-benefit pension plan, which has been entirely stripped away from modern workers.\n\nThat was a mere 60 years ago. Canada used to be a paradise. All you needed was a willingness to work.

Basically Arabs won’t take in Muslim refugees. Europe and USA will. Palestinians cannot live peacefully because they always want to fight with others even when they HAD (past tense) homes jobs and families.

In short kingdom ships have big stakes and can't endanger them for some humanitarian causes. Saudi or Arab world in general have good relations overtly or covertly with Israel and the financial interests for them ALWAYS transcends over linguistic or religious causes.

Toronto is and has always been one giant shit hole.

Less immigrants is perfect news, they've always been such an entitled crying bunch the last 20 years, and telling us how to live our lives.\nBye, bye, don't forget to turn off the light on your way out! ?

I have always wanted to visit Toronto, native Chicagoan. That is sad, but all cities have their ups and downs. That is stupid and unfair how rent is increasing.
2024-01-16 0
It's really strange to hear these topics. I remember in the 1980's people warning about universal healthcare that always results in wait times, in some instances very long wait times. Humans are a broken record: the same warnings, the same actions, the same unfortunate results.

See friends, all the middle class and low class people in the world are suffering from the same problems. First there are no jobs, even if there are jobs they are misbehaved, mistreated, abused or exploited etc. Then what can be the solution for this problems? This is our common problem wherever we are living in. Just comparatively, some places are better but we don't have easy access to that special place. I think we can't escape this. There are always Big Brother and Subaltern in the world. I think there is no democracy where the voice is heard and justice, security in general, job after education, implementation of law, equitable social life is guaranteed in practice. The powerful dominates everywhere in the Nature. This law is applicable forever because there can be no complete ideal world. But we can just minimize if we involve in politics everywhere.

Always best to live among your own people, I wouldn’t dream of living in a Muslim country because I know I never would be fully accepted there ..That’s human nature.

ALL KUDOS To You and Your Family For This Very PRUDENT Decision. You Are a Shining Beacon that Numerous Muslims Should Follow....It is ALWAYS Best That People of Similar Religious Dispositions and Value Systems Live TOGETHER. May The Almighty Bless The Saleh Family

Canada is one of the few places where freedom of choice is always respected. Therefore, if you both choose to leave Canada with your children, that is understandable and respected.\n\nBeyond that, all I can add as an analogy to your reasons of leaving is that Canada is like a beautiful garden with diversity of flowers, fauna, fragrence and yes, some thorns. Too bad, that all your reasons are focusing on the thorns in the garden.\n\nGood luck in your endeavors.

I’m British, been here in Canada for 25 years. Proud to be here not so proud of my government. Running away is not an option for me especially to the police state that is now the U.K. The grass is always greener on the other side. Fight the power and don’t give up on Canada

As a Torontonian born and raised here it’s had a couple shifts in feel over the past decades. Around the mid 90s, there was an increase of gun violence, crime and theft in the city which caused my family to move out to the burbs. I moved back during the 2009 recession for higher education at one of the institutions downtown. At that time, there wasn’t much violence at all. We went out til the wee hours of the morning from Fashion district (Queen and Richmond) to Honest Eds (Bathurst and Bloor), to Yonge and Dundas square. There were still some homeless people then, but fast forward to now, it’s gotten aggressive. Instead of the homeless people keeping in their camps, but now, they have been displaced, are angry, mental health issues are rampant and incidents can happen anywhere. I think we have the right mayor in place now to make some positive changes for the social issues in the city and I am optimistic that we can get it cleaned up over time. For now though, I agree with the sentiment, come for a visit, but maybe skip out on living here until the social issues get sorted. You always have to keep an eye on the back of your head these days.

İ support you. You are always welcome in Turkey.

I always tell my children, the west is fun for holidays, but for living nothing is better than home or if not possible seek for a warm eastern country with large communities of your own.
2024-01-14 0
I happen to believe that what you speak is very true. Canada is accepting of all cultures and does welcome all communities/groups. However from my perspective we are not an overly religious society for the most part, so for cultures that are more religious this could create some discomfort and a feeling of being different and not fittting in. So its safe to say that Canada is a great country, but is not always the best choice for everyone. Best of luck and happines for your life journey.
